Facebook Marketplace has undergone a few changes in the past few months or so, and in an effort to maintain prominence for users, the Facebook Marketplace is adding a new feature today as well. Called “Shout” the new feature aims to make the Facebook classifieds more social.

Last month Facebook and Oodle relaunched the Facebook classifieds product. Over the past day or so the application has witnessed a surge in traffic as Facebook moved the application into users’ application bookmarks by default. The result was that 60,000 additional users visited the application yesterday, but so far none of those users appear to be happy.

Today, Facebook and Oodle will announce the launch of the new classified product which will replace the old Marketplace application. In contrast to the previous iteration of the application, all classified listings can be posted for free. The service also includes an increased level of integration into Facebook’s social graph. What’s great about Facebook classifieds over traditional online classifieds is that there is a social aspect which increases security.

Today Oodle has announced that they’ve been chosen to power the Facebook marketplace. If you’ve been checking out the Facebook marketplace recently you would have noticed that many of the postings haven’t been updating. For whatever reason, it looks like the company was having some issues managing their marketplace. My guess is that they’ve determined that their time is best spent investing in the platform, Connect, and advertising optimization.
