Announcing Our Upgraded Facebook Statistics Tools

YouTube Fans Chart Icon

A few months ago the AllFacebook statistics tools that I originally built myself stopped working. The reason was that I had effectively crashed a bunch of servers and resulting from database tables that were storing too much data. While there were technical issues that I could go into detail about, I’ll save you the detail and let you know that we now have a dramatically upgraded set of statistics tools which are tracking over 1.4 million Facebook applications and approximately 8 million Facebook Pages. You can view them here.

How Can AllFacebook Better Help You?

Over the past three years I’ve had the pleasure of building out AllFacebook. Whether it was tracking the daily news of the company as it grew from over 10 million to now almost 500 million, or helping track the businesses emerging on the Facebook Platform, we’ve had the opportunity to see one of the most influential global organizations grow dramatically. However we need your help in moving forward.

We’ve Upgraded The AllFacebook Statistics Area

AllFacebook Large Icon

As I mentioned when I was rolling out the new AllFacebook design a week or two ago, I’ve been upgrading the statistics tools on this site after crashing some of our servers. Over the past few weeks I’ve been upgrading the database and reprogramming some of the tools so that they’re more efficiently structured. Today we’re pushing out the upgraded versions of the app tracker and page tracker which has been down for the past few weeks. You’ll notice that it looks just like before except that it’s integrated into the new layout.

Changes Coming To AllFacebook

AllFacebook Logo Small

I’m happy to announce the launch of a new design and new stage for AllFacebook. Over the past two years I have been building up this site to become the leading resource for everything pertaining to Facebook. For the most part this site has experienced tremendous growth but it has not come without challenges. Over the past month or so you probably noticed some issues with our statistics applications as well as other features on this site.

Happy New Year!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the readers of this blog for an amazing 2008. This site has grown tremendously from when I first started it last May. After looking at my Google Analytics tonight I realized one thing: persistence is key to success. This month has been a break through month for this blog and next month will be even more incredible as I’m preparing to release a number of new things.

AllFacebook Welcomes Facebook Connect

I’m proud to say that we’ve finally implemented Facebook Connect. It has been weeks in the making and without the help of Josh Elman and Adam Hupp over at Facebook this wouldn’t have been done this week! For now all that I’ve implemented is an easy way to comment on posts but in the coming weeks I’m going to be rolling out a large number of new features that build directly on top of Adam’s plugin.

Now You Can Chart Facebook’s Demographics

Yesterday Facebook updated their demographic data and announced that the site now has over 140 million active users. We’ve been tracking the site’s growth over the past year and a half and we decided to let our readers get their hands on our data to see what interesting things they come up with. We have been tracking basic data from Facebook over the past few months and now I’ve developed a Facebook demographic statistics tool to let all of our readers track information including country, gender, and age groups.

I’ve already been able to uncover some interesting data and the other people that I’ve shared this tool with have found some really interesting data. In terms of the data accuracy, we are currently using Facebook’s publicly provided information from their ad service. I’m also implementing some data smoothing models and given Facebook’s delay in updating their data we are off by a small fraction.

We Have a Drink!

Based on the classic Moscow Mule drink, Smirnoff has created the “All Facebook” Moscow Mule. The drink is a combination of vodka, blueberries, sugar, and ginger ale. I haven’t had a chance to try the drink but definitely let me know if you do!
