VW is rolling out a new technology for their cars called “BlueMotion” which apparently makes their cars more environmentally friendly through the reduction of carbon output. To promote the new vehicles, the company, with the help of 1MD, has rolled out a new Facebook Connect-enabled promotion. Like previous campaigns we’ve covered, this one integrates user data directly into a flash video.
For the most part this video does not have an excessive use of profile data, as the novelty of such functionality is slowly beginning to wear off. You can watch the entire video clip embedded below or try it out yourself. After watching the entire promotion I was redirected to a website to view the new cars, however I couldn’t find an English version!
While I’d assume that the bug will eventually be worked out, they’ve lost at least one potential customer so far. Recently we’ve been receiving an increasing number of video integrate Facebook Connect promotions and each one has mixed results. Often times we run into bugs as a result of having too many contacts on Facebook. While I’m sure most people don’t have to deal with this, it can be pretty annoying.
This latest promotion, which in many ways resembles the Spring 3G commercials, is definitely worth checking out. So go try it out and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
