Want to instantly add Facebook’s Like button to your WordPress blog? No need to worry about dealing with Facebook’s upgraded JavaScript SDK or anything else. You can simply install the new WordPress Like plugin and get up and running in only a couple of clicks. The new plugin works with both XFBML and as an iFrame. While there are some challenges of using Like button’s with the old Facebook Connect library, this new plugin should make implementing the Like button easy for WordPress site administrators.
Pierre Chambon, the developer of the WordPress Like plugin, has told us that the add on has seen significant traction over the weekend as it has been translated into 5 languages and will be translated into an additional 3 in the near future. There’s also an interesting option to create separate Facebook Pages for each of your articles, although this is something that Facebook has advised against.
Instead, Facebook prefers that Open Graph objects (which are subsequently turned into Facebook Pages) be a reflection of “real-life things”. As they state within their Open Graph documentation, “users don’t want news articles and other transient content as objects on their profile”. Despite not wanting this, there is clearly an incentive for developers to essentially spam the Open Graph system, something that I’m sure Facebook will create further restrictions around.
While best practices are still being developed for the Facebook Open Graph API, owners of WordPress blogs can now easily implement Facebook’s like button, with this simple plugin. Go download the Facebook Like plugin now and let us know what you think!
Also, if you’re interested in learning about developing for the social web, come check out Social Developer Summit this June in San Francisco!

Are all the people implementing this plug-in conscious about the fact that they give access to Facebook to user name in cleartext for each page impression made by a Facebook member without having themselves access to this same information?

I just installed it and tried it out, but I can't figure out how the likes would be attached to the Facebook page I've already set up for my site. Am I missing something?

I tried this plugin last week and found it really slowed down my page loads. So much so, that I un-installed the plugin and used this one instead: http://martinj.net/wordpress-plugins/facebook-lik...

You can also install our 'Like-Button-Plugin-For-Wordpress'-Plugin which easily enables the Like-Button for your WordPress-Blog. It also adds a new Like-Button-Widget.
Everything with just a few clicks!
You can find our plugin here:

We would appreciate this!

Just installed and tested it out. Loved it for about a minute. Then I found out that it automatically creates a new Facebook Like Page for each and every individual post you ever have somebody click Like on. And you're the admin of each. So if you have people click Like on 20 different blog posts, you'll now be the administrator of 20 different and totally separate Facebook pages instead of 20 people being fans of your blog in general. What a pointless pain in the butt. If I have hundreds of blog posts each year do I really have any use to administer hundreds of separate Facebook Like pages? That's just stupid.
So I just uninstalled and went back to the easy as pie solution I already had… I just use the "Custom Post Text" plugin to add text/html after every post and then I just add the custom code that is easily generated in seconds at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plu...

@Facebook User
You see these Facebook pages only because you are the admin (owner) of those pages.
Anybody else who finds those "ghost" pages on Facebook will be redirected directly to your page.
This ghost page allows you to see all the fans of your original page, see statistics and send them updates by writing on the wall of this ghost page.
It's a powerful too and it's transparent to the end user.
This is explained here:

@Facebook-User:
we have added a little checkbox: dynamic links. You could choose it by your own if you like to have individual like-buttons on every post/page or not. if you check it then you'll have different buttons on every page/post. if not you have just one button for the whole blog.
But we recommend to have different buttons because that is the advantage of this button. that you can like what you read and not only the whole blog! do you understand?
@bottomless: thx for explaining it.

I understood everything the whole time, but understanding how it works still didn't make it a good idea. It was pretty obvious that when I clicked the Admin link that these were pages only I could see. I just couldn't see why anybody would actually want the disadvantage of dividing all their fans into smaller/less impressive numbers, or managing all those separate pages individually.
HOWEVER, that's great if you've now added a checkbox to give the WordPress owner the choice either to Like individual posts/pages or to Like the entire blog in general. Large blogs with tons of daily traffic may like the individual posts thing but smaller bloggers (the majority of users) would get much more benefit from combining their Likes.

I cant find the "little checkbox"… ? Am I missing something.
Comment by keith — May 12, 2010 @ 1:23 pm
I can’t see the checkbox either – I’d much rather it only add fans to a single page, rather than add endless pages whenever somebody clicks ‘Like’.

Hi. I've had this plugin installed for a while, and it's been working great.
Today however, it suddenly stopped working. This isn't the common red error message that people get.
the problem is this: you simply cant click the button. check it out over here: http://belowthelion.co.za/?p=854
not sure what the problem is… any suggestions?
I'm counting on you allthingsfacebook!

Having a like button is one thing but don't forget people also need a reason to like your page. Most won't do it blindly. These tips help: http://accelbusiness.com/ottawa-blog/get-people-t...

By liking the youlikehits users' fanpages, you will earn youlikehits credits, and then use this credits to get Facebook Likes to your fanpage. Youlikehits always have 1000+ users online whenever you login to youlikehits, so the chance of getting 1000 Facebook Likes to your fanpage in one day is possible.

You can earn credits by liking fanpages manually or using youlikehits bot (you must paid in order to use it). After you have earned some credits, just go to settings, add your fanpage to youlikehits, set the number of credits for each like (usually 9 credits for highest liking speed) and wait.
