Just when I said that the Connect video promotions had become a trend, I noticed a comment on Facebook highlighting yet another video promotion, this time for the television show CSI. This promotion involves the user depicted as a criminal who’s being pursued by the CSI team. It’s a creative use of Facebook Connect however it’s fairly similar to many of the other promotion that we’ve written about in the past, including the Fight Club promotion which we covered on Friday.

Talk about a big change. In an update posted to the Facebook Marketing page last Thursday, Facebook announced changes to their guidelines for sweepstakes and promotions (found here). The changes mark a major shift from Facebook’s previous policies under which companies could launch campaigns easily without any form of permission. All of the changes are highlighted below.

Want to send a branded Terminator gift to your friends? Maybe not but what if you knew that the gift would also generate money for your friends, would you do that? I would guess that there’s a much better chance you’d send the gift. In a campaign for the new Terminator movie, Facebook is incentivizing users to send out gifts to their friends by also including 10 gift credits for free. The promotion also includes a custom gifts tab within the Terminator Salvation page.
