On Thursday, Google released their annual Zeitgiest, a view into the fastest rising, and fastest falling search terms on Google in 2010. While Facebook has historically made a strong showing on the year-end list, surprising to us was that it seemed to be losing some ground this year.

Facebook Remains Among Fastest Growing Search Terms For Second Year
Yesterday Google released their annual Zeitgeist, a measure of the fastest growing search terms on the web for the year. Once again, Facebook was one of the fastest growing search terms for the year. The keyword “Facebook” was the second largest keyword globally, coming right behind “Michael Jackson” who was the most popular search this year for obvious reasons.

Facebook and Obama Top the Google Zeitgeist
Google has released their 2008 zeitgeist and coming in second in the United States, just behind “Obama” was “Facebook”. The third fastest growing global google term currently is “facebook login”. Facebook has grown at a blistering pace since they launched their platform over a year and a half ago. At the time of the platform launch, the company had approximately somewhere between 30 and 40 million users and has since grown to over 130 million.
