We are the leading site covering Facebook full-time (we are not associated with Facebook in any way). Small, medium, and large businesses are looking for ways to expand their business by building a presence on Facebook and we want to know how they plan to do so. Whether it’s on Facebook, or simply using the site to promote other resources around the web, we want to know how companies are using the site.
We are looking to hire a full-time analyst (minimum full-time for the summer) who can cover how companies are using Facebook to promote their business. The analyst will also spend time studying how developers are building businesses on top of the Facebook Platform. With our extensive industry network, we will provide access to leading companies as resources for learning how businesses are interacting with Facebook on a daily basis.
Here’s what duties the Facebook Analyst will be responsible for:
- Creating surveys that can be used to poll industry participants
- Writing 10 – 50 page reports highlighting everything from Facebook Advertising & Marketing, to how the social games industry is evolving and what role Facebook is playing in that industry.
- Conducting over the phone and in person interviews with businesses in the bay area to learn more about their businesses and what it means for the future of Facebook.
- Occasionally producing guides that highlight the best practices being implemented by small, medium, and large businesses for marketing on Facebook.
You must have the following skills:
- Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and other companies in the social media space
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel or Apple Numbers and ability to produce charts and graphs within these applications
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and excellent writing skills.
- Basic understanding of SQL would be a great bonus as we have large data sets within our database that will need to be analyzed. Furthermore, an understanding of PHP or comparable scripting language would be great for creating basic applications that will pull data. These are not robust applications, so no, you are not being asked to build the next Facebook!
- A basic understanding of general statistical analysis tools would be useful but not required. This can include things like performing regression analysis and pivot tables within Microsoft Excel.
Ultimately this is an opportunity to become the leading Facebook analyst, from now through when the company files for their Initial Public Offering (IPO). You will gain access to some of the leading executives and thought leaders within the social media industry. We are looking to build a leading research business and you will be the head of our Facebook research division, within our overarching research brand which has not been announced yet.
