Facebook Movie Will Feature Mark Zuckerberg Getting Dumped

zuckerberglogoAccording to a recent interview with Rooney Mara, one of the stars of the upcoming “The Social Network’ movie based on the history of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg really got started on Facebook after getting dumped.  The movie is being written by Aaron Sorkin and financed by David Fincher and is well-financed, highlighting stars Justin Timberlake, Rashida Jones (of The Office and Parks and Recreation) and Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland).  Mara gave away a few interesting tidbits about the movie in her interview.

Rooney explains that the movie may be more than it seems: “It’s about Facebook, but it’s not really about Facebook.  But it’s about Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook.”  The movie talks about Zuckerberg’s creation of Facebook in 2004, from his dorm room in Harvard.  It tells the story of the rise of his business, his personal fortune and his ideals.  Rooney, who seems to analyze the movie at a surface level, and simply describes how he got “sued by everyone and anyone.”  She goes on to say:

“It actually is a really good message story,” Mara said of the flick, which stars Eisenberg as Zuckerberg. “At the end of it, he has more money than anyone. He created basically the biggest social network ever, and yet he has no friends and no one [to love]. So at the end, it’s kind of sad. He’s kind of alone.”

Also interesting to note is that David Fincher is well known as the director of Fight Club, one of the most important movies released in the last 15 years.  The fact that he’s taking on a movie about Facebook, and that early analysis of the script and actors state that it’s a highly emotional story may mean that we can expect some twists and turns from this one.  He may choose to weave a cautionary tale into this film, or a subtle message about the nature of relationships and social interactions.  I’m personally waiting for the first reviews to determine how this thing panned out.

  2. Neil – single space after a period! Only once space is needed between sentences when typing on a computer. The old double space rule only applied to manual typewriters.
