Over the past 36 hours, a Facebook bug has been causing users to see an application installed on their account called “Unnamed application”. Facebook says that the bug has been fixed, however hundreds of people are continuing to post status updates about the issue. While users are claiming that it’s spyware, it’s a bug in Facebook which should not damage your account or computer in any way.
While the number of users affected by the bug is unknown, at the peak of the issue being reported, there were hundreds of people posting status updates about the issue every second. Yesterday evening we watched Facebook search as numerous users posted status updates like:
Has your facebook been running slow lately? Check your ‘application settings’, go into ‘added to profile’. If you see one in there called”un named app” delete it… Its an internal spybot. Pass it on…………
While a much greater percentage of status updates this evening are related to the Apple iPad announcement, there are still hundreds if not thousands of users posting about the error. Facebook however is saying that the issue has since been fixed. Unfortunately Facebook is not providing any other details but based on what users have been telling us, removing the application resulted in your boxes tab being removed from Facebook.
It was most definitely a strange bug, but it isn’t something that you should be overly concerned about. If you are still noticing this glitch, please let us know in the comments!

All this day in FB-I cant'open my inbox, my chat room not works, when i play FV game, I can;t click nowhere, nothing is working, I can;t post comments in FV, I can't publish my collections in FV.In one word-FB is totaly DEAD!!!!!

I read one of the above posts and ended up losing my Boxes Tab… However I suspected this might not be a genuine bug but rather a FB glitch, so I googled how to reinstall the Boxes Tab and once I had it back I checked my settings and the unnamed app re appeared – this confirmed my suspicion that it was related to FB changes… I have noticed that they are preparing a Games Dashboard and an Apps Dashboard – this suggests they are putting all 3rd party applications on perhaps a more stable system that will enable FB to run faster and perhaps not slow down the games users – if this is the case then all is good… unfortunately despite FB's promises and big words… they still go ahead with any change they think of without any regard for us, the reason they exist ! They never warn us of changes or give us instructions about them – we have become experts in the "trial & error" method and in updating each other in various ways as FB creators and developers don’t care at all about us…

I have ended up loosing my chat box now and cannot chat to any of my friends any longer. It just won't let me open it…. HELP..! Do I have to close my account and start again..? I really hope not…

My problems are much the same as VITA’s. I’m able to click on my Inbox, Notifications, Applications, etc. (anywhere other than my News Feed or my own profile) but the screen never loads. The tab reads “loading” but then it shows a blank screen. Basically I’m not able to navigate anywhere past my News Feed or profile.
Anyone else having these issues? Is it just a glitch? It’s been the same problem since yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

Facebook had been running very slow & when I saw this message, I thought ‘great a fix’. I immediately found the ‘Unnamed App’ and removed it, only to find my Boxes Tab disappeared and I had to reinstall that!

Trying to convince people that it indeed was NOT spyware and that the message spreading around was only a hoax was shockingly difficult – how could it possibly be spyware?

I've had the same problem since yesterday! Can't comment on posts…can't post a status…can't pull up my chat list or my notifications…and can't open any applications!! In other words…can't do anything!! I can see what everyone else is doing, but can't join in! HELP! It's annoying the hell out of me!

ok so when i go ito an app like FV on FB it loads my age oer and over after making the app window a darkershade like i dimmed my computer anyone else with this problem

I am having the same problem. My farmville one story line allowed to post without prompting has been compromised. I can only see the short stories. How can I fix this. I have deleted the unnamed apps and am still having this issue. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting this tab in Farmville right now for the beehive ask for help. Basically, I think it's less 'hijacker' and more the fact that the programmer somehow lost the app's name while working on various issues. People on FB are definitely tired of all these issues and they need to get this fixed asap and worry less about making all the fancy junk which costs coins or real money to purchase for play pleasure.
