No Debate: NBC News/Facebook Effort A Success

Sunday’s NBC News/Facebook Republican presidential debate resulted in more than 45,000 comments on the social network, and over 4,500 questions were submitted, according to a note on the U.S. Politics on Facebook page.

The event, from the Chubb Theater in Concord, N.H., was moderated by “Meet the Press host David Gregory, and it aired on NBC as a special edition of the news show, along with being live-streamed on Facebook and NBCPolitics.com. MSNBC also aired the debate nationally, and New England Cable News did so regionally.

Facebook-submitted questions were answered during the debate by Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Newt Gingrich.

More debate stats from U.S. Politics on Facebook:

  • The live stream at 9 a.m. Eastern Time Sunday was accessed by more than 124,000 users.
  • More than 210,000 on-demand streams of the debate were viewed Sunday, and that total topped 860,000 through Thursday.
  • The “Meet the Press” Facebook page was viewed more than 130,000 times Sunday.
  • As for television, more than four million viewers watched the debate on Meet the Press; 1.38 million on MSNBC (live and rebroadcasts combined); 390,000 on the NBC rebroadcast; and 17,200 live on NECN.

  2. NBC i don't have to worry about the debates getting any lamer than that one tonight.that sucking sound was you. looked like a SNL skit and not a good one.the american people have no president,no constitution,no voice,no jobs and on and on and WE HAVE NO MEDIA whatsoever.get a clue
