As we’ve been anticipating over the past few weeks, Facebook has officially launched a new product called “Insights For Your Domain”. The product, which received no formal announcement during the f8 keynote or press conference, enables developers to track activities including the number of users, the volume of content shared, and the response time of a developer’s website.
It appears to be similar data to that which was already provided by Facebook but instead there are upgraded charts and a new way to track actions within a website. Facebook’s description of their analytics services state:
You can get detailed analytics about the demographics of your users and how users are sharing from your application with Insights. The Graph API provides programmatic access to all of this data so you can integrate Platform data into your own, custom analytics systems.
So is this a direct competitor to Google Analytics? At this point it doesn’t appear to be, however Facebook will rapidly have access to a large amount of analytical data to potentially launch large improvements to their Insights product in the future. This afternoon Facebook will be going into more detail about Insights to a developer audience at which point we’ll look for further clarification of the upgraded product.
To install the new Insights, you can visit the Facebook insights page and click on the “Insights For Your Domain” button.

If this is what's screwing up my info page where I can't edit my info anymore without having to do the damned link to other pages, I think it totally SUX. I don't give a rats ass about "convenience" for my friends to click to the friggen company page where I work. Facebook is really gone overboard in fucking up this time. MySpace is looking better and better to me everyday now!

Thanks for the article Nick. The company I work for started promoting a facebook page recently and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for how we can better interact with our 'fans'.
When you have a moment please visit http://www.facebook.com/armoredcars
I'm interested to hear what you have to say.

Nick, I think Dominic from Room 214 may have talked with you about this at F8 yesterday – but I know this a game changer for developers who have been trying to better track Facebook stats and activity across custom tabs.
We had been experimenting with Google Analytics, and a variety of goofy script ideas to more effectively pull the data we wanted to see into a custom reporting dashboard – but it was just messy.

I am having problems implementing this. I have successfully installed the Like button on my pages, I have successfully made myself an admin, and I have successfully added my domain to my insights page, but I have no insights. I know I am getting likes and hits, because I can see them, but nothing is showing up…
Any ideas? Is there something special I have to do?

Mike, I’ll second your comments. I have had several clients ask me the same thing. Nick, any ideas? I was actually going to email you guys about this today as it seems to be a common problem.

excuse my stupidity but when I follow the instructions above – To install the new Insights, you can visit the Facebook insights page and click on the “Insights For Your Domain” button.
it requests a "Domain" with the prompt Add a meta tag to your webpage
Gain access to insights for your domain by adding a fb:admins or fb:app_id meta tag to your root webpage, linking it to a page, application or your personal account.
where do I find this "meta tag:
thanks

@Tony
You have to add that tag on your own.
Read up on this http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph
So you will know how to add it.

Hi! Two small questions please
1) Is there any difference if i "Link With" my personal profile instead of my fan page?
2) Can i remove metatag after validation (it cause an error with w3c validator)?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English

What if I don't want this. I cannot visit any other page without putting in a domain name. VERY irritating!!!

We updated the unlimited domain hosting list. Hostgator ranked higher now, thanks to their great hatching web hosting plan. And webhostingpad and hostican are ranked higher too.
We also include the unlimited cloud hosting from sitecloud. We of the great unlimited domain hosting plans are ranked higher now and we highly recommending it. View the web hosting list for details!

" 2) Can i remove metatag after validation (it cause an error with w3c validator)?"
I would also like to know this. I accidently deleted the meta tag line in my website header. And I cannot see anywhere on Face book to get it back.
Also, do i add fb insights when im on my profile account or do i add it when im on my page acount? I might be bling but when i am on my profile account i cannot see a link for fb insights, but on my page account it on the right hand side.
