Facebook Launches Connect Plugin Directory and WordPress Plugin

-Wordpress Logo-Today Facebook will anounced the launch of their plugin directory. Included in the launch of their plugin directory is the release of a number of WordPress plugins that you can implement on your site. I have yet to test out the WordPress plugins but I’m sure they are good. I’ve already run into a number of issues related to wp-cache and wp-super-cache.

Also included in Facebook’s plugin directory is Disqus commenting. I have yet to test it out to see if it works currently but Disqus publicly announced today that they would be launching Facebook Connect support sometime in the next two weeks. Six Apart has also announced the release of their Facebook Connect plugin. All of these services should rapidly expand the number of sites leveraging Facebook Connect.

As usual we’ll be tracking many of the sites as they are implemented. To keep track of them you can check out our Facebook Connect site list. I will be trying out some of these plugins over the next day or so and I’ll let you know how they work. Please let us know what your experience is like as well.

  1. This is great…

I am concerned about the security implications of this though. What if a rouge site were to show a page that looks like facebook login page and steal user's credential…This looks like a pretty big hole to me.

    What do you think?

  2. I noticed that Facebook Connect on this site suffers from the same problem as my site. If you click the Facebook Connect button, it goes through the steps of linking the account and logs you in, but then immediately logs you out again and you see the Name, Email, and Website fields, along with the Facebook Connect button.

Any idea what causes this and if there is a fix?

  3. This is just a test… Wondering what Plug-in is being used here. Wondering if the fact that I’m commenting here will put a note in my news feed.
