This morning while browsing through the Facebook application directory, I stumbled upon a pretty interesting application called “Mars 2025.” The application is a sort of role playing game similar to the immensely popular Warbook application. When you launch the application it provides you with a thorough tutorial about how to play the game. The main purpose of the game is to create your own country on Mars.
Dmitry M. Kentsis and Andrew V. Zakharov who developed the game, focused heavily of building a solid user interface. There is a pretty cool roll-over navigation menu that enables you to browse among the main sections of the game. You can do everything from choosing your country’s government type to managing the bank, military, foreign relations, research and more. It reminds me somewhat of the PC game, Civilization. Additionally, you can form alliances, declare war and try to build your own empire.
The developers put a lot of thought into this application and I think there is a serious chance of them taking a segment of the Warbook’s user base. If you are into role playing games, then go grab the Mars 2025 application.

I wasn't able to play it because I immediately got a server error, but I'm curious to know if it's in the same vein as a similarly-named game of several years old, called Earth 2025 (http://games.swirve.com/earth/)

I also got a big fat server error.
Hooray.

First, thanks for kind words. We're doing our best
And second, about errors – it was an facebook API issue (regarding authorization), now it should work fine.
What can be spoken about similarity – yep, we are similar but far not exact. I will post here some links for those who wanna get more info about it:

Yeah Mars is MUCH better run than earth. Earth has alot of cheating and the owner is not very active. Also its not international and no changes have been made in many years. Mars gets constantly updated and they listen to their community. When i found mars, i played both for a while, but now i see no reason to play earth. So im mars 100%. Its like night and day.

Guys, this game already exists outside facebook. They just ported it in. I have to say, im kinda sick of all these "warbook killer" posts. mars2025 is a great game, but even after the buzz its 100 daily visitors. stop hating on warbook, it rules.

Warbook is a good game in it's own regard, so is Mars2025. It is important to understand that the creaters of Mars, just like the creators of Warbook want thier game to expland in player membership. Both games are good, isn't there enought room in facebook for more games? More social interaction?

This is far better than Warbook.
Warbook made no sense, the rules/mechanics change and screw up all the damn time. One minute you can't do something, but someone else can. Nonsense.
Mars 2025 rocks.

Mars Rocks. I personally love teaming up with the russian speaking players and there is actually nothing second to this combo.
