Reuters reported yesterday that Facebook is partnering up with CareerBuilder to help clients run job recruiting through the site. This makes a ton of sense as I’ve had countless recruiters tell me of their strategies for finding potential employees through Facebook. Many of them have been temporarily banned for sending out too many messages but none of them have ceased with their activities due to the extremely valuable data present in user profiles.
According to the article, “Specialized recruiting ads will promote CareerBuilder and employers’ sections within Facebook, with the aim of attracting potential hires who may be hard to reach via traditional methods like newspaper help-wanted ads.” According to statements from Mike Murphy of Facebook, no ads will be inserted within user profiles (in contrast to the inaccurate posting by David Kaplan).
It sounds as though the new program will simply leverage Facebook’s SocialAds system to promote to prospective employees. This makes a lot of sense and may be one of the reasons that Facebook has policed their site heavily to prevent aggressive recruiters from abuse.

If they had a special application devoted to people uploading their resume, CareerBuilder would have access to some of the user's personal information (well, as much as the Application API releases). Perhaps they plan on using that information to give recruiters a little 'extra info' at a price.
