Yes, if you’ve been trying to access Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that the site is down. So where are users going to discuss the fact that the site is down? Twitter of course! If you do a quick search for “Facebook down” on Twitter, you’ll see hundreds of people mentioning the fact that the site hasn’t been working. Not only has Facebook search been having issues for days but now the main site appears to be down for numerous people (or at the least is having accessibility problems).
Here in D.C. we aren’t able to access the site and other people around the country have confirmed that they aren’t able to access the site either. It came back up for a few minutes and then went down completely again. Between the power being out in parts of Palo Alto and the company having search issues for the past few days, this week is not an easy one for Facebook (or the addicted users).
So what are you going to do in this downtime? Here are 4 things that we suggest you do:
- Stand up – You’ve been sitting in front of Facebook for the past 8 hours. Seriously … you’re addicted. Admit defeat and walk away from the computer.
- Hug someone – You’ve been neglecting your loved ones in exchange for fake Facebook friends. Real life is seriously much better … try it out!
- Head over to Google Buzz – Haven’t heard of Google Buzz? Well it’s Google’s attempt to take on Facebook so why not give them the opportunity to gain your affection. Get on Buzz and figure out a way to waste another hour or two.
- Use Facebook on your phone – While the main site may not be working, Facebook is working on many mobile devices (I just tried on my iPhone and it worked).
Just type in M.facebook.com into the url on your browser, it works!
FB lite is working with no problems at all.

Strangely, but truly I am having no problems in accessing it
I have not been able to get in to facebook for over 1 week. Frustrating! And when I try a new account, It says I already have an account! So why won’t it let me open it?
I do feel the need to toss an oar in the water here, to correct a misperception that is both common, and commonly repeated by those who really ought to know better.
While, certainly, there are lots of people who have lots of facebook ‘friends’ they’ve never met, there are a similarly large number, like me frex, who only have FB friends they actually know, and most of the ones with whom they interact on a regular basis are *actual friends* — whom they generally would *not* get to spend as much time interacting with if it weren’t for Facebook.
So not only is it *not* the zero sum game that your tongue-partially-in-cheek posting implies, but in fact, Facebook makes it *possible* for you to maintain and grow a *larger* number of relationships than you would have time for otherwise.
I’m sure you know this, so could you please stop flogging the inaccurate meme otherwise?

facebook for iphone working on wifi but not on 3g
It appears not to work for me too. apparently it removed my gf as a friend and that im in a relationship with her, now none of my friends can access my page. It started 20th Feb 2010, a day on still no luck. I am hoping that the site has crashed because i have a fear i may of been hacked into. Whenever i try to log in, it just like refreshes the page like i havent even tried to log in when i have. has anyone else had this same or similar problem? if so please reply, would be nice to know im not just the one struggling.
