Facebook Profiles Are Public?

According to Fred Stuzman, “Facebook began exposing profiles to be indexed by Google.” While not completely public they are now accessible to Google. While they should probably have posted something about this in order to not shock the users when their profile starts showing up in Google, is it really that surprising? Ultimately Facebook is going to become the start page for many of its users. You will be able to view the latest news and potentially your bank account information directly from your Facebook page. While you will need to be logged in, in order to view your start page, it is a beginning of a new era for Facebook. The main difference here is that your Facebook page is not intended to be messed up aesthetically, nor is it intended to have all of the junk that is shown on MySpace profiles.
