NBA.com Partners With Facebook for All Star Coverage

-NBA Logo-Just like we saw with CNN.com for the inauguration coverage and with Israeli news station Nana10 for the Israeli election, Facebook will be partnering with NBA.com for live feed updates on the NBA All-Star game. This is the third implementation that we’ve seen of this live-streaming Connect Feed widget that Facebook has developed. Facebook appears to be utilizing this service on a case-by-case basis.

This is also the first time that we’ve seen live embedded Facebook feeds not related to a political event. It’s clear that Facebook is heavily pushing this new live streaming widget. What would be even better is if Facebook had this live streaming feed non-stop via one of the online video streaming services, such as Hulu.com, who was reportedly a launch partner with Facebook Connect despite not launching the service yet.

As I previously mentioned, there’s a good chance that we will see a lot more implementations of Facebook Connect in the near future. I’m not quite sure what distinction Facebook has made between their traditional Facebook Connect implementation versus the live news feed implementation. We also don’t know if Facebook is charging media companies for implementing this service or if they are simply offering it in exchange for free promotion.

Whatever the case is, it’s clearly attracting a lot of attention to Facebook as they are the only social network to offer this level of integration with any media company. Check out the promotional video below for the upcoming All Start game.
