Facebook Provides Developers With URL Linter

URL Linter IconDo your HTML pages have too much lint in them? Do you even know what on earth that means? Whether or not you are familiar with the term “Linter”, Facebook is now providing a tool for developers to debug URLs so that they are consistent with Facebook’s new Open Graph protocol. The Linter ensures that you have no syntax errors, and that when users share your Pages, you’ll ensure that the correct information shows up.

Ensuring that your website has the correct metadata on each page is important for ensuring that Like buttons function properly. It’s a pretty basic tool but I’m sure many developers will find it to be extremely useful as they go about implementing the Open Graph protocol across their websites. The tool, which was first announced last Friday, is pretty straight-forward.

If you are looking to implement the Open Graph protocol on your own site, be sure to reference the URL Linter tool.

  1. Linter, wow, it's been a long time since lint was a tool to help straighten out your 'C' syntax.
