This morning Facebook officially announced Facebook Live, a new service that provides deeper insight into what’s taking place behind the company. While Facebook has already used the service for a number of things, including the recent Facebook technology talk, the service is being announced today by America Ferrera, the actress in the new movie “The Dry Land”. The service is simply a way for users of Facebook to interact with Facebook employees and guests in real-time.
According to Facebook, the service will be used mostly for the following occasions:
- When special guests stop by Facebook, you can interact with them and experience the excitement
- Facebook introduces a new feature and you can learn about it directly from the Facebook employees who created it and ask them questions
- Special events at Facebook can be viewed live worldwide
If for some reason you want to have live streaming content from Facebook on your own Facebook Page, the company is providing a tool for embedding the application within Page tabs. If you are interested in viewing Facebook Live you can go do so here.
