Don’t Get Blocked for Being Too Social on Facebook!

Hey you! Don’t let me catch you adding too many friends or messaging too many users or you’ll wind up getting blocked! You may have seen it yourself, a warning dialog box which pops up and alerts you that your activity is of a rate similar to someone that is abusing the system (a spammer). Every day I receive emails from people that have been banned and they can’t get access to the site and receive no response from Facebook.

How Does Facebook Know You’re a Spammer?

Facebook uses a proprietary algorithm for determining unusual usage. The system automatically disables accounts whereas the reinstatement process is manual. Facebook states that “the speed at which you are acting and the sheer number of actions you have made are both taken into account.” After a little bit of analysis it’s pretty easy to determine what methods are used for determining spam.

Here’s the factors that we’ve determined Facebook uses to block users:

Number of friends – Do you have 20 friends or 1,000 friends? This is important because the more friends you have on Facebook, the more active you probably are on the site. As such, don’t think you’ll be able to blast out messages or wall posts to 300 people when you are friends with 50.
Content Similarity – If you are browsing through the site and writing the exact same wall post on everybody’s wall, there’s a good chance that Facebook considers this spam activity. Get creative and switch up the content you are creating. Otherwise let’s be honest, you are acting like a spammer … right?
Average Message Usage – How active is your Facebook inbox? If you receive 40 messages a day, you shouldn’t be punished for replying to them. [We assume that] Facebook calculates an average message usage for each user. If you fall outside a certain statistical deviation from your normal usage, you will be warned and possibly banned.
Time – A sudden surge in usage will set off Facebook’s alarms. If you haven’t sent a message in days but suddenly send out 50, you will look like a spammer.
Facebook Activity Factor – All of these factors (and others that we don’t know of) are used to generate an overall Facebook activity factor for each user. When your overall activity falls outside the statistical norm for you, you will receive a warning. If your usage doesn’t drop to fall within your normal usage levels within a specific time frame, you will be banned.

How to Avoid Being Blocked by Facebook

So now that you know what will get you blocked by Facebook you should pretty much know how to avoid being blocked. Don’t send too many messages, don’t post too many wall posts, don’t go adding friends at a ridiculous rate. Is this model fair? Well that’s really open to philosophical debate but Facebook has to battle spam and the easiest way to play nicely is to stay under the spam radar.

Facebook’s Internal Spam Conflict

As Kim Hart wrote in the Washington Post today, Facebook has an internal spam conflict. Facebook wants to ensure that users don’t get attacked by actual spammers. In the past year the volume of spam on social networks has increased. Both Facebook and MySpace have turned to lawsuits to try to end some of the largest spamming attacks. While Facebook wants to protect users’ right to communicate, they also want to ensure that spam doesn’t drive users away from the site.

Facebook has leveraged a model in which automated algorithms try to determine which users are spammers and ban them from the system. Unfortunately this model hasn’t completely worked as some spammers have found security holed and has leveraged those to spam users from accounts not owned by the spammer.

The bottom line is that Facebook continues their battle against spam. Just as luxury goods stores battle thieves, social networks must continuously allocate resources to battle spam. It has simply become part of the overhead in the social network business.

I understand the logic behind establishing rules and algorithms to block spammers, but shouldn't the algorithm recognize the fact that I share similarities with all the users I request a relationship with? (i.e. same high school, same graduating class, same college, etc…).

For the past year or two, I have rarely used Facebook and had less than 50 friends. I logged in a few days ago and found that I had a bunch of friend requests, most of which were high school friends that I have not seen in over 10 years. Once I added everyone, I found that most of my graduating class were all users of Facebook. Knowing that I'm still in contact with most of them, I started to 'add friends' who I know well enough to call a 'friend'. After I tried to add about 60 friends, Facebook shut me down.

Even more disturbing, most, if not all accepted my invite. I'm still blocked from adding friends – it's been about 28 hours.

Now I understand that I was wrong.

Of being too aggressive adding new friends prospects.

While on the other hand, I really do not have any intention to cause problem to the facebook community.

I wonder if my account could be rehabilitated ?

Ya this safety measure is agreeable upon but as i understand this cannot be a foolproof method to track spammers… nyway there should be a much more efficient algorithm to figure out the spammers from the occasional individual who wants to just say Hi to 100 to 200 frenz… It ain't their fault they have a lot of frenz and not enough time to keep in touch with them.

I havent been blocked but I woke up this morning and i couldnt access many of my friends profiles. I know that all of my closest wouldnt block and at least not all at the same time so I know facebook has something to do with it. I havent been messaging to much and I only 450 friends so I dont see how they can justify me being a spammer. If they do end up deleting my account im just going to forget facebook cause this would be the second time they deleted it and the second time I would have to remake my account and all those friends back. Facebook also deleted one of my videos for copyright infringment but I dont see what. I owned the music in the background. If someon can atleast give me some answers to why this is happening I will be very happy. Thank you

I now understand what i have done,i added many friends on my facebook to play gangster battle.From my understanding…i thought that by writing “gb invite” in the message box when adding people that it would not be spam.Thought that facebook team would know that it was for the game.Do i get a second chance ? can i have my account back and correct my mistake ? please.

The unaired dark side of Facebook, or should I call it “Disgracebook” because of the extremely poor disgraceful way Facebook treats its members. The reason I say the unaired dark side of Facebook is I have yet to see anything announced on the prime time major news outlets about the disgraceful practices Facebook uses on its members. The Internet is bursting at its seems with unhappy disabled Facebook members who have posted thousands of complaints everywhere it is possible to post complaints about Facebooks complete lack of customer service and mean spirited disregard for concerns, questions and feedback from members and former members.

If anyone thinks Facebook is “listening” to its members or advertisers or anyone wanting to communicate with them, they simply DO NOT know what they are talking about! Facebook ruthlessly, rigorously, relentlessly, and remorselessly walks all over its members with hob nailed boot polices of culling members from membership for unspecified unknown reasons and then accuses the permanently disabled unacceptable members as “possibly” being guilty of spamming or “possibly” being guilty of harassing other members because of asking too many members to be friends at an unspecified rate. Facebook goes on to permanently disable unacceptable members accounts that have too many friends, belongs to too many groups, pokes too many unknown times, sends too many email messages and on and on and on. The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, says that Facebook members seem to take a “personal ownership” of their Facebook accounts. Well, golly gee Mark, Facebook is supposedly a SOCIAL Internet program that people join to meet and make new friends. Making new friends, at least to me, is personal and publishing real photographs and genuine personal information on Facebook seems personal to me. Maybe you should say in your rules and regulations that Facebook wants members to be real and genuine but do not join Facebook for personal reasons and do not expect to be treated in a true genuine caring manner because Facebook does not care in the least about what you think or how you feel. When Facebook says you are guilty of breaking polices you will be treated with complete lack of respect in an impersonal sterile manner and declared unacceptable and permanently banned from Facebook without recourse.

On Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook Fan Page Mark states “I’m trying to make the world a more open place by helping people connect and share.” I am glad Mark says he is “trying etc.” because, in my opinion, he certainly has NOT accomplished his mission. Facebook is one of the most closed undemocratic uncaring unsocial business operations since the formation of the Gestapo. Facebook operates carte blanche without regard of a due process of rights for members Facebook deems unacceptable to be a member of its supposed Internet social network service and therefore, disables their account without warning. Facebook justifies its policy and actions under the euphemism of “protecting members” from “repeated actions that COULD BE CONSTRUED as spam,” and from anything Facebook makes up to be a threat to its security. Although Facebook publishes what it SAYS are its rules and regulations, Facebooks security is a computer program of unpublished nonspecific rules and regulations that are enforced by an automated, autocratic, uncaring broadly defined bureaucratic computer program that members violate without knowing it and then booted out of Facebook. If this is not Gestapo like policy, I guess I do not know what it is because it certainly is un-American to say the least!

Furthermore, in my opinion, Facebook is NOT a Internet “social network service.” When joining Facebook you are, in reality, joining an Internet money making “computer advertising program” that is set up to look like a Internet “social network service” for the public. In essence, the Internet “social network service” is a screen or cover for a “computerized advertising” empire designed with one thing in mind, the bottom line profits for Facebook investors. I am all for investors making a profit and if the investors will wake up they can increase their profits by paying attention to the consumer members of Facebook. As it stands now, the consumer is NOT king on Facebook. Facebook can at any time without having to explain its decision declare any member persona non grata. Is it any wonder Facebook members are treated with total disregard for being feeling thinking real people? I have yet to know of a computer program that is able to feel and or to reason. When placing a phone call to Facebook you are treated rudely and crassly informed to use their computerized automated services, which do not reply when used or quickly transferred to an automated answering service to which there is no reply.

Why a business would choose to advertise on “Disgracebook” is beyond my ability to understand sound business practices? I know that I will not purchase any goods or services advertised on “Disgracebook” and I urge anyone mauled by “Disgracebooks” insensitivity to boycott anything advertised by this disgraceful, despicable, sorry company!

If “Disgracebook” is treating its foreign members as poorly as it treats its domestic members “Disgracebook” is not only giving itself a black eye it is giving the United States of America a black eye. Is there anyone out there who cares enough and can communicate with Facebook to help Facebook become a user friendly Internet social network service it claims to be?

I strongly urge anyone interested to please research what I am informing you of because I assure you the situation I have explained is the truth and nothing but the truth so help me God. Until the media and or business community and elected officials takes notice of and makes public “Disgracebooks” dark side inhuman treatment of people Mark Zuckerberg and his staff and money making computer program will continue to execute its falsely accused unacceptable members and fill up trenches behind “Disgracebooks” California headquarters with their discarded accounts.

My acc is today blocked!

I realy dont know why.

I had about 1800 friends who play Mafia war and because of the games I started to come to Facebook.

Whether the reason a large number of friends which is blocked account,or something else really do not know.

If someone says to me, is because they were to blockade?

I see people over 3000 people with friends and not have the locking.

Is there any possibility that the ACC unblock???

I can’t believe it. Actually, I can. I have ALWAYS hated Facebook. Then I discovered just the opposite of Facebook — a really good social tool that auto syncs with the others — ReberbNation … except Facebook. Then when I tried to tell “my Facebook friends” about my group and event, I’m locked out. Then Facebook tries to “educate” me on how to use Facebook, one of the items is to suggest informing your friends about your group or event. Huh?????????? This thing just really sucks.

I was blocked because my "email domain was abusive to FB users". Can someone explain that?? Rules are rules, but, I'm being blocked because of my ISP. Where's the justice in that? I was only on the site for about a month.

Hello

My FaceBook is blocked due to adding of friends too fast. After being blocked, I started reading about being blocked, and now I understand why I am being blocked.

I was under the impression that FaceBook will send a message that if you further add friends you will be block and that this is your last chance. Noted that it does not work like this.

This is my first offence, would appreciate if you could unblock my FaceBook.I will be very discipline if you unblock my FaceBook.

After being transfer overseas to work about a year. I miss my friends and therefore I try to use FaceBook to keep in touch with my friends worldwide.

Being too anxious to add friends, I was being blocked. I hope you can unblock my FaceBook. Thank you for your understanding. I look forward to my FaceBook being unblocked.

I guess I was being too social and got blocked for trying to make friends and did not realize I could be blocked. I was only trying to met friends because it kept asking me to add them can I please be unblocked as my intention was not to be a trouble maker but only friends. As I have 177 friends now I will only add one or two a day. God Bless and please correct this for me please facebook.

I think its a bunch of BULL! So what about the spammers! They will always be around! No matter what!

Just find out who it is and delete them and block them from your page. There! problem solved! I would rather make that little effort than to be worried as to when that warning message is going to come up!. ! Delete! Delete!

Why should we suffer because of them?

i have a problem of been blocked for adding friends on facebook but after reading the article now i understood wats the problem. facebook thinks i m a spam thats because i was adding friends way too quickly so he blocked me after some tyme but is it even possible dat the block can be removed.

i still dont know but i havent recieved a warning yet for being disabled.

I don't think this is fair by putting a block on, especially when I had nothing to do with the 3 times that they were deleted by someone in the facebook outfit!!! I am NOT a spammer, only a fairly new person that doesn't know much yet about facebook!! Please help me get this block off, thank you

I am fairly new to fb and 2 times when I went on fb, all my friends were deleted. I had only 54 of them, and I tried to reinvite them. Then the very next day, when I went on fb, my friends again were deleted as were my games. Being very frustrated, I tried again to re-invite them and then a block came on saying I was abusing the system!, just by trying to get my friends back. I have no idea why in the first place were my friends deleted as I never deleted anyone of them. I’ve never had any problems before. So now what do I do on getting them back and when will that block come off? I never did anything to have all friends deleted.

Facebook is the worst social mechanism ever. They promote farmville, then when you try to build up a social network, they give you the "You are blocked from adding friends due to continued misuse of this feature".

If there was another way to play farmville, with using facebook, I would. Go take a hike facebook.

I've read the policy about Facebook blocking users, but how come those people who are violating this policy are still enjoying the use of the site? Done of my friends told me i was harassing and we all got on well. i was a keen fan of railway's, riverboats and gay community we respected each other. i did not make any money or wanted too do that, it's was only as a hobby interest and suggestion, i only used videos from you tube too share on my wall because i like it they were mainly trains ones. i never pushed anyone they didn't want too and respected their wishes. i don't know why facebook is doing this the operations of facebook and deciding who's being out of control this, guy is not doing a good job. im really upset facebook was my connection too my hobby interest like tourist railways. they accepted me as a friend we all have that choice of accept or ignored button if they accepted they are part of ur wall post. it saids leave a comment so i do with respected if they didn't want a comment i didn't have comment box or the person would of deleted you. everyone who accepted me as a friend was glad and got a lot who wanted too be my friend. now it's all gone im sorry too my loyal friends and fans and interest. facebook is running scared at the moment i think. i mean no harm too anyone and respected you all and who you are. please let me have my facebook account back i did nothing wrong. my friends wanted too be my friend too i did nothing wrong. i hope they review their decision i was doing no harm people like my ideas they were only ideas and for discussion. i wasn't a freak stalking anyone that hurts me deeply and wouldn't even want too stalk anyone at all thats sick. i also respected the law. jason i so so sad im blocked i just want too help and make friends as im lonely and respect me and each other.

FB =CATCH 22.

First you get blocked when trying to add some new relatives found in US. Then FB don´t tell you when the block will be lifted. AND at the same time they say that the block will be prolonged and maybe your account closed if you try to do so during the blocking period????

My crime was apprently that I sent the same message to my relatives. That I was a distant relative.

Why not ask for the answer of the users security question everytime something seems suspicious.

I have been blocked for days now and I am considering to reactivate Myspace if the block isn´t liftet soon.

I have an unusual situation for a block. I was typing out a text to post for help from a dog site, my message was too long, although it doesn't tell me HOW much over I am…I continued to edit my post, delete to shorten, then try to repost…I did this several times, not knowing I could get blocked for something so trivial. I recieved a message I was being blocked for misuse/spamming and I could be blocked several hours – to several days!!!

I have been very very active lately helping with animal rescue. I'm very distressed atm because I dont know when I can post again and I'm afraid if I try too much before it allowed me, it may result in my account being deleted.

HELP! FB info says they cannot reverse the block, I have to wait it out…I didn't DO anything to warrant being blocked!!!

Way to go FB, for disabling people for doing what a social network is for !

I play Mafia Wars, and one of the things to do in this game is…. add other players of the game, so you start adding a few, and up pops the pink box, EVEN if you change the message inviting them to join your mafia.

I do understand the problem with spammers, but they must be getting enough people to click on their links to keep them going, so if people would not respond at all, that would help more than FB blocking a user for simply following instructions in a SOCIAL game…

well,Facebooks positions against spamming is verry understandable and reasonable, but… what about daily social game players who MUST use Facebook ID to get to their games, and cause its SOCIAL game one needs certain amount of friends, it takes lots of posting and msg to get anywhere within those games. Are we spammers then? NO!.. but still we do fall most probably into the category of them by the amounts of posts and msg one must leave to other players in a day! SO please tell me how come Facebook decided to have games like that in their site if their rules contradict with game rules?! Many and I mean MANY facebook users are there only for the game. and if them will need to go I guess facebook gonna lose around half of its users! and with the way they handling their customers it wont be long before that happens. People start getting frustrated of not being able to do what they come for on this site to begin with!..I have enough of my social life in real life so Facebook is just a get away from it in the game I like playing!

I used to run a mafia wars family and as such received at least 40 mails each day and then the security box started popping up all the time with each new message, as a result i have given up being leader of this family and removed myself from alot of other groups to do with mafia wars because i new they were watching me, i'm also very aware of the content i put in any messages because of this, my friends and family from all through my life are also my friends and i have made lots of good online friends from other countries due to facebook, I am also very wary of ppl trying to add me to mafia wars now, as luck would have it I got most of my friends B4 facebook started this ridiculous whitch hunt and started blocking honest everyday users from their accounts, i know they have to watch out for spammers but there is a way of contacting them, I have a friend who was blocked and had his account reinstated within 3 days, however the fact that he works for zynga could have something to do with this, it's not what u know but who u know I feel with facebook, I have not always been a mafia player but it's my main game at the moment I have also played Farmville,fishville,farmtown,social city,bejeweled blitz and have all my own family photo's on my account, so it would be unfair for me to be blocked now after all the effort and work i have put into my account, I'm goiung to look ibnto this further and see if i can come up with a number for facebook and get back to u all…;-)

So I was on a cafe link site and someone was asking for cafe friends. I tried to add ONE friend and I have only added friends from my school and that was probably like 5 in the last 10 months. So I was surprised that they blocked me from friend requesting for 2 days. Saying that I was spamming!!!! I could see if I was sending out at least a friendship a day, or even a week. Actually this is the only time I have done that except for maybe like a year in a half ago wehn I was into the zoo thing- and I was adding other ppl who were looking for zoo friends. I might have added like 10 zoo friends. But that was like a yeari in a half ago.

My husbands account was removed, not bocked, removed, this afternoon. It gives a message that "Verification Failed." We were never asked to verify that account.

We used to have two accounts under the names of our pet cockatiels, just something cute for our family and it also helped us to satisfy our neighbor requirement in Farmville. We were blocked from logging on, the screen asking for account verification instead, in the form of an SMS text. Our phones don't do that, but when they added the option for a voice call, we unblocked the accounts immediately. This was in May. A week ago, the accounts were removed, claiming verification failed. SEVEN MONTHS LATER??? These accounts ONLY interacted with our accounts, and my immediate family members who play Farmville.

I used a fake name because I didn't feel safe using my real information. Now, if you don't use your real information, you lose your farm. I don't like this. I wish I never got hooked playing his game!

I got disabled for the first time ever. I've been with FB for a long time. We were recently moved to Germany, so FB is my way of communication with family back home in the US. My 7 week old has just started smiling and laughing, so I took rapid fire pics of him doing this. I uploaded the 15 photos via FB mobile. Only 9 of the photos went through, and I was sent a very rude email about how I was abusing the ability to upload, and if I wasn't careful my entire account would be disabled. Just wow!
I'm curious to see if they have a problem with the video I uploaded of him.
When a FB replacement comes along, I'm switching to it. This is ridiculous.

it's clear and simple, facebook is garbage..they claim their a social network, ok..social doesn't have to just be friend and spamming..I thought spamming was when you send more than one request to the same person. Why not have a simple system, you send a friend request, it either gets spammed or ignored so block the user from sending requests to that user. Look, I don't care if they have a spam problem. They need to hire more account specialists and respond to cases where no terms of violation have taken place. Then they ignore any and all explanations. You are guilty, even if you are innocent. People forget, that without, us, the customers, their social network and company would not exist. I know they are essentially a monopoly. However, unless everyone stands up for their rights, in the spirit of a social network, and especially when you have not violated their terms of service, they will continue this conduct. As a novice Facebook user and Wouter Weylandt supporter, I came up with an idea to build a permanent In Memorial Route 108 for this cyclist who died in the Giro d'Itlaia this year. Whereas Facebook was constantly encouraging me to invite more supporters due to the fact that we have so many mutual friends, I got punished severely by doing so.
I didn't write one line of text, I only clicked the buttons of people suggested by your own system or by others.

After a while, I left it up to the supporters of the person who died in that tragic accident to tell their friends themselves what we were doing. Even by accepting their friend requests, all of us together get punished now, thus the entire project coming to a complete shutdown. I don't get the logic behind the contradictory behavior of Facebook machines encouraging and punishing by accepting a recommendation.

It took me ages to find out where to address my concern for the project itself may die if this blocking keeps going on. I hope this post might help eventually avoiding all the good work of many collaborators to go down the tubes. Thank you for your swift reply.

I managed to add more than 200 friends while being blocked from adding friends and sending messages on facebook. I used the method called tamper data & a software that adds the list of IDs you upload to it. Now Facebook changed the php page that was used by the software.Waiting for another solution!

I had no idea there were so many horror stories out there. I’m trying to get a handle on this issue. I understand that websites are in a battle with spammers and they probably don’t have the resources to deal with innocent offenders of their rules so the end result is that they hurt a lot of people. I was hurt as well and I can see that I can’t continue to conduct myself in the same way I was because I am going to be hurt even further. I was doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons. Sending lots of the same messages to people I know to add them to a group I had made and I was very successful at it. I also do a lot of fun things on FB, like making pic albums with hundreds of pics in them, posting really interesting fun posts in my group as well as on my regular wall and on friend’s walls and pages too. All of this is a tremendous amount of work and time invested and I can be arbitrarily deleted at any time. Then all that work would go down the drain. That is so sad, and I would be devastated as I see so many others are. For every idea I have to fix this problem I can see why the resources just don’t exist to carry it out. So I have to stop putting all my good effort into this forum. It’s similar to what I heard the other day about pirating of movies and music preventing them from making anything good any more. I’m really saddened by these conditions. Anyone in control please feel free to contact me to discuss this further. Or do YOU even have the resourses? LOL

I understand the logic behind establishing rules and algorithms to block spammers, but shouldn't the algorithm recognize the fact that I share similarities with all the users I request a relationship with? (i.e. same high school, same graduating class, same college, etc…).

For the past year or two, I have rarely used Facebook and had less than 50 friends. I logged in a few days ago and found that I had a bunch of friend requests, most of which were high school friends that I have not seen in over 10 years. Once I added everyone, I found that most of my graduating class were all users of Facebook. Knowing that I'm still in contact with most of them, I started to 'add friends' who I know well enough to call a 'friend'. After I tried to add about 60 friends, Facebook shut me down.

Even more disturbing, most, if not all accepted my invite. I'm still blocked from adding friends – it's been about 28 hours.

Ya this safety measure is agreeable upon but as i understand this cannot be a foolproof method to track spammers… nyway there should be a much more efficient algorithm to figure out the spammers from the occasional individual who wants to just say Hi to 100 to 200 frenz… It ain't their fault they have a lot of frenz and not enough time to keep in touch with them.

I havent been blocked but I woke up this morning and i couldnt access many of my friends profiles. I know that all of my closest wouldnt block and at least not all at the same time so I know facebook has something to do with it. I havent been messaging to much and I only 450 friends so I dont see how they can justify me being a spammer. If they do end up deleting my account im just going to forget facebook cause this would be the second time they deleted it and the second time I would have to remake my account and all those friends back. Facebook also deleted one of my videos for copyright infringment but I dont see what. I owned the music in the background. If someon can atleast give me some answers to why this is happening I will be very happy. Thank you

The reason I say the unaired dark side of Facebook is I have yet to see anything announced on the prime time major news outlets about the disgraceful practices Facebook uses on its members. The Internet is bursting at its seems with unhappy disabled Facebook members who have posted thousands of complaints everywhere it is possible to post complaints about Facebooks complete lack of customer service and mean spirited disregard for concerns, questions and feedback from members and former members.

If anyone thinks Facebook is “listening” to its members or advertisers or anyone wanting to communicate with them, they simply DO NOT know what they are talking about! Facebook ruthlessly, rigorously, relentlessly, and remorselessly walks all over its members with hob nailed boot polices of culling members from membership for unspecified unknown reasons and then accuses the permanently disabled unacceptable members as “possibly” being guilty of spamming or “possibly” being guilty of harassing other members because of asking too many members to be friends at an unspecified rate. Facebook goes on to permanently disable unacceptable members accounts that have too many friends, belongs to too many groups, pokes too many unknown times, sends too many email messages and on and on and on. The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, says that Facebook members seem to take a “personal ownership” of their Facebook accounts. Well, golly gee Mark, Facebook is supposedly a SOCIAL Internet program that people join to meet and make new friends. Making new friends, at least to me, is personal and publishing real photographs and genuine personal information on Facebook seems personal to me. Maybe you should say in your rules and regulations that Facebook wants members to be real and genuine but do not join Facebook for personal reasons and do not expect to be treated in a true genuine caring manner because Facebook does not care in the least about what you think or how you feel. When Facebook says you are guilty of breaking polices you will be treated with complete lack of respect in an impersonal sterile manner and declared unacceptable and permanently banned from Facebook without recourse.

On Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook Fan Page Mark states “I’m trying to make the world a more open place by helping people connect and share.” I am glad Mark says he is “trying etc.” because, in my opinion, he certainly has NOT accomplished his mission. Facebook is one of the most closed undemocratic uncaring unsocial business operations since the formation of the Gestapo. Facebook operates carte blanche without regard of a due process of rights for members Facebook deems unacceptable to be a member of its supposed Internet social network service and therefore, disables their account without warning. Facebook justifies its policy and actions under the euphemism of “protecting members” from “repeated actions that COULD BE CONSTRUED as spam,” and from anything Facebook makes up to be a threat to its security. Although Facebook publishes what it SAYS are its rules and regulations, Facebooks security is a computer program of unpublished nonspecific rules and regulations that are enforced by an automated, autocratic, uncaring broadly defined bureaucratic computer program that members violate without knowing it and then booted out of Facebook. If this is not Gestapo like policy, I guess I do not know what it is because it certainly is un-American to say the least!

Furthermore, in my opinion, Facebook is NOT a Internet “social network service.” When joining Facebook you are, in reality, joining an Internet money making “computer advertising program” that is set up to look like a Internet “social network service” for the public. In essence, the Internet “social network service” is a screen or cover for a “computerized advertising” empire designed with one thing in mind, the bottom line profits for Facebook investors. I am all for investors making a profit and if the investors will wake up they can increase their profits by paying attention to the consumer members of Facebook. As it stands now, the consumer is NOT king on Facebook. Facebook can at any time without having to explain its decision declare any member persona non grata. Is it any wonder Facebook members are treated with total disregard for being feeling thinking real people? I have yet to know of a computer program that is able to feel and or to reason. When placing a phone call to Facebook you are treated rudely and crassly informed to use their computerized automated services, which do not reply when used or quickly transferred to an automated answering service to which there is no reply.

Why a business would choose to advertise on “Disgracebook” is beyond my ability to understand sound business practices? I know that I will not purchase any goods or services advertised on “Disgracebook” and I urge anyone mauled by “Disgracebooks” insensitivity to boycott anything advertised by this disgraceful, despicable, sorry company!

If “Disgracebook” is treating its foreign members as poorly as it treats its domestic members “Disgracebook” is not only giving itself a black eye it is giving the United States of America a black eye. Is there anyone out there who cares enough and can communicate with Facebook to help Facebook become a user friendly Internet social network service it claims to be?

I strongly urge anyone interested to please research what I am informing you of because I assure you the situation I have explained is the truth and nothing but the truth so help me God. Until the media and or business community and elected officials takes notice of and makes public “Disgracebooks” dark side inhuman treatment of people Mark Zuckerberg and his staff and money making computer program will continue to execute its falsely accused unacceptable members and fill up trenches behind “Disgracebooks” California headquarters with their discarded accounts.

Whether the reason a large number of friends which is blocked account,or something else really do not know.

Then I discovered just the opposite of Facebook — a really good social tool that auto syncs with the others — ReberbNation … except Facebook. Then when I tried to tell “my Facebook friends” about my group and event, I’m locked out. My FaceBook is blocked due to adding of friends too fast. After being blocked, I started reading about being blocked, and now I understand why I am being blocked.

I was under the impression that FaceBook will send a message that if you further add friends you will be block and that this is your last chance. Noted that it does not work like this.

This is my first offence, would appreciate if you could unblock my FaceBook.I will be very discipline if you unblock my FaceBook.

After being transfer overseas to work about a year. I miss my friends and therefore I try to use FaceBook to keep in touch with my friends worldwide.

Being too anxious to add friends, I was being blocked. I hope you can unblock my FaceBook. Thank you for your understanding. I look forward to my FaceBook being unblocked.

I guess I was being too social and got blocked for trying to make friends and did not realize I could be blocked. I am fairly new to fb and 2 times when I went on fb, all my friends were deleted. I had only 54 of them, and I tried to reinvite them. Then the very next day, when I went on fb, my friends again were deleted as were my games. Being very frustrated, I tried again to re-invite them and then a block came on saying I was abusing the system!, just by trying to get my friends back. I have no idea why in the first place were my friends deleted as I never deleted anyone of them. I’ve never had any problems before. So now what do I do on getting them back and when will that block come off? I never did anything to have all friends deleted.

i was blocked from facebook and it's wrong. FB =CATCH 22.

First you get blocked when trying to add some new relatives found in US. Then FB don´t tell you when the block will be lifted. AND at the same time they say that the block will be prolonged and maybe your account closed if you try to do so during the blocking period????

My crime was apprently that I sent the same message to my relatives. That I was a distant relative.

Why not ask for the answer of the users security question everytime something seems suspicious.

I have been blocked for days now and I am considering to reactivate Myspace if the block isn´t liftet soon.

I was typing out a text to post for help from a dog site, my message was too long, although it doesn't tell me HOW much over I am…I continued to edit my post, delete to shorten, then try to repost…I did this several times, not knowing I could get blocked for something so trivial. I recieved a message I was being blocked for misuse/spamming and I could be blocked several hours – to several days!!!

I have been very very active lately helping with animal rescue. I'm very distressed atm because I dont know when I can post again and I'm afraid if I try too much before it allowed me, it may result in my account being deleted.

HELP! FB info says they cannot reverse the block, I have to wait it out…I didn't DO anything to warrant being blocked!!!

Way to go FB, for disabling people for doing what a social network is for !

I play Mafia Wars, and one of the things to do in this game is…. add other players of the game, so you start adding a few, and up pops the pink box, EVEN if you change the message inviting them to join your mafia.

I do understand the problem with spammers, but they must be getting enough people to click on their links to keep them going, so if people would not respond at all, that would help more than FB blocking a user for simply following instructions in a SOCIAL game…

I can’t understand how can admins call facebook a social networking??? It is not acceptable at all that we reach the 22nd century and till now we are able to know the spammer from a normal user, GIVE ME A BREAK PLEAAAAAAASE, facebook admins, when you are not able to control the spammers act do not create such thing from the beginning, when you create rules please you have to be conscience not block the service you are providing by your rules…

Sooo ridiculous and unacceptable I can’t believe this.

on my first day i was blocked for adding all of my friends just because i was adding them all in the same day, now i cant send any friend requests, also they never sent me a warning.

well,Facebooks positions against spamming is verry understandable and reasonable, but… what about daily social game players who MUST use Facebook ID to get to their games, and cause its SOCIAL game one needs certain amount of friends, it takes lots of posting and msg to get anywhere within those games. Are we spammers then? NO!.. but still we do fall most probably into the category of them by the amounts of posts and msg one must leave to other players in a day! SO please tell me how come Facebook decided to have games like that in their site if their rules contradict with game rules?! Many and I mean MANY facebook users are there only for the game. and if them will need to go I guess facebook gonna lose around half of its users! and with the way they handling their customers it wont be long before that happens. People start getting frustrated of not being able to do what they come for on this site to begin with!..I have enough of my social life in real life so Facebook is just a get away from it in the game I like playing!

Guess I will have to stick with confirm only and that I am not sure of anymore, got probably 3000 friends some high school and a lot from game confirmation, I am assuming if I stay moderate and only confirm friends I may be ok not so sure anymore, if my account is blocked who do I ask to do a page to reinstate me?

I used to run a mafia wars family and as such received at least 40 mails each day and then the security box started popping up all the time with each new message, as a result i have given up being leader of this family and removed myself from alot of other groups to do with mafia wars because i new they were watching me, i'm also very aware of the content i put in any messages because of this, my friends and family from all through my life are also my friends and i have made lots of good online friends from other countries due to facebook, I am also very wary of ppl trying to add me to mafia wars now, as luck would have it I got most of my friends B4 facebook started this ridiculous whitch hunt and started blocking honest everyday users from their accounts, i know they have to watch out for spammers but there is a way of contacting them, I have a friend who was blocked and had his account reinstated within 3 days, however the fact that he works for zynga could have something to do with this, it's not what u know but who u know I feel with facebook, I have not always been a mafia player but it's my main game at the moment I have also played Farmville,fishville,farmtown,social city,bejeweled blitz and have all my own family photo's on my account, so it would be unfair for me to be blocked now after all the effort and work i have put into my account, I'm goiung to look ibnto this further and see if i can come up with a number for facebook and get back to u all…;-)

I have been blocked from sending messages. I think it may be as i sent a messages then copied and pasted it quite a few times to my partners freinds to tell them about a surprise birthday party. Maybe it was seen as spamming? I am more aware of the facebook rules/ precautions now after reading up. Is there a way I can be unblocked? Thanks

So I was on a cafe link site and someone was asking for cafe friends. I tried to add ONE friend and I have only added friends from my school and that was probably like 5 in the last 10 months. So I was surprised that they blocked me from friend requesting for 2 days. Saying that I was spamming!!!! I could see if I was sending out at least a friendship a day, or even a week. Actually this is the only time I have done that except for maybe like a year in a half ago wehn I was into the zoo thing- and I was adding other ppl who were looking for zoo friends. I might have added like 10 zoo friends. But that was like a yeari in a half ago.

My husbands account was removed, not bocked, removed, this afternoon. It gives a message that "Verification Failed." We were never asked to verify that account.

We used to have two accounts under the names of our pet cockatiels, just something cute for our family and it also helped us to satisfy our neighbor requirement in Farmville. We were blocked from logging on, the screen asking for account verification instead, in the form of an SMS text. Our phones don't do that, but when they added the option for a voice call, we unblocked the accounts immediately. This was in May. A week ago, the accounts were removed, claiming verification failed. SEVEN MONTHS LATER??? These accounts ONLY interacted with our accounts, and my immediate family members who play Farmville.

I used a fake name because I didn't feel safe using my real information. Now, if you don't use your real information, you lose your farm. I don't like this. I wish I never got hooked playing his game!

I got disabled for the first time ever. I've been with FB for a long time. We were recently moved to Germany, so FB is my way of communication with family back home in the US. My 7 week old has just started smiling and laughing, so I took rapid fire pics of him doing this. I uploaded the 15 photos via FB mobile. Only 9 of the photos went through, and I was sent a very rude email about how I was abusing the ability to upload, and if I wasn't careful my entire account would be disabled. Just wow!
I'm curious to see if they have a problem with the video I uploaded of him.
When a FB replacement comes along, I'm switching to it. This is ridiculous.

BEAUTIFUL, very helpful and yes I was blocked by their "Disgaraceful" company and I am know going to get rid of the site, I was only contacting high scholl friends and I got blocked. I DID NOT WANT to get on this site, didn't care to and I tried it, liked it, went on to contact good ole lost buddies and "WHAM" I got blocked and you are so truethfully right, they don't exist at all and that Zuckerberg fellow does not care. Matter of time before something better comes out, but in the mean time at least I can quit using this "DISGRACEBOOK" site and go back to keeping in touch by phone. By them blocking me, really could care less, now I see really how they operate. This Zuckerberg dude has no clue, has money and looks down on others I bet.

it's clear and simple, facebook is garbage..they claim their a social network, ok..social doesn't have to just be friend and spamming..I thought spamming was when you send more than one request to the same person. Why not have a simple system, you send a friend request, it either gets spammed or ignored so block the user from sending requests to that user. There are people with like 3500+ friends, yeah..like that might just be real, Hey facebook morons, wake up, Businesses also use facebook for connecting with customers and new clients that have interest in your products.

Look, I don't care if they have a spam problem. They need to hire more account specialists and respond to cases where no terms of violation have taken place. Then they ignore any and all explanations. You are guilty, even if you are innocent. People forget, that without, us, the customers, their social network and company would not exist. I know they are essentially a monopoly. However, unless everyone stands up for their rights, in the spirit of a social network, and especially when you have not violated their terms of service, they will continue this conduct. The people responsible for their policies are not Facebook, but the inactive, passive users that number too many, to change Facebook to their needs.

As a novice Facebook user and Wouter Weylandt supporter, I came up with an idea to build a permanent In Memorial Route 108 for this cyclist who died in the Giro d'Itlaia this year. Whereas Facebook was constantly encouraging me to invite more supporters due to the fact that we have so many mutual friends, I got punished severely by doing so.
I didn't write one line of text, I only clicked the buttons of people suggested by your own system or by others.

After a while, I left it up to the supporters of the person who died in that tragic accident to tell their friends themselves what we were doing. Even by accepting their friend requests, all of us together get punished now, thus the entire project coming to a complete shutdown. I don't get the logic behind the contradictory behavior of Facebook machines encouraging and punishing by accepting a recommendation.

It took me ages to find out where to address my concern for the project itself may die if this blocking keeps going on. I hope this post might help eventually avoiding all the good work of many collaborators to go down the tubes. Thank you for your swift reply.

I managed to add more than 200 friends while being blocked from adding friends and sending messages on facebook. I used the method called tamper data & a software that adds the list of IDs you upload to it. Now Facebook changed the php page that was used by the software.Waiting for another solution!

I had no idea there were so many horror stories out there. I’m trying to get a handle on this issue. I understand that websites are in a battle with spammers and they probably don’t have the resources to deal with innocent offenders of their rules so the end result is that they hurt a lot of people. I was hurt as well and I can see that I can’t continue to conduct myself in the same way I was because I am going to be hurt even further. I was doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons. Sending lots of the same messages to people I know to add them to a group I had made and I was very successful at it. I also do a lot of fun things on FB, like making pic albums with hundreds of pics in them, posting really interesting fun posts in my group as well as on my regular wall and on friend’s walls and pages too. All of this is a tremendous amount of work and time invested and I can be arbitrarily deleted at any time. Then all that work would go down the drain. That is so sad, and I would be devastated as I see so many others are. For every idea I have to fix this problem I can see why the resources just don’t exist to carry it out. So I have to stop putting all my good effort into this forum. It’s similar to what I heard the other day about pirating of movies and music preventing them from making anything good any more. I’m really saddened by these conditions. Anyone in control please feel free to contact me to discuss this further. Or do YOU even have the resourses? LOL
