‘My Wife, Her High School Love Reunited on Facebook!’

I consider myself to be a pretty educated guy, smart, personable. I’m a great dad and have tried to be a caring husband. I’ve never been one to hang out with the guys. Not a boozer. Never been a womanizer, not even in my single days. My life basically revolves around my wife and kids, and that’s how I’ve kind of always pictured my life to be. Corny? OK. Nothing wrong with being an average Joe — I’ll accept the banner and wear it proudly! So how is it that my wife is filing for divorce. My two worlds, our 7-year-old twin boys, are living with her. How did it all come to this? Facebook!

Facebook Responsible For 20 Percent Of Divorces

One of the best uses of Facebook is to catch your cheating spouse! According to one law firm, over 20 percent of new divorce petitions contain references to Facebook. Mark Keenan, Managing Director of Divorce-Online said “The most common reason seemed to be people having inappropriate sexual chats with people they were not supposed to.” While I’m not sure how people get caught having inappropriate private chats with others, the technical details were not described by the law firm.

Wife Learns of Divorce via Facebook Status Update

Finding out your marriage is over via Facebook may be one of the worst experiences you could have. Yet that’s exactly what happened to Emma Brady, 39, when her husband of 12 years changed his relationship status on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail. To Neil Brady’s friends, the message on their news feeds read “Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady.”

The worst part about this situation is the fact that Emma says she had no idea her marriage was in such dire straights until a friend saw Neil’s updated relationship status and called her at work to see if she was all right. It’s painful enough to go through marital problems and even a divorce. It can be just as painful to have to deal with the social consequences of divorcing, so Neil’s public denouncement of his marriage via Facebook has turned into a very humiliating situation for Emma.
