LOLapps is officially launching today, after having been in stealth mode for well over six months now. The company is actually a developer firm that’s behind many apps you’re probably familiar with, including Quiz Creator and Gift Creator. If you spend any time on Facebook, you’ve likely come across one of the many user-generated applications LOLapps powers, such as “Which Sex & the City Character Are You?” among others.

The company reports that its official launch comes with over 44 million monthly unique visitors to its applications. The data itself has been difficult to verify since LOLapps was in stealth mode for so long and has not listed itself as the developer behind Gift Creator and Quiz Creator. But with $4.5 million in funding from Polaris Ventures and angel invstors including Ron Conway, the company certainly has the resources to reach a great deal of users across several social networking platforms.

The Bad Taste Bears application on Facebook has found itself on the fastest-growing app leaderboard. While the application itself is among the many powered by Gift Creator, the user that created it has tapped into a potential branding opportunity that the Bad Taste Bears could take advantage of. Though there a number of applications and groups dedicated to the cult-like following of these novelty bears, only one has seen significant growth in the past month, reaching upwards of 5,000 monthly users.

Anne’s Bad Taste Bears application is in fact a gifting application, which allows you to send virtual representations of these cute but raunchy collectibles to friends. The real Bad Taste Bears are based in the UK, which is an area of the world that’s seeing a good amount of adoption for the Facebook social network. But Facebook’s own global reach could help push the Bad Taste Bears brand even further, with applications that are gaining this amount of traction.

Gift Creator is a new application on Facebook that lets you create your own gifting application. It works much like the Quiz Creator applications that gained popularity last year, and there is in fact a quiz creator option within the Gift Creator app. It’s easier to use than the Gift Creator option, and doesn’t require any additional downloads.

The Gift Creator option, however, will require that you install The Facebook Developer App, since you are effectively creating an application that acts almost autonomously within the Facebook platform. You won’t need any programming skills in order to complete the application or the installation. All you need to create a gifting app is a title, a description and an image. Each image you upload represents a single gift. Facebook users can send this gift to their friends.
