Facebook has fixed a bug in its updated Android app to deal with a reported battery drainage issue.
The Facebook for Android page was updated overnight to say: “Hi folks, we just released an updated version of the Facebook for Android app (version 1.3.1) that includes a fix for the battery drain problem some of you were running into. The app is now available in Android Market. You may need to wait a little bit for Android Market to send out the update notification. Thanks for all the quick feedback and thanks for your patience as we got this bug fixed!”
Version 1.3 had rolled out earlier this week and included a makeover to make the Android Facebook app look more like the iPhone app. AndroidSpin reported that the app included a “partial wake lock”, which meant the app was always running in the background and draining batteries, even when the device appeared to be in sleep mode. Android users were reporting jumps in their daily phone activity from 2.5 hours to 11 hours as a result of the upgrade.

Version 1.3.1 is still draining my htc desire battery in less then 6 hrs. If you check the facebook pages as well, this is the same for many more.

Glad to read it's been solved! I'm impressed to see how a single buggy app can kill your battery!

Talking Battery is the first Android application that informs you about the amount of available battery energy via voice messaging. don´t fix the problem but helps.
