Last year, more Facebook users changed their status to single than in a relationship — 24 percent versus 31 percent.
That juicy tidbit counts among many that lie in this infographic on how Facebook affects our relationships, rendered by our friends at Online Dating University.
Only three out of every five users show their relationship statuses at all, and such listings appear more frequently among Facebookers in the U.S., South Africa, Iceland, the U.K. and Canada.
Let us know in the comments section what you think about these statistics and the other facts appearing in the infographic below.

Great job do did. It' surprising how facebook can also affect people negatively!
WIll you also monitor FB members individually in the future?

Spending too much time on facebook makes us lose attention on other social aspects of our life, from dating to parenting.

I totally agree! It's like people are forgetting how to communicate with friends and family outside of facebook.

Using facebook to be helpful, it is very good. For people used to do business, it is very good.

Just like anything, too much Facebook is bad. But when used the right way can be a valuable tool. People who's relationship suffers because they use Facebook, tend to "overuse" other things as well and as a result are going to have this problem with relationships.cellphones, TV, nightclubs, work. Anything can be abused. Practicing some restraint, as well as taking responsibility for our actions is the adult thing to do. Lol

Social networks can definitely take away from relationships. From a business perspective though, it is an invaluable tool because you get access to your prospects and clients who are spending more than hour a day!

By sharing personal information and medias to others, you let them spy on you, as you can spy your girlfriend or boyfriend's account and let useless fear appear in your mind. That obviously destroy relationship by letting you know things that you don't have to, or that you're bad interpreting…

Great to see someone talking about it!
I personally use facebook to keep in touch with friends from abroad, and as my own personal radio station. I leave the relationship status blank at all times, no matter what status I'm actually in. It's my business therefore it is my choice to personally tell whoever I want. Also, I think the whole hype around it is so unnecessary. If a person changes their status from "in a relationship" to "it's complicated" or "single" then that person will get a lot of attention they probably don't want. People jump on these opportunities and will ask you what happened, even though you haven't really talked to them for a year, as it is just gossip for them.
I'm not saying you should keep it a secret, I do believe love should be celebrated!
So basically.. keep is SIMPLE, keep it safe

I use my facebook profile for my own reasons with my photography, artwork and my self-talents. I notice that some people make awful, judgmental comments to one another, especially females with many individual people changing their relationship status often.
