Zynga Launches “FarmVille”. Does It Look Familiar?

In the past few days, Zynga, the leading Facebook platform developer, quietly released a new game called “FarmVille”. If you’ve played Farm Town at any point in the past few months then you won’t need any education about how to use Zynga’s version of the game as it’s almost an exact duplicate. The only feature the company needs is the ability to import the game from Farm Town over to FarmVille and they’ll have come up with a great tool to take over the users.

Zynga has been repeatedly accused for stealing game ideas from other developers. The developer behind Mob wars even sued Zynga for copyright infringement back in February, and it appears that the dispute is still unsettled. With one active lawsuit, the company must feel confident in their strategy of copying the most successful games on Facebook. Farm Town, the most recent game to be copied, has grown steadily over the past few months with over 3.7 million daily active users and over 9.5 million monthly active users.

With such high engagement and ~~no previous competition~~ only one competitor (Barn Buddy), the application has become an example of an extremely successful game on the Facebook platform. Almost 50 percent of the users come back daily which is an impressive feat for any application. So how does Zynga’s new version, “FarmVille”, differ from the highly successful Farm Town? Well, for the time being there is no public marketplace or “Saloon” in which users can go socialize with one another.

Instead, the game is focused on letting users interact with their friends. You can visit your friends farms as well as add them as neighbors. Honestly, this game is likely to be much more viral as it focuses on the interaction between friends, not strangers. One other improvement is the removal of annoying bugs that were prevalent in Farm Town. Often times you would click on a plot of land in Farm Town and it wouldn’t respond.

FarmVille has successfully removed all the kinks and now all that’s left is viral growth. The company is also investing in a large ad campaign which has been showing up occasionally around Facebook. Not surprising considering that this is a typical strategy for the company. On MySpace, they are reportedly spending $2 to $3 million on MySpace ads every month. Regardless, the company continues to grow and they don’t appear ashamed to use any strategy in the book, even if it includes copying others.

I have to admit, all of Zynga's games are essentially the same. And while I'm completely addicted to Mafia Wars, I'm also a bit surprised they've been able to find success with so many similar, stale games. On the other hand, the cases where the Zynga games (Mafia Wars) depart from the original copied games are mostly for the better, and add new functionality that makes the games that much more enjoyable.

I play on farmtown everyday…but mostly to go to the marketplace to work for other people to get money(since i usually plant the 3 day crops)

but, you are not able to do that with this game…

even though the graphics are a lot better…i like farmtown more

you know. finally someone said it. its going to be hard for whoever makes farmtown to sue zynga, since the majority of the game was copied from harvest moon.

i got bored with farmtown. hopefully zyngas move will spurt both into a feature war that will add gameplay value to both sides. of course, i hope for that but these days im sure they will just file a lawsuit and be as anticompetitive as the person who "stole" their "stolen" idea.

They don't have a marketplace & the ability for others to work on your farm, which is the main appeal of farmtown for me. If they're never going to have this feature then I probably won't move. However they don't seem to have the bugs of farmtown either.

Also look up "myfarm", "happy farm", they're are just like farmville, farmtown, barn buddy.

What Zynga needs to do is have the ability to merge Yoville with Farmville. Go to work on your farm, instead of going to the dumb factory. Have the ability to decor your apartment and your piece of land as well. that would be fun

The problem with Zynga’s version is that you can’t interact in real time. Farm Town has chat in addition to the ability to harvest for others and earn more money.

It’s stable, but it’s boring. It’s got the same sort of limitations as Parking Wars.

I agree. A major detraction is that you can’t harvest for others, the major way I was able to earn enough money to build up my own farm on FarmTown. Makes it rather boring since there is limited opportunities to interact. I agree with Christine, if they would merge Yoville with Farmville (so that my apt/house is on my farm), that would be awesome!

I got so annoyed and bored with farm town, the bottom line is that it is TOO SLOW!!!you always have to wait on your avatar, while in this game it follows you!!! that is what makes this 1 so much better! also the avatars themselves have a lot more range feature wise. I also agree that yoville and farmville should merge so I’ll get more money easier!

Give them some time, it's new yet. the fact that you can queue up commands in farmville is in and of itself a HUGE improvment over farmtown. I can make 30 clicks then watch my avatar go to work instead of sitting, waiting, clicking.. watching my avatar take the longest possible way to get there.. clicking again… getting an error message, like in Farmtown.

Ive been playing FT for almost six month and am not sick of it yet. And like Farmville, I visit every day. I like the single interaction with just my friends from FV. And, the public interaction in the market. What I can't stand is the spamming and begging in the market. I wish we could harvest for our friends on FV though. I like helping others and since its only our friends, it seems right that we could be able to help them on FV as well.

I add my vote to Christine’s idea. I stopped playing YoVille for FarmTown because I felt like I could actually make progress. I am not interested in working at the factory. I love FarmTown and the only aspect that I don’t like is the focus on strangers over friends, so I will probably give FarmVille a shot–I can’t say that for my 30 FarmTown neighbors, though!

i play FarmTown and started Farmville at this point Farmtown is much better (hands downs) however i play yoville and they made us be able to sit/down/ dance make diff actions (kinda raises the bar up) they need to make it so we can go into house and set them up and sit they did it on yoville so we know you can it would be cool to sit in yard and talk to friend ect! so as of now farmville has a long way to go i am going to hang a bit to see if you step up the game . as of now there only 34 level in farmtown and a lot of people geting up there we will see what happens but something does has to happen

Farmville looks great.. but the keyword is looks! There’s no annoying bugs like Farmtown but there is less social interaction and less work, which is not a good thing. While waiting for my crops to grow I loved going to the Marketplace to chat or look for work, even if they are strangers. I made friends that way, and it’s a good and fun way to make money in the game. You can not do this on Farmville though.. I want to harvest other peoples crops and see their farms. That’s the best thing in Farmtown. Farmville needs to add this and it will be major success. I just wish Farmtown would fix their very annoying bugs.

I like farmville, I thought maybe if we fed the cow's we might get milk to sell at the fruit stand, can we even sell fruit and veggie's from the stand?? The animal's need to do more than take up space. I can't say I ever played farmtown so I don't know the difference yet, guess I will have to check it out.

Farm Town is still my favorite because I can find jobs to make extra cash whereas in Farm Ville you have to rely on your crops and nothing more (except for the daily neighbor visits).

Farm Ville is a lot quicker and you don't have to wait for each job to be completed in order to click on the next task. You just keep clicking and the tasks line up whichis great. If they add a market place where one can find jobs it will be great. They have copied everything to the dot, why keep back on this most imoportant point?

It may be a copy of Farm Town but Farm Town can hardly complain about it. myFarm (http://facebook.com/playmyfarm) was the original, a game Slashkey waited for it to have some issues due to the growth before ripping it off. The only feature that was in Farm Town at launch that didn’t come directly or work the same as in myFarm was the ‘Chat’ aspect and hiring (Something which lets be honest wasn’t well thought out by Slashkey, its going to get them sued at some point in the future because the chat is unsuitable for for those under 18 and there you have adults speaking to kids in a sexual manner) everything else came out of our game, off our todo list and off our suggestions forum that they trawled. Atleast they went for a different look I suppose but then their look is infulences by youville

Adding ONE SINGLE PREFERENCE will make Farmtown perfect! Add a preference that will freeze the freaking avatar while you work. Also, make it where when you click on a crop, you can keep clicking and not wait on a progress bar.

The animals in Farmville will actually give you money. The chickens give you eggs, and the cows give you milk. It takes about 2 days. Just put your mouse over the animal to see if it is ready. When it is ready, you can get coins from the animals.

hands down this is better then farm town. The fact that you can set up multiple tasks far surpasses farmtown. That is the single reason I started playing farmville. The only thing that could make it better is to click and drag over a large area to select an action for multiple plots.

You can visit neighbors & work for them for some coins. The animals (w/possible excepting of rabbit) do provide "products" for coins. Don't sell them, you can gain more coins keeping them & 'harvesting' whatever product they provide…..

Same w/trees.

I do wish FarmVille had a "Save" feature.

Farm Town is annoying to me. Too many bugs & too slow to do things….

i’ve got this AWESOME glitch on my farmville, just setting up a new account and a note pops up from one of my friends asking if i want to help pull up weeds but the note won’t go away, making me click it heaps and earning lots of money and levels!! woo!

The problem I have is errors while loading, I never have that problem with Farmtown, and I do not have it with my secondary FB acct Zynga wants to blam the server but it can't be the server if I m able to access it from my other acct. Their customer service is quick to respond with pat automated replies but to get a human being to actually look at the problem is another matter all together.

I would be fine with farmville except that I keep losing my animals. I have stopped accepting them altogether as gifts and never buy them. What good are they when all they do is go off into la-la land. And everything else works!

But also, if I try to get farm cash, I can't get it because they want me, one way or the another, to pay for it. Either I buy the coins (It's a game!!) or I have to join something. What the *&^*% do I need another book for? And I can't drive a car and don't have any babies. Why can't I just take a spelling test or whatever and get the cash to buy the outhouse with?

If it's not allowed in your office, try not to plant the strawberries & stuff. Soybeans you can harvest every day, etc. Wheat I think is three days. I like strawberries but I gave up on them. Especially when I went on vacation.

By the way, I only have two neighbors. I'd take more if I knew how to check on somebody.

Here’s a concept for you. Create a game called LIFe with a farmville type setting. People are nuts about virtual reality TV, create something like that online that they can participate in. You start out the game as young adults, shop for home / Apt. and deal with lifes issues (work, kids, parents, bad drivers (lol) Have a bar where you can go vent about your boss. The barber shop where you can go b.s. or the beauty salon where they all gossip and the user can plug in they’re actual life comments. “Oh, the boss was an SOB today… the bartender buys him a drink”… Playdates in the park with other mothers…. purchasing decor for the home. Whatdoyathink? let me know.

I actually like both games, there are pro’s and con’s in each.
In Farm Ville -I’d like to be able to get the dollars as well as the coins in FarmVille, but I ain’t paying or using my credit card to get it.
Farm Town- my darn animals keep escaping from the gated fence, even though it takes up almost 1/5th of my yard, lol.
Ah well, it’s a game and a good escapism from the day’s woes. Peace out.

Since you have to “plow” anyways, why not delete the field and plow in the new area. You don’t lose points for deleting and you can neaten up your farm. That’s what I do now.

I just wish you didnt have to have 8 players just to get more acres to farm on. My farm is so crowed that i have to keep selling things off to make more room . I love farmtown

I'm a little suprised nothing was mentioned in the article about the 'myFarm' Application… which uses the exact same idea, and came about a good 6 months before FarmTown! Games of this sort are nothing new… Farmville is a pretty good version of it, though it would be nice if it still had the chat oportunities that they used in Whyville.

I've already reached level 34 on Farm Town so I started focusing my vurtual farming addiction on Farmville. I still prefer Farm Town for many reasons, but there are some superior features on Farmville including much better graphics. There's still a lot of improvements to be made on Farmville, but I expect that, by next year, Farmville will be the king of facebook apps!

Being new to FB, I’ve been playing both Farmtown and Farmville for about the same time. Very addictive! Farmville programmers had done a far better job, but there isn’t enough to do, so its getting boring. I can’t expand because I don’t have enough neighbors. Farmtown has so may things that I have yet to attain, but the core programming has many problems. Hoping one or the other becomes good at everything to make it evern greater game.

i'm sorry, but is just ridiculous. What does it matter which version's better? The fact is, Farmville is an absolute shameless rip-off of Farmtown and personally, i think it's pretty disgusting that they can get away with that.

Seriously, just have a look at the two on youtube and quite frankly, the similarity is just shocking. It's just a classic example of a larger, more powerful company getting away with murder.

what makes the application slow might be either because your computer's speed is slow or your internet speed is slow. i have proven this theory by trying playign the app in two different laptops with different specs.

Farmville is just a prettier game! Better graphics by far. The animals actually produce a harvest which is fun. I play FarmTown as well, but I am turned off by how messy it all feels and looks.

I love Farmtown and I love Farmville. Similar game with a few different twists. My only beef with Farmville is they are too slow allowing the purchase of bigger properties. I'm sick of seeing it say "coming soon". Since i've been playing Farmville, they've added new items to all the other areas but the size of the properties. Start concentrating on the land size or i'm going to look elsewhere for my entertainment.

On the question of how to get cash on Farmville: I just cruised through the forum's &, apparently, to get dollars, not coin, you have to buy them with real money or complete the sponsor's surveys that give you Farmville dollars for doing them. Coin you earn in the game, dollars you pay for with real dollars or your time.

It is completely unacceptable that dollars can only be earned by paying real money. I have totally enjoyed Farm Town because it is a self contained game. I control the leveling up and the size and the product. The only limitation is having a certain amount of neighbors to hire others. I survived just fine until I had enough neighbors. I prefer the graphics on Farm Town as well…the Farmville stuff looks like cartoon characters. Anyways….I won't pay real money to play…that is a sham.

I have been having problems with farmville all day. I could not get on, they are aware of the problems and the super strawberries still withered. I paid 15 coins to plow, then 10 coins to grow and now have to pay more to plow and more to grow again. I lost over 150 strawberries. That is A LOT of coins to lose!!

When there are problems with farmville, you should get your money back – this problem is making many people fed up with farmville. . takes the fun out of the game. . .

YOU CAN GET CASH ON FARMVILLE WITHOUT PAYING!!!! I started with 5 farm cash, and noticed that as I level up and win ribbons, an extra dollar will quietly be added on here and there. I am currently at level 16, and I have several ribbons. My farm cash total has grown to 12 bucks, and I never paid a thing. I think that winning certain ribbons gives you more farm dollars. The game doesn’t tell you when you are being awarded the extra dollars, so you just have to pay attention to your cash. I would recommend saving your farm cash for expanding your farm. Don’t wast your farm bucks on decorations.

I like Farmville, it's a pretty decent game. I can't be bothered to get into a lot of the other shit Facebook offers, but for some reason this game has me hooked. I guess, like what a lot of you have said, Zynga ripped off a bunch of other similar games, but besides Harvest Moon (which is awesome) I haven't played any of the others. I will never pay money for cash, or allow myself to be junk-mailed by those sketchy "survey" companies, nor would I really give a damn if Farmville disappeared tomorrow, it's just kinda fun right now. I do agree with the majority of the random bitchings on here though

Help! I have been playing farmville for a few weeks with no problems. Then starting yesterday, I have not been able to open the market to shop. I can go to my farm and plow and harvest. tips for all of you..

1. to expand..you just need to fulfill the requirements for each size of farm you are interested in to (how many neighbours you're required to have to unlock it).. once you fulfill the requirement..you can buy bigger size of land..i've tried for 14X14 and 16X16..

2. the best investment is on the trees and animals since you only need to buy them once a lifetime and they'll keep providing you with coins..

3. this is a virtual game..a real time game..so, bear in mind..the plants will use a real tick-tock hours..

4. trying to earn more cash – you didn't have to pissed with the paying method provided by Zynga.. that's where they earn more money..so, for you to earn more coins without losing your own real money..is working hard on your farm..

5. to earn extra coins.. try visiting your neighbours frequently..and when the popup saying your neighbour need your help in weeding their farm or getting the crows away..do help them..you can earn 20coins+5XP points at a time..and whenever your friends are rewarded (showed at your FB HOME page), click on their |get his/her bonus reard|..

Zynga is pulling a rip off on its Yoville customers. When I signed onto the game, I could earn 1500 coins per day for game play. I have also invested a considerable amount of real cash on the game. Then suddenly, without warning, Zynga changed the way you earn coins and now I can only make a maximum of 540 coins (or 672 if I can sign in every 4 hours). And although the feed back has been extremely negative about the change, Zynga doesn't seem to be listening to its customers. What I'd like to know is, is it legal to take money from a customer for a game, then change the service to one of lesser quality? If I am encouraged to invest in a service and then after I invest, they change the service to one that I didn't agree to, do I have legal recourse?

To earn FV's you need to plow lots of land in one go and then an odd gold coin will appear out of the ground, this will add to your FV amount. The quickest way to get them is to plant loads of raspberries, as they take just 2 hours, and just harvest, plow (just keep repeating as required). Happy farming!!

Farmville was great — when it worked — which was only the first few days, and once since I started it (nearly 2 weeks ago). Since then, the game either won't load, or takes twenty (or more) minutes to load, of freezes once it loads.

When/if the game works, it's great. But, as it rarely works, it's hardly worth my time. I spent nearly two weeks building a farm and raising assets, but what good is it when the lousy game won't load.

It's too bad, they can't get their act together.

Farmviille is still in Beta. That means it is still in test mode and the public is the guinea pigs to see what works and what doesn't. This game hasn't been released yet. We are test subjects. Please be patient.

When the crops are ready for harvesting, its a such a nice sight to see. Beats the 10x20ft piece of land I have in front of my terrace house for planting. It gives me an architectural freedom to design. heck, I scan the page and kept in my computer for FUTURE REFERENCE. …who knows, I might get lucky to have REAL CASH to buy a REAL FARM and design it according to the best design that I made in FarmVille. Well being patient is one thing. Being ignored by Zynga (which they do quite often) is another, complaints about connectivity to the application, error codes, to not even being able to access the application, complaints keep coming and Zynga hasn’t done anything BUT keep adding more and more stuff. Some people (users) even help by purchasing farmville cash and can not even access their farm. At the moment Zynga is now in the works of attempting another application called Fishville (another possible copy-cat of other applications on the facebook platform like: Fish world, or My aquarium) if they ZYNGA would finish 1 project at a time and hire more than the 30 Customer Service reps I’m sure they would be much better with less complaints via their Forum and the Better Business Bureau….

Hi,

Quite some time ago, one of my neighbors sent me a building on three separate occassions, however, the buildings never appeared in my gift box, nor did they appear on my farm.

Six buildings are necessary to earn the architect ribbon. My statistics indicate that I have 3 to go.

How do I retrieve the 3 buildings and add them to my farm?

FarmVille has better graphics (proportional, and dementional), and more selection (crops, flowers, clothes, people), but it’s a very limited game.

FarmTown now has it where you don’t have to wait on one task to be finished to start another, but in farmville I can’t leave my farm until the avatar is finished without loosing the rest… that sux! I started FarmTown and in about 5 weeks I was at the top level… which I loved because now I can actually take the time to arrange the farm like I want it. FarmVille is a pain in the butt… you can only get land based on the amount of friends you have, that sux!

For people like myself (loners), this “rule” on both games where you only get certain privileges if you have “x” amount of friends is a MAJOR TURN OFF! We shouldn’t HAVE TO add people to our friend list just to play a game! It’s STUPID!

I have found farmville a bit different the Fatm Town. I guess it is good that there are two competing products it should compel them to improve their products. If you're having trouble logging in to Farmville and using Internet Explorer, try using Safari. It's much more reliable. if you still have trouble, just try again. I haven't had much trouble since I've started using Safari.

I have had several gifts that have not been recieved do to the site hanging up. I'm having to refresh or use the back arrow. When I do either I lose my gifts from my farmville buddies. So far I a have lost three chickens and two horses.

Personally, I play Farmville much more than I play Farmtown. I started playing farmtown first, and found that things cost a lot more virtual money to buy. Then the fact that I had two options EVERY time I harvested really annoyed me (I know they now ask if I want to keep that the same every time but it still annoys me).

I'm not trying to run down Farmtown at all, but just thought I'd say, although both are pretty damn good…I'm a Farmville addict.

All of you having problems, try using a different browser. I'm partial to Google Chrome, but Firefox is 2nd best on my computer. Internet Explorer is real slow and crashes way too much for these games.

I think Farm Town has worked out most of the bugs now. Farmville seems more buggy and slow loading–especially with dial up service. I have been doing both starting yesterday. Both look cartoonish–why wouldn't they? I like the chat room aspect of Farm Town. I'm not used to hiring help or being hired help. I may look into that aspect more.

I have gone from farmtown to farmville and back again.
In farmtown you get others to do half your work, and I have never run out of fuel. Farmville is like what Farmtown used to be – endless mouse-clicking.

The only problem I have with farmville is this idea that you need X amount of neighbors to upgrade. It's like their forcing you to friend this bunch of random people on your personal account just to play. I created a secondary account just to play where I have 70 random people as friends, which I think is bullshit since I don't want strangers knowing my business.

Also, when the hell is the 24×24 expansion be available?

Ps-I've never played Farmtown or Farm pals.

For a week now I have not been able to access Farmville. As soon as I click on it a message pops up that says there is an error on the page. The first day it happened a boxed popped up and went away that said this was a problem they are aware of and are trying to fix??? Not as of yet!!

Ok, I’m usually not one for messing around with online games, but so many of my Facebook friends were on Farmville so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I did something a little different though, I actually started a blog on my experience about Farmville. (see above) just to kind of keep tabs on what it was I was doing and how much I’d learned.

But…now can’t seem to get away from it. Addicting is right!

My biggest problem (keep in mind I’ve only been doing this for 6 days) is figuring out how to earn Farmville CASH (not coins) without having to pay real-world money for it.

I have a real problem shelling out my hard-earned cash for fake money.

Any tips?

Lyda – if you are talking about Farmville bucks (not coins), you get 1 for every level you gain, and you can buy them with (real) money. Those are the only ways you can get them (well, unless there’s some way to hack the system).

Hi, since Wednesday night after 11pm i am having problem going on my farmville. I have been trying since then but it says “server out of sync please refresh your page.” I do not even have a code next to it. Farmville is the only game i enjoy playing on facebook and now i do not even feel like being on facebook due to the issue i have. For last 52+ hours I have been getting "out of sync with server" error messages on FarmVille. A google search reveals there are literally thousands of other similarly displaced people. FarmVille has some serious technical issues and unless my farm is up & operating by mid-week I will be leaving the game. A pity really because I have neighbors from all over the world.

Those dismayed that there is little interaction on FarmVille may not be aware that it is a part of Facebook, which has a lot of interaction features, including chat, private messages, and your own wall, which is chared by those you choose as friends. Also, there are ways of finding friends as neighbors to your farm, who you don't even know. There are websites where you can find neighbors from all over the world.

Someone asked if you can move a plot of land. No, you can't move the plots, but you can delete them and draw them again. Problem is, you lose revenue if you have crops planted on the plot. It's best to wait until after harvest, then delete and redraw. You also earn xp for doing this.

A few tricks I've learned that make Farmville quicker. Fences and bales of hay create barriers for your own and your neighbors' avatars. This is to your advantage, since if the avatar can't move, then harvesting, planting and fertilizing goes much quicker, since you don't have to wait for the avatar to get to the plot. So you should build unpenetrable fences around all your crops so your avatar can't reach them. You should also do this for your trees and your animals. Also, when a neighbor avatar visits your farm to fertilize your crops, he/she always ends up in the geographical center of your farm. Thus, you should also build an unpenetrable barrier with either fences or hay bales around this one plot, which makes fertilization much faster.

And finally, a neat feature of Farmville is the creative capacity. Hay bales and fences can be stacked (but it's actully only an optical illusion, as the fences are placed such that they look like they're stacked, but in fact one is behind the other. I've seen people build skyscrapers on thier farms by 'stacking' fences – some 30 fences high. There are a lot of creative things you can do with FarmVille, that were not really intended for the game.

There are major bugs with the Zynga Farmville app. I and many of my friends are getting "Out of Sync with Server" message for days and some weeks on end. Zynga spends time putting out new items but can not seem to be bothered to fix the bugs in their application. I think we need to boycott all the Zynga games and hold onto our $$. Does anyone have any way to fix this problem?

Farm games are farm games. How different can they be? Everything about Farm-ville is better than Farm-town. I quit playing Farm-town. The graphics are terrible and the game is slow.

I have an apple and Farm-ville never freezes, when I play, but at peak times it loses "bits and pieces" and I have to re-load. I think the servers are just overwhelmed, at times.

I got burnt and my family were very annoyed with "videos" being sent to them.The sharks must be having a heyday…FB is well aware with all their info but no help…had to pay Mcafee $90 to have someone clean my computer.They should be warning people! Their security page will scare you with examples and descriptions of scams such as chatting under a stolen name to solicit money eg.I'm stranded…

I play farmville very often and it always seem that whenever I try to accept gifts from friends and neighbors something always goes wrong with the program and I loose the items. This is starting to piss me off!!. Good luck trying to contact Zynga to complain, you have better chance of eating brunch with the Queen. I think people should boycott this application until we are treated with some respect.

I don't have much good to say about Farmville. The graphics are better than Farmtown, the new Mafia Wars tractor can plow up to 9 plots for you, and Zynga is eluding to the fact they'll have even bigger plots than 24X24 (where you can literally build your own city, they say).

However, Farmtown has better playability. Granted it's not perfect, you can get more land (2nd farm). After having picked every plot for your avatar to work, if you leave your farm while the avatar is only 1/2 done, it will be finished if you go right back. There's places in the game where you can interact with other players with the ability to hire or get hired. You can get a gasoline refill once a day, whereas you have to use Farmville bucks to pay for gas there.

I am having 2 big problems: no farmville posts from my neighbors show up on my home page. Unable to see bouquets, bonuses, requests for barn raisings or fertilizing, mystery eggs, etc., etc.

What upsets me is the fact I can’t afford to ‘purchase’ FV dollars. They build up too slow & I miss out on some really good things. I have a million & a half coins, but it doesn’t help with a lot of things, you need those farm dollars. Also, now you have to go to everyone’s ‘wall’ to get the lost animals, eggs, collectibles. This is very time consuming & irritating. I’m a good neighbor by helping & gifting & it’s a major pain to have to check everyone’s wall every day. Also, I’m seeing a lot of these people getting a farm set up, then just leaving it. No crop turnover, no gifts. What is their purpose?

I've not farmed for a month, to keep track of my coins after losses & prove they've not credited me. I'm writing to their headquarters & the more people I can cite, the better. farmville, is so screwed up, the gifting is a loose, loose win situation, it freezes up, the new changes are as bad as the old ones. you end up exiting the game, as it takes so long to get it going again. when you go from one neighbor to the next, it takes as long as five minutes, to get anything done, in the mean time you have lost any chances to aquir anything, right now all I have been able to see is something that happened thirty minutes earlier. pleas stop enhancing, and starte correcting the screwed up mess that the game is in.

I like the game. I play everyday, started 4 months ago and am up to level 34. I too can’t afford to pay “real-life” money for make-believe stuff, and I can see that at one point, I’m going to get tired of the errors, lost gifts and coins and just stop playing. It takes WAY too long to visit neighbors and there are other quirks too. And it burns me up when others cheat…. mostly because I can’t figure out how they do it!!!

You can't move ur plots. You can either wait for ur crops to finish growing, then harvest, delete the plot (using the red hoe down in the corner above ur gift box)…or you can just delete the plot while it's still growing. Then you just replow wherever you want to.

And no, you can't convert coins into cash. Sorry.

If you're having to visit your friends' pages to see Farmville stuff cuz it won't show up on your 'home' page, it means you've somehow accidentally hidden Farmville from your news/live feed. Here's how to fix that:

On Facebook, click on 'Home'

Click on 'Top News'

Go to the bottom of the page.

Across from 'Older Posts' there should be 'Edit Options'…click on that (if you don't see it, then you have nothing hidden)

When the little window opens, click on 'Applications'

Scroll down the list and see if Farmville is in that list.

If it is, click on the 'Add to News Feed' link.

Go back to the top and click on 'Most Recent'

Now you should be all set. Happy Farming!

I’ve had nothing but trouble with FarmVille, my face at the bottom of the screen dissapears constantly, buildings that I bought dissapear, things I put in storage dissapear, because were they are stored dissapears, like in a barn or an out building that dissapears! It was a constant thing almost every day! I haven’t tried to play FarmVille since March 3rd of this year! But, Zynga had no problem taking the money I tried to play with from my PayPal account! I wrote them and they said sorry our Terms Of Service states no refunds. It also says, Quote “No refunds will be given, except in our sole and absolute discretion.” So, I am going to Dispute it with PayPal and my Bank where PayPal gets the money to pay for it. Nice, huh, the game is malfunctioning and they keep my money. I’ve called them and sent several emails!

I loved this game when I first started to play it, now I am very dissatisfied with it, I will never play any Zynga Games again! I want to delete any mention of it from my Facebook. Don’t ever send Zynga any money to advance in the FarmVille game or any of their games! It looks like to me things will get worse!

Here is one of several Zynga’s “Terms Of Servic” policies below:

i used to love farm town but and i really hated farmville cuz i think they copied farmtown and it doesnt have a town.. the graphics in farmville is way better though.. but now i dislike farm town not hate it.. and like farmville.. also i think zynga copied happy aquarium to fishville.. not sure..

I cant feed my pet because I cant get it to open my gift box. I lose 2 fv dollars for this reason. These are to hard to com by for a dog that you cant feed. I cant empty my gifts because it WONT let me. Im a very dedicated farmville farmer but this keeps up I WONT be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I myself like farm town much better since you do not have to spend nearly as much money to get things and you also have a lot more interaction with people as well on farm town. I totally disagree with people who say farm ville is less glitchy than farm town. The problem is most of these people don’t know tech info about computers, the fact of the matter is that adobe flash player is glitchy and not super stable in either program, in farm ville like farm town you can click on a square and it somtimes don’t register and the avatars on both games are slow and clumsy. also the picture flashes as well, and the whole thing moves, thank you Microsoft. you don’t have this problem with apple operating systems since most servers operate on lynx operating systems like apple do. so with that ill stick with farm town, good day.

I want to expand my farm & it won't give any options to do so now. I'm not sure if I need ay more neighbors or not. Would I be able to just but it out right or what. Up until a week or so ago it gave the option when I went to the market and choose expand. Now when I do this it's BLANK nothing is in the box at all under Expand. Please help me out. Of all the great zynga games I truly belive one stands out. Yoville! I love it! I play it everyday! It's better than mafia wars(I don't even know how to move in that wack game) it's better than cafe world(all you do is serve fat people and sure you can have neighbors in it but you can't see them in the game when their online.)And it's most deffinetly better than farmville. You can meet nice people, you can go to parties, you can buy lots of cool new furniture. You can own the very best collictibles,you can buy houses, mansions, even castles, and you can buy your very cute little fluffy pet animal! If zynga can build another game like that I'd totally be all over it.

Well a new game for us to play or not to play lol, I play farm town and to be honest over the last couple of weeks it has got really bad with a crash crash here and a crash crash there here a crash there a crash lol, Why dont they fix there servers ffs, why add new items when the old one dont work yet, they are ccccccccccccccccrazy.. I have been playing farmville for several months now and I've tried ur other games but farmville is the one that i enjoy the most but I am having problems with it. I have excepted a friend of mine several times as a neighbor and farmville still hasn't added her as my neighbor. Then when i got to get the game feed it is alwys going to activity feed and every other day i take care of my bees and it says i haven't and I end up losing bees. If you want this game to continue being a sucess you should be able to buy things that you want with your coins and not farmville cash. You don't give us enough farmville cash to buy things we want or to even finish a theme like the New England theme I love but i can't afford to go and get a credit card and then purchase things. Please help us or your going to end up losing us and I have already lost several neighbors becasue of the causes i have listed so HELP us instead of making it harder for us or I'll stop this game as well and take everyone of my neighbors with me. Thank you.

You really should move to Farm Town. There are some items that take cash but a majority of items can be purchased with coins and you can earn more by working in the marketplace. I realize that many people think Zynga's graphics are better, but I hate FarmVille's cartoonish appearance. Farm Town has more realistic graphics. You can fish on Farm Town, add things to your storage, and run facilities using the crops and products you raise or receive as gifts. Also, you can hire others to harvest and plow for you. I never run out of fuel now on Farm Town because I own five oil pumps and a oil refinery. In my opinion, Farm Town beats FarmVille by far. BTW, I have five farms on Farm Town.

At what level in the bakery do we level up without using coins or Dollars?? I think we spend tooooo much time bakin g without an improvement in our bakery? It is good for Zynga because it take soooo much fuel to do the extra farming for baking but we do not recognize enough recovery of fuel for the work? I have lots of samples from my friends, but still use REAL dollars to buy fuel.

I was going to make the same comment. Obviously the person who wrote this review didn't realize that one of the major attractions to FT is the ability to hire people to work for you (and vice versa). Zynga does definitely have the cuteness factor working for them, although the sizing of different things on the farm is not consistent. I have to say, as much as I love FT, the animals are pretty stupid looking. I'd like to have more realistic looking horses etc.

I need help. I was trying to rotate my Alaska house and when I hit the rotate my house disappeared. I am unable to place the new house that I brought I cannot place anything in that part where the house once was. I need help I cannot put anything in that area what can be done? on january 11 2012 i bought a zynga farmville 10.00 card at Wal- Mart . I went into gamecards and but in the pin numbers . There was a message that came up that said it was down do to maintenance . I waited tell the next morning 1-12-12 and put the pin numbers in again and it said the numbers had already been used. No they weren;t and i never got my farmville moneys . I don;t know why no one can fix this for me i still have my card with pin numbers this is some bull that no one will fix this . Now i can see why some people want to stop playing this game . on 1 -11-12 I bought a zynga farmville card i went to gamecard and put in my pin numbers as soon as i got that done a message came up that said it was down for maintenance . I went into farmville to start playing and my farmville cash wasn't there so i waited and the next day 1-12-12 i went in and put the pin numbers in again it said the numbers had already been used . i never got anything from this .
