RockYou Finds Success With Zoo World, Where’s Zynga?

RockYou, one of the largest Facebook application developers, has spent the past few months shifting its focus to social gaming. One of the company’s latest games, Zoo World, has more than tripled in the past month, growing from 3.1 million to over 9.9 million monthly active users. With the rapid growth, one would imagine that Zynga will quickly follow suit with ZooVille, however another company currently holds the trademark.

While Zynga could easily create a zoo application and call it something other than ZooVille, the name wouldn’t follow the pattern of the company’s latest games: PetVille, FishVille, and FarmVille. The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office currently states that a company named “SocialApps, LLC” trademarked the term “ZOOVILLE” on November 16, 2009. We’ve never head of SocialApps, LLC though but it appears to be registered in California by Tom Hansen, someone else we’ve never heard of.

Regardless of the ZooVille mystery, Zoo World is currently growing rapidly, boosting RockYou into the second position of the top Facebook application developers. While game play is a little clunky when it comes to making purchases, Zoo World continues to add around 200,000 users a day. It would be great if all the activities could take place within the flash application rather than moving between pages, but I’m assuming RockYou is working on upgrading the application as it grows.

While Zynga may not currently be competing in the simulation zoo space, there are already numerous other developers taking a shot at competing with RockYou. Zoo Builder, My Zoo, The Zoo Game, and Zoo Sim are just a few of the applications looking to compete with Zoo World. We’ll have to wait a while to see if the zoos are able to catch up with the extremely popular Facebook farms, but for now it appears that RockYou has a firm grip on the Facebook zoo market.

Since yesterday, I have been unable to a access my zoo, or to visit my friend's zoo's. What must I do to fix is? (I have already cleared my history folder).

Every day there is a problem with the zoo world site. I either can't visit my friends zoos, or the whole thing freezes and says that the google chrome is not responding when in fact I know it is because it works else where. Your prompt attention to fixing these problems would really be greatful not only for me but all of the other millions of people on here, Thank you

It first started with my boyfriends account, then mine started doing it to….When the posts appear to save an animal and post it for other players to adopt, we are unable to click on accept or ignore. This is very frustrating, as the only way to clear it is for us refresh the screen. And we are usually in the middle of something, and have to start over….not to mention the lost credit for saving animals!!! And another problem that is happening is that right in the middle of the zoo screen is a "dead area" and I am unable to click on anything unless I move the map to the left or right of center screen. But this problems is more bothersome than actually effecting the game play. PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM!!! Sincerely, Susan Kilpatrick

ok i agree there is a problem with it loading it freshes its self 3 or 4 times before it opens at the beginning. also the part about the wildlife money is unreal . you never get any. never have found the way to recieve it. and can't advance with the breeder specialist at such a high price of wildlife points . some times are just not right and some are just dumb. you have enough animals to make breeding pairs but yet you can't breed them until you pay for with wildlife points. im stuck. if the game doesn't get to moving faster i will be not playing. also there is a virus loose a few friends got trojans while being on facebook so scan your computers.

One night I was adding new additions to my zoo and it started acting erratic, then suddenly went out. Now every link I have for zoo world no longer works and I have been unable to access using any method. Is there a problem with the site in general or is it my computer having problems accessing the app, which seems to be the case with many Facebook games lately.

I have been unable to access zoo world for the past 2 1/2 hrs. Of course the is right when I need to feed my baby the last time after waiting 120 hrs. to breed it. Very disappointing. I hope I have not lost it.

I haven't been able to add or edit my zoo going into the 7th week. For 5 days now I can't load zoo. I keep getting , error Game World not loading . Any suggestions besides clearing cache ?? When I posted to Zoo World I was basically told to find another App. I've built my zoo to over 6 million & don't really want to just delete it !?

I have not been able to bred any animals for 2 days now when I move the cursor over the animal and the box thats supposed to say how long it takes to bred and how much and how many wildlife points is blank and when I go to the breed square and click that nothing happens. what can I do?

I see all the problems listed, some like I have had, but there are not any solutions listed. I have been unable to visit my zoo or my friends zoo for over a week now; therefore, I am unable to make any money which I need before I can move to the next level. What good does it do to list these problems, if you are not going to tell us how to fix them????

I am unable to buy any animals as none of them are showing up only the ultra rare ones. I have over 5 of every animal so that is not the problem

I have read the above comments and do not believe the problems are entirely ZW’s issue to deal with. I’ve only been playing ZW for 2 months now and have a $300 million dollar zoo with $250 million in the bank. I’ve leveled up consistantly and understand now how the game works. I’ve not had problems buying animals and gifting seems to be working very well. Breeding and adopting are fine with no problems. I did have one weekend where connection was a problem, but shutting down the computer and restarting took care of the problem. I have run it on a netbook with XP and Firefox, as well as a laptop with Windows 7 and Firefox.

when I purchase animals from the store or get anything from the feed it does not appear at my zoo when I enter anymore. This has been happening for 2 days. What is wrong, I cleaned my cache and have rebooted the computer over and over to know prevail. Any help would b appreciated.

this is a protest to the zoo world game I have been fighting lvl33 for 3 week are better and have 5 of every animal but still wont give me my lvl 33 why it was breed 5 of every specie but went down to 4 but I dont the 5 so pleae correct my game so I can move ahead again if anyone is listening I would be very happy and there are a bunch posted on the forums u really need to check the forums as see what is going on

WILL SOMEONE STAND UP AND TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO STRAIGHTEN THE GAME OUT SO WE CAN ALL GO ON WITH OUR GAME

i hope this is the right site so her goes my zoo world is working all except when i go to shop it tells me go to visit zoo and hit shop there and it does the same thing it starts loading and wont go off of it i can do everything but buy animals, hospitals etc., i hope you can help me out thank you mary farmer i really enjoy playing the game

i have been having problems with my zoo world for around2 months now i keep getting flash version: 10.0.45.2 user id 1067296660 invalid input. i have cleared my files i have uninsalled flash pler and reinstall and i have don all of this and still my game still messes up and it is getting annoying. please help me fix this becuase i really love this game. thank you to anyone who can help.

I was accepting my gifts for Zoo world and then my screen went blank and now I can't get into my zoo world application and it isn't showing up anywhere. When my friends try to send me something my name doesn't appear in their account but my zoo still shows up on my friends as I am still there. What do I need to do? It seems as if something is blocked under my facebook account that I can not access it.

i been using zoo world for almost 5 months now and never had a problem with accessing my zoo or anything now my zoo seems to no longer exist or anything anywhere and i can not figure out what happened?? i would like to resolve this matter so i can either get my zoo back or start over with another one if that one was lost?? not sure whether the application got blocked or what happened if it did how do i go about unblocking it??

I bought a new island and in putting it on the map it mixed with another island. A lot of my things I have bought went into storage and have now DISAPPEARED!! How do I get them back? I have tried everything, cleaning browsing and cache, restart, and nothing brings them back. I have worked hard on my zoo and want my things back. Please help me!

I have been having a problem with Zoo World. When I click on the zoo dollars, it states I should be collecting 18 thousand and I only get 18 dollars. When I click on anything like trees or topiary the money may give me one zoo dollar after 3 or 4 trees or topiary. This has been going on for over 2 weeks and I can't get the money I need to buy. So I just stopped buying and letting the money add up that I do get. Can I please get some help so that I can buy bigger items with the zoo dollars that I should have.

It has been almost 6 days since I have been able to get into my zoo. I amusing Google Chrome, have cleaned the cache and deleted all the websites in the cache folder.

I can accept gifts, send gifts and buy items, but can't get into the zoo.

Problems once again with zoo world loading. Wouldnt load for 10 days. Managed to play for a week and then down again for three days. June 3 they said they kept posting they knew about the problem and rock u app was working on it. Ha,, still nothing at all. No response from rock u yet either through email. So tired of hearing clear your history.cache. Like what gamer dosent know that already!

There is a limit on islands and there is a lack of space for animals on them. Also i would like to suggest that all animals be able to be adopted in stead of only a one hour open window for adoption. Beacuse of the nasty and dirty, oily water line in the Gulf Shore Lines any animal that can be adopted leave it open for as long as it takes BP to get the oil totally cleaned up from the waters of America that would be the right gesture for facebook to do for the 4th of July that is freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been a week now and my zoo has been all screwed up i have lost mega points and half of the pages run into each other it totally stinks and i am not keeping it if it doesn't get fixed in another da or so i have tried going out of it and blocking it and going back it nothing is helping and i am sure i am not the only one with this issue, then to top it off try and find a place to let them know u have issues what a pain it si so what the heck is happening now?

They havent fixed the missing island issue for nearly 2 months now. But yet they constantly roll out new promotions and animals (pay ones of course always work and never have a problem). Its either they dont care to fix it, or are totally incompetent to fix anything. But all of the major problems zookeepers are having seem to coincide with the release of Zoo2 (which they piggy backed on zooworld 1).

Dont even wanna think of their "compesation package" is going to be for the affected zoos, but I'm sure it will be mainly "juices" which are totally useless. People have lost potential levels, WLP's and zoo dollars.

The issue with the errors with Facebook dollars has never been resolved, and this is almost 2 years later. While I have received numerous refunds and help from the Farmville staff, I have consistently met with rude replies, responses that let me know that the responder never really read the complaint and stonewalling. After 4 months, RockYou finally admitted that it was a problem with their systems and refunded me only 100 of the 600 missing credit I purchased to buy animals for the game which cannot be purchased with zoo bucks. I reported RockYou to the Attorney General of the State of California and got a mailed response from them that If enough of us complain, they will investigate not only RockYou but Facebook too, since they are both based in California and they are ripping off so many customers.

The issue with the errors with Facebook dollars has never been resolved, and this is almost 2 years later. While I have received numerous refunds and help from the Farmville staff, I have consistently met with rude replies, responses that let me know that the responder never really read the complaint and stonewalling. After 4 months, RockYou finally admitted that it was a problem with their systems and refunded me only 100 of the 600 missing credit I purchased to buy animals for the game which cannot be purchased with zoo bucks. I reported RockYou to the Attorney General of the State of California and got a mailed response from them that If enough of us complain, they will investigate not only RockYou but Facebook too, since they are both based in California and they are ripping off so many customers.
