Facebook Bug Prevents Users From Commenting And Liking

This morning we began receiving reports that Facebook Pages had a major flaw that was preventing users from commenting an liking stories. Some Page administrators were even unable to access the page content. While we’d assume that Facebook is actively working on a fix for the issue, it’s preventing a fair amount of Facebook Page functionality.

The bug appears to be limited to specific users. Additionally we’ve heard that the bug is happening within comments. For example, a user cannot “like” an actual comment on a feed story. It’s a small bug but it’s making it difficult for numerous people to communicate on the site. Facebook tends to resolve these problems relatively quickly. It also appears that this bug is only affective new posts, not previous posts.

We’re not quite sure why this is happening, or how many people are affected by the bug, but it’s pretty clear that it’s causing problems with many Facebook users. We’ll be sure to update the post if we hear anything else from Facebook. Have you seen this bug as well?

Thanks to Mari Smith for sharing this bug with us!

  4. I have been having some problem with not being able to comment on some peoples posts.

But what I find more irritating yet, is the notifications are always there, or you keep getting the same old ones even an hour after the first one is sent, they repeat themselves.

Have been getting white pages when I refresh. Facebook is in the sorriest state of repair I have seen it be in for quite some time.

I think you should work on existing issues before worrying about rolling out new ideas.

    Thank you very much,

    George Baker

  5. I saw this today and figured it was a matter of an individual's privacy settings. I know you can make it so people can't like or comment on your posts.

  7. The Libertarian Party's fanpage is currently experiencing this problem. It's quite the inconvenience.

  8. Yes, we definitely get that. I have 4 FB pages. 2 of the biggest ones have this problem, the others do not. Seems to affect all (or almost all?) other admins we have for these pages.

  9. Same thing on my page for about the last 24 hours. Can't "comment" or "like" any posts left on my page. The only option is "flag". Sure hope they figure this one out soon!

  10. When trying to log on facebook, I keep getting a screen that wants me to add a mobile phone number so they can verify my identity. I don't have a mobile phone. I've been trying to get through to customer service, but it is non-existent. I googled the problem, and many other people have had the same problem, and it's been over a month and still hasn't been resolved. How can they boast of so many people when a lot of them are basicly being held hostage because they are signed up but can't even get in to change or discontinue their membership.

  11. The bug happened on pages AND groups. It was not a bug preventing people from commenting or liking, new posts to pages or groups did not have a like or comment button. Even though this issue has been resolved, posts made while this this error was occurring still lack a like or comment button.

  12. The bug is now fixed for new posts, but not for posts that happened during the breakage.

  13. Yes, this was horrible, but its fixed now, however, there seems to be another issue…Month old posts return if you click 'view older posts' ugh..

  18. ya we have noticed this on one of our pages. Do you know how to get rid of the bug..? Is there a process one should follow.

What is even more of a prioirty for us at the moment is that we have lost one of our fan pages…the whole page has disapeared. We have tried to contact facebook and no luck…any suggestions on what to do if a page has been disabled?

    Many Thanks
