Pakistan Bans Facebook

Islam Protests ImagePakistan, a country with over 2.3 million Facebook users, has banned the use of Facebook temporarily due to a Facebook group called “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!” It’s an issue which clearly highlights the difficulties in managing and monitoring content that isn’t offensive in various cultures. The group’s details states “Hopefully this page will spark seroius debates in international forums.” It’s pretty clear the group of more than 44,000 members has accomplished its goals.

Facebook has a history of allowing controversial groups to develop a presence on the site. From Holocaust denial groups, to groups that call on the death of Obama (found here), Facebook is consistently filled with groups that can be considered offensive by most.

Facebook has erred in the direction of “free speech”, however where that line should be drawn has not been very clear. For a long period of time, Facebook allowed Holocaust denial groups and comments, before the company eventually caved and banned the groups. The extent to which “drawing a Mohammed” can result in massive backlash in Middle Eastern countries is significant.

As the BBC points out, “Publications of similar cartoons in Danish newspapers in 2005 sparked angry protests in Muslim countries – five people were killed in Pakistan.” For this latest group, a High Court Justice ordered Facebook to be blocked until May 31st. According to the BCC, the ban was eventually lifted, however it’s pretty clear that tension still exists, given that the group still exists.

Do you think this is similar to Facebook’s Holocaust denial groups?

Pakistan done a good job to block facebook. All Muslim countries should do this.

  2. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. If the US is a sovereign country then individuals and collective groups should be allowed to have any view and assemble (including online) they want which does not interfere with others' rights or with an intentions for violence. Facebook should not have caved on allowing Holocaust Denier Groups.

Asking the question, "Do you think this is similar to Facebook’s Holocaust denial groups?" is like asking "does every country have freedom of speech" and does every country have separation of church and state. The answer is obviously no.

  3. This group should absolutely be allowed to exist. It's about time people stood up to this ridiculous overreaction by a culture that, in threatening to harm and kill others over a picture, is acting against the interest of the religion they're claiming to protect.

If Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Scientologists, Mormons, and all other ilk can handle the occasional jab without resorting to violence, Muslims should learn that they are perfectly capable of sucking it up and taking their lumps along with everybody else. ESPECIALLY when such comments are made in a non-Muslim nation that promises free speech to its citizens.

  5. I think this group should be banned… it sounds innocent enough, to draw a picture, but that plays on most people's ignorance of Islamic teachings and how blasphemous they consider creating an image of their prophet–equally or even more of an assault as denying the holocaust.

BTW, I am not a Muslim.

I am a hard lined believer in a higher power I can see how they are upset. The wonderful thing about free speech id the right to say what you think. But it also allows for the right to be offended. Kudos to any person or group that is willing to stand up for their belief system and ban a product or service they find offensive.

  9. I have decided the trick to coming to peaceful terms with Islam is to take their philosophy of worship and one up them. Not only is it bad to draw Muhammad, it should be considered blasphemy of the worst sort to speak of him at all and think of him.

  10. No, it's not the same as Holocaust denial. When fun is made of Jesus, no one threats the authors that they will be killed, lest really kill them! And take a look at what kind of response the Danish drawings were met with. This is to show the Muslim people that the others have the right to express their opinions and you have to draw some boundaries. I may be offended by a caricature of my beliefs, but I would not go and kill the offender, because I am NORMAL.

  11. Exactly, Pawel. For this reason I will definitely be participating and drawing Mohammad. No nut job is going to intimidate me in my own country. If you don't like freedom of speech or expression, get the hell out of the United States of America.

    Comment by Amy Machete — May 19, 2010 @ 11:19 am

  12. No, of course it's not the same. Holocaust deniers are claiming that 6 million people didn't die, and in doing so, are making light of the issue. Draw Muhammad Day is poking fun at a ridiculous religious belief that the Muhammad boogie monster will be mad if you draw him. If calling attention to ridiculous Muslim beliefs means Muslim on Muslim violence then so be it. It is an outrage that we cater to violent muslims and censor ourselves.

but u people have no shame. there is nothing like scene of shame in nations like u.

u talk about freedom of speech. what freedom of speech. u r just going against Islam.

dont for forget if u believe in FREEDOM OF SPEECH. then its right to believe in FREEDOM OF DEED like 9/11 and 7/7

then its or right. america is invading on Muslim countries so to protect world from so called terrorist.

i didnt understand it.. if non-Muslim kill someone its WAR against terrorist. and if some Muslim kills someone within you he is terrorist.

  15. All the non Muslims who have commented here just following the information they are being fed to them by their media. They don't know anything about ISLAM. We love and respect all human beings; it is our duty being MUSLIMS. Now may be you find many Muslims going against ISLAM's teachings but this doesn't mean that ISLAM's teachings are wrong. So as a human being hurting someone either physically or emotionally is a crime. Then how all these non Muslims who have commented here can justify their deed as righteous? Obviously they are doing this just because of their biased approach towards ISLAM & MUSLIMS. They intend to hurt Muslims using all possible means. And others are helping them to do so.

Any rational human being can easily understand the planned trickery behind arranging an event like DRAW MUHAMMAD DAY and extreme hatred of Muslims for such an event. Of course this is an attempt to show that Muslims are extremists. If you attack somebody and he attacks you in self defense then how can you call such self defense as terrorism or extremism?

As far as the question is concerned that “Do you think this is similar to Facebook’s Holocaust denial groups?". My answer is YES, even this is worst. In my opinion one should consider the number of human beings who will suffer because of anything (like making any group, or drawing etc.). More than 1 billion human beings will get hurt because of DRAW MUHAMMAD DAY as compared to HOLOCAUST DENIAL.

You do not respect your prophet, and feel proud by insulting Him, But Sir, we do respect out beloved Prophet and we cannot see him insulted by anyone.

  21. Do we stop eating ham in a restaurant because a Jew might be offended? Do we shut down the burger places because someone Hindu might be upset? No, we don't. Why? Because the people who eat ham and eat hamburgers aren't members of those religions, and they don't have to follow their rules. The same with drawing a picture of Mohammed. If the invisible friend of the Muslims doesn't want me to draw Mohammed and will punish me, that's between the two of us. You don't like it, don't look. This isn't Clockwork Orange. If you're offended, that's your insecurity, not mine. I don't even want to hear you complaining about people going out their way to offend you when I can't marry my partner or even hold his hand in some places for fear of physical violence. Heavens no, we can't offend you. You want to worship, fine. Just keep it in your church/mosque/temple/basement/whatever and don't inflict it on me.

And no, this group is not the same as the Holocaust deniers group. The Holocaust was an atrocity of epic proportion. It was enabled by fear and hate. Drawing Mohammed? Eh, people are gonna get cranky. Let them take a nap and get over it.

  24. For all those who consider Muslims' such aggressive reaction as abnormal, Don't you think this shows the basic difference b/w all the other religions and ISLAM. We muslims do believe that all Prophets were right and we respect them all, but at present the only religion applicable to all human beings is ISLAM. We believe in all the Holy Books, All were sent by the same Almighty including Quran which is the latest version of all. So who is modern ? You are trying to stick to the older versions my friends, which are not even available in their true form. Our love to MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him)more than our lives and anything else in this world doesn't depict that there is something in this BEAUTIFUL RELIGION? Try to read and understand Quran and may Almighty put us all on the right way and prevent us from all kind of disputes.

  25. According to the dictionary of "Oxford University Press"- "Oxford guide to British and American culture", Freedom of speech is :"The right to express any opinions in public. This right became part of American law under the "First Amendment".If the opinions expressed are false or damage a person's reputation, however that person can take legal action under US law.In Britain people are free to express most opinions, but it is against the law to express some ideas,e.g ideas that aim to cause RACIAL hatred."

Pakistan took a very good step by bannin g fcaebook! curse on All those who tried to draw images and supported that competition. they not only playing with the feelings of muslims but are also breaking the rules. they need to learn that what freedom of speech is according to their own laws

  26. Lloyd, my comment was on ridiculing Muslim beliefs not on the Pakistan Facebook ban – which many Pakistani netizens are protesting. To you it may be a few cartoons drawn on Muhammed – but for many – it is hurting their sentiments. And they have a right to protest that – as long as they do it in civic ways. I appreciate your stands on freedom of speech, and I believe you have the right to defend that in your own space. But that does not mean you have the right to impose colonial mentality over a population of some native country (Facebook is not limited to any country) and stop them from protesting. Respecting others' space and rights is also considered as respecting freedom of speech.

  27. I wonder… why was this event planned? What is this group's purpose? Why draw Mohammed? It seems to me that there is only one reason to draw a prophet that would insult Muslims… and that would be to insult Muslims! If that is this group's purpose, then this has nothing to do with excersising "Free Speech." They are hiding behind "Free Speech" with the intent to cause emotional harm to all Muslims.

    Comment by Bren Creegan — May 19, 2010 @ 6:00 pm

  28. Hi,

@Bren yes i also don't understand why they wana show the freedom of speech by drawing Muhammad?

I saw some of muslims made an event on Facebook named "Draw Holocaust" as a freedom of speech and that group got deleted 10 times, why not the same happened with the event of "Draw Muhammad"? who is in the administration of Facebook? more over I went to attend the event to see what's going on, and what I have seen the Creator of that group called "Draw Muhammad Day " is a Jew girl from Tel-Aviv University, then I tried to find any post from that girl on that event, but no use I could not find any post from her. what I want to say here that the creator of that event just wanted let the people fight while they are hiding their ass. And about Americans I don't wana say anything because they are so innocent they don't know what is right and what is wrong.

They always plays in the hands of the evil powers.

if liberty harms and disrespects other cultures then it is to be vehemently opposed.
this is why that ‘draw Muhammad’ page is utterly Disgusting.
It being endorsed by a social media aka facebook only highlights the delusional world of ‘liberty’ and ‘freedom’ that the West lives in.

  32. This is so stupid im a Pakistani and i don't care about this group, and neither should any other Muslims, such pages and groups don't need to get so much importance, every other religion and race is discriminated not just the muslims, there r so may muslims that are a part of other blasphemous groups against other religions so if you are entitled to your opinion why aren't other people? pakistan will never prosper if we keep acting up and getting upset over such stupid sites and pages.

I mean get over even if that facebook page is removed there will still be all this other anti muhammad and anti islamic stuff all over the internet is pakistan going to ban the inter internet. These same images are on google images as well lest's block google images as well then, lets just eliminate the internet all together in Pakistan why don't we, who cares what other people think and do, just like muslims think they have the right to hate jews and other races/religions most of the world thinks they have the right to hate muslims get over it.

Other people and countries are entitled to their freedom of speech, and banning such pages is not going to stop them from having an opinion.I think its very hypocritical of Pakistanis to ban international sites and groups and yet have their own sites and groups against those countries and still want to visit those countries and live there work there study there and exercise their freedom of speech and life style by partying and clubbing and drinking and living it up there where as they don't have those liberties in their own country. In that case stay in your own country and be oppressed. Pakistanis cannot choose freedom of speech or any kind of freedom only when it suits their convenience, it doesn't work that way.

  33. you idiots. its not about freedom of speech. don’t get so fucking hormotional and try to use the ‘freedom’ card because its wrong. Certain material is sensitive for everyone. If i made a forum about your mothers virginity would you still try and play the ‘freedom of speech’ card? that’s right. you wouldn’t. Theres a fine line between freedom of speech and being utterly disrespectful in a completely pointless manner. there are diplomatic ways to go about things, and religion is a historically controversial topic, take a history lesson please.
it’s simply common knowledge that personal perspective on religion should be kept PERSONAL, and to go to the extent of blatantly mocking one is too far. The ignorant noob even claimed he would ‘hope this reaches international forums” so its clear his intentions were wrong in every way.

    Comment by lenard — May 19, 2010 @ 9:00 pm

  34. Killing people over drawings of a person that no one has a photo of seems beyond ridiculous. Like most religious books, there isn’t even solid proof that it was written by Mohammad, as the word of God. So, no, this isn’t the same as Holocaust Denier groups, which deny something that there is plenty of proof of.

Pakistani censorship is religiously motivated because they are a theocracy, despite what they might otherwise claim. However, that is that government’s choice and does not affect Facebook, a privately owned US based company, in any way.

So, let’s not make such a huge deal out of it and carry on with our personal choices.

America might be the result of many nations but they have built a prosperous nation for them selves and allow other nationals from other countries to come their work and study, giving them an opportunity for a better life and what do we muslims do there blow up stuff in the name of islam. And you think pakistanis have shame they kill their own people the government embezzles the countries money and pockets it more than half our population doesn't even pay tax, if that's called having shame your definition of that word is negatively skewed.

  36. Keeping religion aside, it's just a demonstration of extreme respect for someone who is THE MOST important personality (pbuh) to Muslims. If someone (God forbid) tries to make fun of that personality just in retaliation to a violent group (whom even the Muslims don't own) with the sole intention of teaching billions of Muslims a LESSON, sorry, we have every right to register our protest in light of the teachings of our peaceful religion which asks us to Command Good and Forbid Evil and the order for forbidding evil is first through hand then with words and lastly with heart and that is the weakest faith! Allow us to practice this principle as it provides us a source n indication of our moral and spiritual health! Ignoring it and not reacting in the face of wrong means that we are spiritually and morally dead!

There is no second opinion about the evil nature of that FB page owner as he has specifically mentioned his malign intentions. Nobody is going violent against that guy but doesn't your 'Freedom' give Muslims a right to peacefully protest against or boycott the perpetrators??? Isn't this too a defiance to Muslims a 'Freedom' to react and condemn those who just want to emotionally humiliate a billion Muslims??

Can we wish and pray that everyone in this global society starts acting reasonable respecting others' sentiments, keeping their insensitivities aside??

Why everybody is dying to draw pictures of Muhammad (S.A.W.W.)? Just because they want to attack & hurt Muslims even after knowing that this is unacceptable to us. WHY? So if hurting someone is OK with you then why not killing somebody? Sometimes emotional pain & hurting is worst than killing somebody. If I abuse your mother in front of you, will you accept that without showing any reaction? And will you take it as FUN?

You people talk about HUMAN RIGHTS and don't know anything about these rights. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that I can do whatever I want to do. 55. well Im a totally liberal muslim and until today I thought I was addicted to facebook zynga and playfish games for last three years…. but suddenly I realized I was wrong…. for the sanctity of my religion this is a pygmy sacrifice…. anyway what I want to say that artists all around the world should know what figure sketching means in Islam.. its simply prohibited… and just relating the fact that islam discourages figure sketching to drawing a picture of Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) amplifies the gravity of this situation…. being a very liberal muslim Im feeling bad at what is happening so if actions like these are carried on, I can foresee the aggression aggravating in young minds which will lead to no good in future…… my message is simple… If you dont respect others, dont expect anything better in return

P.S: I saw that ban coming a few days back when around 40,000 users reported that page and facebook didnt take any action on it… so if you think poor facebook became victim in "the clash of titans" thats thats not the ultimate truth

Yes, the fact that Pakistani Muslims had the world's 2nd most popular website completely shut down over cartoon drawings reinforces your sentiments of indifference.

"but that doesn’t mean you are allowed to do what you want to do."

Actually, we can. We can choose to respect Islam, or we can poke fun at your culture and the iron fist under which citizens live in countries such as Iran and Pakistan. It's as if none of you have any understanding whatsoever of the notion of freedom of speech. While speech to incite violence is illegal, that doesn't cover instances like this, where any violence committed would be by those seeking to suppress the speech.

  64. In the Name of God, the Munificent, the most Merciful

"They (the disbelievers) desire to extinguish the light of God with their mouths, but God will complete his light, though the disbelievers dislike it." The Qur'an

The life of a true Muslim is based on sincerity, peace humility, justice, morality and the truth. It is expected from the enemies of Islam, as it has been since the dawn of man's submission to God, that they attempt to foment unrest in society by trying to debase the believers and their beliefs.

The Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him)holds a special place in the hearts of more than two billion Muslims today. He prohibited Muslims from mocking other religions; those who disregard this ordinance disregard God who in the Quran orders mankind to "obey God and the messenger (of God)".

As with hundreds of millions of Muslims, it is my duty as a Muslim to defend the very same man who was tortured by disbelievers, forced to starve and eat twigs for days on end, all for the concern for the guidance of humanity, his efforts being the exact reason why I have become a sincere Muslim.

Muslims adhere to a unique system of life: Islam is not only a religion but an unaltered code of life. Hence, I pray exactly as the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) prayed, I eat as he ate, I bath as he bathed… in fact, every action has been recorded by his companions and their companions in recognized books so that the lives of Muslims are governed by his life. He was the ultimate servant of God. Indeed insulting him in no way belittles his status.

On the contrary, it proves one's disregard for one's own humanity, for as humans, we are social beings. Our legal systems and governments, no matter what they be, are based on ethics. This is what defines the harmonious nature and stability of a society that will make its existence worthwhile.

It is disturbing to discover the terrible truth of the attempts of people to justify the prejudices of society. This, though malicious and bitter, is nothing new. It has merely reappeared in another form. Leaders like Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Omar Mukhtar, Mahatma Ghandi, Imam Khomeini and many more fought similar oppressive actions and injustices. It must be known that the oppressors truly believed that they were correct in mistreating or disparaging others. Yet history has judged their actions to be perverted. Morality is what should govern social relations. Tolerance and respect for the right to believe will inevitably triumph. These great freedom fighters could not merely 'get over' the oppression. they could not possibly do nothing. Instead they spent their lives to seek the liberation of their people.

It is my duty as a Muslim to do the same: to abandon frivolity and challenge the 'malignant hearts' of sinister people who have advocated this oppressive stance against the man all Muslims love more than their own parents . Muslims will never 'get over' tyranny. Yes, instigating unrest in our beautiful world is tyranny.

Enemies of Islam: Remember that truth will always prevail because it is the nature of falsehood to perish.

NB: Written in South Africa, the land of freedom, where Muslims, such as Ahmed Kathrada,Don Mattera, Fatima Meer, Naledi Pandor and others fought alongside Nelson Mandela against the racist system of apartheid, the system supported by Israel and other oppressive regimes.

  65. well…. freedom of speech by drawing a prophet..that sounds interesting! wt do u gain by drawing? self satisfaction?? or what exactly?

we muslims believe on all prophets that have decended on this planet u might not mind if some1 starts drawing jesus but we would, coz he too was a prophet, u already dont mind as u have made statues of him n worship him when he actully is a prophet created by God… u worship jesus because he is the son of God is it so? ya right that is why the SON of God got killed and GOD didnt bother saving him?? do u even believe this crap? Jesus was only a prophet who was sent on this planet to spread peace, and he was taken by God, not coz he was His SON but coz its one of Gods miracles, and he will be sent soon on this planet, its mentioned in the Quran, you might think its a crap what im saying but i suppose scientists(western scientists) have declared that soon the sun will start rising from the west in Mars or smthn? and soon it will be the same on earth, like the sun will rise from the west….this is already mentioned in a book (Quran) by a man(Prophet Muhammed) more than 1400 years ago…

we believe on whatever this man said as he was a messenger to deliver the words of GOD in a book ….

i dont blame anyone for their misbehavior, coz media have'nt delivered the right image of islam…if u plan to know islam in its true soul try to discover it not go behind what you see or hear…cz a criminal is innocent until proven guilt!

some muslims have been mislead i totally agree on it they too havent understood what actully ISLAM is.. islam in arabic means PEACE….n they havent made any peace…

  80. OH my GOD you guys are crazy!

no wonder all the Americans think we're crackpots! You guys behave like crazy killer psychopaths.

    Hello?! Look at yourselves?!

DON'T FORGET that our religion preaches PATIENCE AND TOLERANCE:

Years before that when he had just started preaching the call of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad went to Ta’if.

However, the people of Ta’if scorned his message of worshipping Allah alone, and hurled stones, garbage and insults at him as he sadly left the city.

In the face of continued disappointment, the Archangel Jibreel came to Muhammad and said, “If you wish, I will crush the town of Taif between the surrounding mountains.”

Bleeding from head to toe, battered and exhausted, the Prophet was faced with a choice. Should he or should he not seek to destroy the people who had just humiliated him by having their children chase him out of town while throwing stones at him? And for what crime? All he wanted to do was convey the message of the One God to His creation and seek to benefit for his own people.

Yet, though they hurt him, Muhammad looked beyond his own wounds and forgave them.

He chose forgiveness and mercy. Instead of cursing the people of this town, he prayed for their salvation. Would we have done the same even in lesser circumstances?

That is just one of so many examples of how this man, whom Allah describes as a "mercy to the universe" dealt with those who opposed him.

ALL OF YOU. ALL OF YOU who are defending the prophet right now by fighting and using abusive language, should be slapped!

Our prophet taught us to NOT TO DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS.

    Idiots!

As for those who believe that drawing cartoons is FREEDOM OF SPEECH? Freedom of speech my FOOT. Its like that quote from Cold Mountain:

"They call this war a cloud over the land, but they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say, "Shit! Its rainin'!"

Nothing comes without its consequences. We weren't going to sit around and watch you make fun of the one thing that is most sacred to us. Don't be outraged if one of our crackpots gets up and blows himself up in the middle of one of your square's.

This is both of our faults.

  85. In the Name of God, the Munificent, the most Merciful

    To Larry

I praise God for awarding the world with such inquiring minds epitomized by you. You posed intriguing issues in your response, the answers of which will be discovered through a sincere, unrelenting quest for truth on your part. Nevertheless, I will attempt to respond to these grounding issues to the best of my ability.

I must reinforce what I have said earlier (before the blog from which you quoted): Islam is a system of life, public, political and personal, which is based on peace (Islam is derived from the Arabic word for peace salam). Islam is so complete that it has even stipulated a moral code for military engagement with the enemies of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) forbade the killing of women and children during war. ( Bukhari volume iv: Book of Jihad: Hadith 258).Tolerance is not about accepting dissent, but rather about forbearing it. This is what more than two billion Muslims are doing right now, after our most beloved leader and the infallible servant most beloved to God himself is being insulted by rebellious people mentioned in the Quran. However, some Muslims do not display restraint and transgress the limitations of armed struggle stipulated by the sublime example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The killing of innocent women and children on 9/11 is without doubt against the ordinances of Islam.

The murder of non-combatants is a crime according to sharia. In addition, the insult to prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) is also a display of intolerance which undermines global peace and harmony.

You also quoted the issue of the alleged crucifixion of Prophet Jesus (may peace be upon him) from one of the comments by a Muslim.

God states in the unaltered Quran:

"And (consider) their boasting: 'We Killed Messiah Jesus, the son of Mary, the apostle of God, but they killed him not, nor crucified him….And those who differ herein are full of doubts with no certainty of knowledge, but only conjecture to follow. For a surety they killed him not" (4:157)

Muslims believe that Prophet Jesus (may peace be upon him and may God hasten his reappearance) was not killed nor was he a son of God, but rather one of the greatest prophets of God and a human who ascended to heaven whilst his enemies searched for him.

The bible also conforms to this at times and then contradicts itself as the existing version was written by a multitude of men and then edited by more men through the years whereas the Quran, memorized by millions of Muslims, is literally the exact word of God addressed to mankind.

We believe that God is one and no individual, not even one of the Prophets (may peace be upon them), shares a single of his divine attributes. I will reinforce the contradictions in the bible with a quotation from Mark 12:32:

" And the scribe said unto him, 'Well Master, thou has said the truth: for there is one God and there is none other than He."

The various authors of the bible then proceed to say that Jesus is 'Lord' or the 'son of God' or 'God'. These contradictions deem the bible unreliable. ( for more information research about Ahmed Deedat and his comparative religion)

The above critical analyses display a civil way of religious dialog.

The comments you quoted criticizing Christianity does not conform with Islamic principles as Muslims are prohibited from mocking other religions or jesting about them. This was taught by the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him).

I looked at one cartoon that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad (may peace be upon him) having sex with a pig. I shed tears. How can the enemies of Islam conjure such vile, crude images? The only explanation is the extreme fear of Islam or Islamophobia. The Zionist who began this campaign aimed at inciting religious tensions fears the only threat to the existence of the Zionist-apartheid state: Islam. Islam is the fastest growing religion on earth. This is not because of high population growth, but due to the spiraling number of converts to Islam. Volumes of contemporary books have been written on the scientific miracles of the Glorious Quran. Fear is what has fueled their hatred. Let them know that their efforts are in vain.

I am a young Muslim, like millions of others, and i intend to spend my life to spread Islam. Millions of muslims have vented their disapproval of this garrulous insult to a third( two billion) of all humans today.

God is Great! God is Great! God is Great!

I invite you to research sincerely about Islam. Discover the truth. Do not be a blind follower!

"Indeed in the heavens and the earth, and the alternation between night and day are signs for men of understanding."

    The Quran

so if we have a photo of the prophet pbuh, then we will unconcsiously pray to him rather than God— other than being disrespectful.

btw we dont pray to kaaba, we only direct towards it

respecting and loving all the prophets, the 4 holy books and the people as a whole is a fundamental cornerstone of islam– this is not backward thinking

in the bible , ''son of god'' is used for above 80 prophets other than messiah [the one being rubbed — christ in english

in the original texts of bible — the name of muhammed is present [ahmed is a synonym for muhammed , which was translated as ''alltogether lovely ''

Guys please realize that Muhammad(PBUH) was a prophet and all the prophets of God are sacred and respectable for all world. they were pious people and were better and superior than the common people. so we should respect every religion. what if facebook invites to draw Jesus or the Christ some day? that will not be a fun by any way. would the Jews or the Christians like to draw cartoons of these prophets? though the Muslims will never draw them because it is the condition in Islam to respect all prophets and the sacred heavenly books.

  103. @Murtaza Ali

How about you send me a pic of your mother and we make cartoons of her having sex with pig. I upload it on facebook make a group of it, and you just chill and live in peace like you are suggesting to everyone here.

Same question asked from every one who supports this group….

  106. Since coming to power (probably couple of years), this is the only act from Pakistan Govt. which I feel proud of.

Facebook may be US privately owned company, but Pakistan Govt. have absolute right to block any site which is not in accordance to Laws of Pakistan. As a nation we usually dont follow our laws but there are few things about our religion where we make any concessions.

Non-muslims have lots of things to do in their lives to keep them busy rather than trying to express their freedom by violating other religion's respect/limit.

It is very obvious that Non-muslims respect each others Ideas e.g. I never heard Christian making fun of Holacaust or Jew telling Hindu that you got a rat god…. they have only seem to gang-up against islam all together.

Anyway … this stupid page which they created is not worth looking at all but definitely worth opposing and probably further….
