Over the past two weeks I have been seeing a spike in the number of users emailing me to see how they can get their Facebook account re-enabled. Why are they emailing me you ask? Well, they’ve emailed Facebook, haven’t received a response and are now trying to figure out how to get their account back. While I’m sure that the frequency of these e-mails will increase as the site grows in size, over the past couple weeks I’ve seen a large increase in the volume of such emails.
I can’t explain what has taken place but my guess is that it’s a result of two things: Facebook is increasing in size rapidly and the “Koobface virus” has not been eliminated. Given that users have their passwords stolen or phished via the Koobface virus, their account will also be shut down once Facebook’s automated algorithm determines that they’ve been posting too many wall posts on their friends’ accounts.
The end result is that a user ends up locked out of their account and regularly hears nothing back from Facebook. For first time offenders accounts are usually back up and running within days but occasionally it takes longer depending on what happened. My guess is that Facebook automatically re-enables all accounts of first time offenders after a few days. This is because they must get thousands of emails every day about account cancellations.
For more substantial violations or repeat offenders, users will have to go back and forth with Facebook directly which can be a time consuming process. My best guess is that the Koobface virus is the primary cause of the spike in accounts being disabled. Have you had your account disabled ever? How long did it take before you got your account back?

I had my messaging abilities and ability to add friends shut down once for a few days..
now i find myself fully disabled….
am i a second time face book junkie thats too social so im labled an offender…. i guess i am..
i was disabled on dec 19th.. its not he 21st… im not sure how much longer i will be down..
ive used the email accounts off of getsatisfaction.com but i think that the peeps that got their accounts back were just that.. those that were automatically gotten back after a 3 day spanking.. we shall see..

My account was disabled yesterday, I believe for repeated posting – I posted the same message around 6 times in various groups plus in a message to a contact.
What worries me is that the Fan Pages I ran have now dropped off Facebook and the Group I ran some business through now has no administrator and is “ownerless”.
I’ve emailed into Facebook and can only hope my account comes back and also that the Fan Pages and Group permissions get re-instated too.
Does anyone have any similar experiences to me re: Group and Page ownership when being disabled?

I was disabled yesterday from Facebook ;(
And it was all of a sudden, and I’m sure i wasn’t breaking any rules.
I’ve already sent 3 mails to complain, but I haven’t got the answer from the administrator yet.
I don’t know what to do, but I’m sincerely hoping that they will reply, and give account back to me. I HOPE!

Im from the bahamas and my account was shut down on Dec,23,2008 when i came hom from work and its sooo crazy cuz I have or had..LOl a gospel page i make gospel music..and they said my account had been disabled by a administrator. For what I had a gospel music paghe up and i was running ads too i mean come on i didnt have porn up.lolwell i git alil comfort knowing im not alone i was thinking it was just me..but i have been emailing them like crazy this is just the secoung day Dec,24,2008 thanks alot merry christmas

I woke up this AM and tried to sign in to Facebook, only to find my account had been disabled. Why? I have no idea. No warnings, nothing. I have done nothing wrong. I read all the rules and can't find one thing in them that I have done. Geez, this is terrible. I have a fan page on there and I don't know if it's still up and running or what. I've emailed my friends whose addresses I know but haven't heard back from them yet. Please help.

I was disabled on the 24th of December at 7 PM approx.
I had received a warning on the morning saying : "our systems indicate that you have misused some Facebook features"…
I received no explanation for the exact reason why they disabled me !
The reason might be :
1. I transliterated my name in Cyrillic alphabet (I speak Russian and got registered in the Russian network although I live in Paris).
2. I made great use of the "Facebook Icon Feature" you can find in any press article (Financial Times, The Economist, You Tube,…) ; when you clik on this icon, it puts a link on your profile…
3. I might have "shared" on my profile through this "FB icon feature" some videos I found on You Tube…….

Mine was disabled out of the blue. I had no idea this could happen. It says I joined a high school network I shouldn't have. WTF??? I'm now totally disgusted with facebook. I have read some of the correspondence that has gone on between facebook "support" {barf} and people trying to get their accounts reactivated. They talk to people like they are five year olds, chastizing them for their activities on the site. I'll be d@mned if I kiss their @$$'s to get my account back.
Also, if they decide your loser @$$ can't have your account back, you have no way to do a thing to your profile.

Facebook disabled my account today. I wrote in and they told me that their decision is final.
Here is the brief story…when I started with Facebook, I found a ton of old friends and I sent out mass friend invites, which Facebook warned me about. I didn't see anything wrong with trying to reconnect with old friends.
Next, I started to play a Facebook application called, "Mafia Wars." And I hooked up with many of the groups (around 2 dozen) and I got another warning about that one. Than, the most recent, I sent out a request to my friends and family (the message said the same thing, because it was the same news I wanted to convey to them all). Facebook once again intervened and told me to stop sending so many messages out (as if that was a crime to send messages to your friends and family). Than, they just decided to disable my account permanently.
I have spent countless number of hours uploading, tagging, reconnecting with friends, etc. I cannot even begin to tell you at what a loss this comes to me.
I feel very angry, frustrated, and above all else…I want to seek revenge. I read countless number of other individuals going through the same problem and it is really sad. Facebook has said that their site is not about sending many messages to friends and family. They also say its not about chatting. My questions is, if it is not about chatting or sending messages, than why offer the service. Of course, those that do spam have hurt the rest of us and Facebook is utterly merciless and relentless and hurting people. They have no idea how much someone puts into their account and they come along and disabled it for good. That is really sad. My wife is still on Facebook, along with most of my friends. Sure, I can establish another account, under a different e-mail address, but I really do not want to. I am really discouraged, because I put a lot of sweat, time, and effort into my account for all my friends. What is wrong with that?
I just ask those reading this, please pray for me that I do not do something really stupid, because I have a million things racing through my mind right now and I want to act upon them!

I think Facebook is, hands-down, the best social networking site on the internet to this day. The site distributes information while maintaining a level of personal integrity and privacy, ideal when attempting to make contacts on the web.
However, it's appalling customer service has left me hanging for an entire business week after I was hacked by someone using the infamous 419 scam to beg my friends for money. After hacking a user's password using look-a-like, illicit log-in pages, the spammer is able to access the user's Facebook page, including a lot of personal information and contacts of friends.
I have been incessantly emailing the Facebook team about my situation, to no avail. The one email I received from Dori, a member of the team, gave me a glimmer of hope, that slowly faded as a week passed, and no attempt at contact was made.
From a site as notable as Facebook, this was frankly disappointing, and put a severe damper on my enthusiasm for the site. What's more, as I am preparing for a huge music gig in august, trying to advertise my blog, gain employment as a writer in a newspaper in Boulder, and trying to find roommates at a new school, I do not have access to the most useful social networking tool I have, and it has been taken away unfairly.
Hacking is clearly not something to be taken lightly, but neither are 25 emails from a pissed-off student. who relies on Facebook for many aspects of her life.
Also, I'd like to know that all of my personal information is secure, and a little reassurance from the Facebook team via a short email is not too much to ask for.
Upon doing further research, many former users of the social networking site have complained about Facebook's terrible customer service. One blogger posted she was permanently disabled for sending too many "Happy Ramadan!" messages. Unfortunately for this blogger, she suffered a month of no food AND no Facebook, and, at the point of her posting, STILL hadn't received any help from Facebook.
With no explanation and no support, Facebook cuts off their access to fan bases, friends, photos, peers, colleagues, and coworkers. Bloggers across the country are now turning to Twitter due to their open policies about posting.
MY SUGGESTION: Email incessantly. Write every admin account you can find, every day. Anyone replies? Keep writing that email. Fight for what you want.
From a corporation as noted and celebrated by the media, I would have expected more.

My account was disabled…why? I have no idea and have emailed various addresses of Facebook. I am not a Blogger nor do I sned SPAM. I am a teacher of over 16 years, so I have literally hundreds of current and former students who search me out and we reconnect. I also play Farmville. I really want my account reactivated because I mentor three inner city high school boys….they most likely do not hava clue where I went! This was how we were planning on keeping in touch over the summer vacation period. I even got them involved in Farmville of all things! Same thing happened to me on 8/14/09. All I know is that I answered a few inbox messages and I was thrown off the site. No one will get back to me and I've emailed every single facebook email address that I can find. I'm utterly shattered. My friends have even started a group and petition to reinstate my profile; there are over 170 members. I don't know what else to do except beg and grovel to them. I am sorry for whatever it was that they feel I did and I won't do it again. I can't stop crying. I miss my friends and my games. My photos are all on there. I'm so sad.

So I'm in the same boat as you guys now, got disabled today, I have no clue of the reason as I have only about 30 friends, I play no games and post here and there on my friends walls or pictures. I'm absolutely clueless about what I done so tragic, that caused me to be disabled, I thought it was a social network, so I socialized and got disabled for it?

My Facebook Account was disabled last week. I recieved an email stating that my account had been temporarily suspended for security purposes. I then rec'd another email asking me to scan in a government issued ID to prove that the account is mine. I responded with a definite "NO" to that. It sounds like a scam. Has anyone else been asked to scan in a photo ID? I have sent emails to several different addresses with no further response. Temporary seems permanent to me.

I just found out that my facebook account has been disabled in wich I had nearly 2000 friends! Facebook will not give me any answers as to why!!! I had several friends have theres deleted for no apparant reason! This is a fact that if facebook does not restore my facebook account intact, with all my contacts & all profile info just as it was before it was deleted, there will be such a law suit hanging over them of emotional & psychological damage as a result of this action, they will no long exist as a whole!!! Its not a threat its a bonafied fact!!! Believe me I do have the resources & the connections to see this through! Facebook, take notice, restore my account or risk being shutdown! Kev……………

i was into my facebook account yesterday morning & then when I tried to sign in a few hours later It kept bringing me back to the sign in page. I tried the cap locks, I checked my e-mail address & repeatedly entered my password to no avail. My daughter & grandaughter have tried to sign into facebook on my computer & got the same thing happening yet they can get into their accounts on their computer.This leaves me confused. Yesterday October 20 2009 I was into my facebook account, then a few hours later when I tried to sign into my fb account it kept taking me back to the sign in page. I checked the cap lock, checked my e-mail address & repeatedly typed in my password to no availle.My daughter & grandaughter both tried to sign into fb on my computer & they got the sign in page repeatedly even though they can get into their fb accounts on their own computer.I need to try to sign into fb on their computer yet but that’s not going to make a difference with my sign in page that I can see.I am so confused about all of this. Hello,
today i signed into my facebook account and everything was ok. i was doing a test of a friend of mine and after i finished, i wanted to put a comment, but i couldnt because i soposedly wasnt loged in, so i tried logging in and it said that my account was desabled. i want to re activate it again cause i did absolutely nothing wrong, i respected all thgeir rules and logged in every week or so.

I have been trying to log in to my account for a week, and an error box pops up telling me my email is "invalid." 5 days ago, I was signed in automatically, but kicked off when I tried to change my password for good measure. Facebook says that an "invalid email" is a non-personal address, my log in email is my personal gmail address. I have been using this log in email for awhile now and never experience this problem. I changed it about a month ago from my school email because I no longer have access to that email account, and everything worked fine. When I first reported the problem, I received an email from Facebook telling me that there is no account registered to my email, but I keep receiving email notifications when someone writes on my wall, etc. All of my friends can still see my account, so I know it hasn't been deleted and that it is still working. I'm afraid someone hacked it, so I reported that, and I have yet to hear back. I've been emailing Facebook (info@facebook.com) and have yet to hear back. I don't know how to fix the problem because Facebook doesn't respond. Any recommendations?

Hi, about mid way through Thanksgiving Break I tried to log on to my facebook account and they gave me a message that my account had been disabled. I know I did not violate any of the terms of use. I have been on facebook for many years now! I'm very upset that they disabled my account without warning! One minute I was on mafia wars one of many applications I enjoyed playing,then I was going home when all of a sudden It said your account is disabled I thought that's a joke because I have read the agreements and i understood the terms, I know for a fact that I did'nt break the rules or whatever they call it. My account was disabled as of Monday, February 22, 2010. It's now 5 days later (Friday). I got one robotic response back and that's it. It's very frustrating when you lose contacts that you haven't even seen for over 30 years. My photos lost and my contacts were lost. I don't play any games and I rarely even download those applications (i.e. hearts friends give you, etc.)
The only thing I can think of that happened was this. One of my Facebook friends wanted to report someone on Facebook, and she didn't know how to go about doing it. So I told her I'd help her out. I went into the Help Center for Facebook and copied and pasted a paragraph on what to do and sent it to her in an e-mail through Facebook. It was right after that, my account was disabled. I didn't even do anything wrong.
Some people have been disabled twice. If that were to ever happen, I think I'd give up.

I had a laugh because to the right of this text box is a "Connect with your Facebook Account" button.
My account was hacked yesterday. Somebody logged in as me (my password was not the best) and was telling my friends I had been mugged in London and that I needed money. A common scam, to be sure. Well, one of my friends knew what was going on and called me up, so I logged on from my computer and changed the password, telling my friends what had happened. (The chat windows were still open because when you log in from multiple places, the chat windows go everywhere you're logged in.) I thought that was the end of it, but this morning I woke up, and a friend had sent me an IM overnight asking why my FB acct was "deleted." So I logged in, and yep, disabled. So I emailed disabled@facebook.com, but after reading the comments here, I have to say that I don't think I will hear from them again. This may be the best thing to happen to me, though, because now I won't be tempted to check my profile when I am at work!

Trust me, I just (today) had my account disabled. I've looked up the rules up and down and looked up reasons why i might have been disabled, but can't find anything. It is annoying, I don't message a lot, don't have more than 20 friends (most people i know don't have facebook, what a surprise) am not ina lot of groups. Usually, I get on for my farmville and to check up on some things my friend wants to show me. So I'm just about as confused xD
I can wait a day or two though, see what's up. It's just strange that I would be hit with something and not some of my other friends who get on every day just about a message a lot and have a lot of friends and do more things that would make Facebook freak out. With any luck, within a day or two, it will go away and I won't have these problems anymore. Wish they would at least send you an e-mail to let you know you've been disabled, and why. Would help fix things and I'm sure less people would be complaining.

I, like many others, was logged onto facebook when I all of a sudden lost connection and when I attempted to log back on, I recieved a message that I was disabled. I followed the instructions to appeal, recieved an automated response, then nothing so far other than having to confirm the email saying it was me. I had my account for over a year, and was an active player in mafia wars, farmtown, and farmville, becoming a strong player I had reconnected with many people online, had photos, etc. I can't even begin to fanthom what their reason is for taking my account. I know I did not do anything wrong, and if I did, it surely would have been 100 percent unintentional. Not knowing why is perhaps the hardest to deal with. It is also astounding that with the millions of accounts, that there is absolutely no way in which to have contact with a person other than email. All I want, is my account back!

My Facebook account was randomly disabled yesterday afternoon. I emailed "disabled@facebook.com" and put "My account has been disabled!!!" in the subject line. Then, I typed the same in the text area and gave my full name that is seen on my FB Profile. I got an instant acknowledgment email from Facebook saying they would look into it (obviously computer generated). 14 hours later, my account was reactivated and I got an email stating that. I went to my account, logged in and PRESTO! It's all fine

So that was that for them. I sent another message to this outfit with a more thorough appeal to them & all I received was this same message, albeit without signing…
My question is: what kind of appeals process is this? Unilateral & without any way to really defend oneself?
From what I can determine, was arguing for political reasons with another FB member on a radio talkshow site on FB, because of an ongoing strike in the State University…later that day i realised I was disabled, & feel I can connect one event with the other…no way to prove it, of course…
I do not feel this is too fair; does anybody know if there is some other way to appeal to this organisation, or at least to somehow get back to FB? I do not do it for these ppl, I do it for all my friends, some of them very dear to me, who of course do not know why I am gone…Any & all suggestions will really be appreciated!!!

I was away visiting a friend when in the midst of sending a message on a small private FB group to a friend I was signed out of my account. Upon attempt to sign back in I get the message that my facebook account was disabled. Harsh enough that in my reality I am physically disabled to have my account taken away when it is almost the only way I communicate with family and friends. Adding injury to insult I was also extremely ill at the time of my account being taken away. Being an avid APP user of paid for games that I invested time, money, and energy.
I immedietly contacted Facebook and continued to do so with no response whatsoever except for two automated messages. Id receieved no warning and no reason. It has now been 31 days since my account was disabled on April 19th. Is there any reason to believe I will ever get it back and is there anything I can do regarding the Games and what I have invested in them. This all feels like banging my head against a brick wall. As much as I didnt want anything to do with Facebook it became my tool for communication as I am also a person with Aspergers and FB was a tool to deal with these limitations.

I am a well known web developer and internet pioneer (with Media connections) whose Facebook Account was just recently deactivated for no apparent reason also. I am absolutely astonished and amazed that so many others like me exist. I'm sure there are a lot of people who have definitely violated FB's terms and were detected by FB's automatic algorithms, but I'm also sure there are a lot of us who haven't. AND, I'm also VERY sure that regardless Facebook's resolution practices are HORRIBLE and non-existent at best.
Our Usership provides them with a large enough audience that they are able to make hundreds of millions off of us and we are not important enough that they will have a simple and decent resolution department (that is actually effective and existent)???
I am considering putting up a Facebook Clone, almost exactly like their site…so that all of us who used them can have the same familiar knowledge of it…and then getting everyone to sign up and use it instead…and when it is large enough to earn Ad dollars, I would be willing to sign a public contract that forever/indefinitely dedicates a portion of the proceeds to a Customer Service User Account Resolution Team…unlike Facebook is willing to do.
If I do this AND publish to the media and publicly on this site my agreement to the public, will you all join me and create temporary accounts on Facebook and post to your friends to join you and us on this new site instead?

I refreshed my facebook and all of a sudden it was disabled. This was the first time it happened. No bad pics.. no explicit material… the only thing I can think of is I posted an article that I wrote in three places, to all the groups that I administer. I sent them to emails and they haven't responded. ughh, this is annoying… what do I do? please email me krcasteel@vwc.edu.

I have No idea about the FB disabling spree that is occurring… But I was also hit… Apparently you can't use Nicknames such as Pool Otter, Stacy Duck, ETC.. I thought that this new change may have been why my account was disabled.. But I suddenly got an email back and my account was re-instated and they said they has Wrongly Disabled it.. But now, My mother account has been disabled.. I have no idea what the deal is with it all, but the absolute lack of warning and communication is unacceptable.. It took 7 days for my account and my mothers is still MIA… Neither of us had violated any of the Term of Use.. The way they are handling all of this is ridiculous and we have filled complaints with The Better Business Bureau ( BBB) and I would urge any of you who have had the same issue to do the same..
They may be Facebook, but they are not above the rules and regulations that apply to all others..

Can't even get to facebook ! They disabled me for nothing? How can they do this without a word of why they are doing it, I didn't add a thing to my accout no pics, or even new friends, just bam account locked …

My daughter's account was disabled 5 days ago. She was on a friend's page and was told to log in again. She did and her account was disabled. We clicked the "here" button and it led to a High School Networking issue. We found out at least 8 other kids were hit with the same problem. I strictly monitor her account – no personal information is on there and I know all her friends. She gets on mostly to play games and has invested a lot of time. I was told her account was diabled forever, there would be no more contact, to send a screen shot of her issue, and yesterday I received a notice (after completing a form) that she needed to log onto her email, copy the EXACT email address from Facebook, and compose a new note. In the meantime,she is not create a new account as she is in a que. GOOD NIGHT! She is a kid! It has been 5 days and we have written to 3 different email addresses. We are holding on now to see if anything will happen. This is the form that helped one person with the same issue get their account back in an hour and another whose account was restored in a day. I DON'T think it was hacked. She has completely disappeared from FB. I posted on my wall (her friends are my friends) that she has been disabled and if anyone sees anything from her to contact me immediately.
Has ANYONE had their issues fixed? I cannot believe that FB can be this big and not have any Customer Service. Where is Mark now?

my facebook account was disabled once. i emailed it in and facebook sent me back something about 4 or 5 days later saying that my facebook was disabled due to a error in facebooks security, and they gave back my account. you are suppose to get an email back so they know its the right adress, and theres a specific email that you are again suppose to say your problem to, and because of all the people emailing in problems, it may take a little bit. and FYI, the more you spam emails, the longer its going to take, because it even says that spamming emails will not make it go quicker, and they have even more emails to look thru when you spam, so be paitent, they will fix it

I am very unhappy with facebook because I did not think for one minute I was doing anything wrong cos i added people like i didnt know trying to ask girls on dates they think of me as a pest its been a week and a half now since i cant add a friend who i know I wasnt even warned which upsets me sometimes I dont understand cos I have a learning disabilty
I cant get my words out. Please what I am asking is let add friends who I know and I promise not to add strangers If you could look into it for me I would be most grateful thank you for taking your time to read what I have to say.

Did you ever get it back? Mine just went down on 9/23 when they supposedly had problems, and I accidentally emailed them from a different email account (oh shame on me) but immediately went to my old email and emailed them from there. they answered the email from the wrong address at midnight, but I still haven't heard back. I started a new profile…..friends and family mean a lot and wonder what happened. Love my games, have played a couple for almost 2 years, all that gone, but the big thing…….my pictures of my family and friends, and some family pictures that are those that are now deceased. Yes I have other copies, but will have to dig for them. My birthday greeting to my daughter is gone…….all the posts to my friends that I've added so far gone. I don't want my new page, want my old one. I think 5 pages is long enough to disable me for something that I was never warned about and am still clueless. I post a lot on friend's pages and 1 friend and I use email instead of chat only because chat doesn't work too well. I suppose that's the problem. that and making new friends on facebook. Oh shame on me for doing so on a social network!

My account was disabled yesterday without warning. I violated no terms of service. Here is the reply I received this morning from my email questioning why:
<<Fake accounts are a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.
Facebook requires users to provide their real first and last names.
Impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited, as is maintaining multiple
profiles on the site. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this
account for any reason. This decision is final.>>

Yes, mine too. I cannot get in touch with anyone to reinstate my account. It's very frustrating. I have many friends, as well as a few games that I have spent quite a bit of money in building. Now, what, all that is gone? I AM A VICTIM in all this, but I'm the one being punished! If these guys can't handle the volume of customers, they need to close up shop.
If anyone has any methods to get reinstated, please respond, I'd appreciate it.
Oh, yes, I did file a complaint with BBBSilicon.com. Maybe if everyone who is unjustly disabled filed a complaint against FB with the Better Business Bureau, they'd lose their A+ rating.
Anyway, any help would really be appreciated.

i was talking to a friend on facebook when she noticed a box in the corner of my chat box and it turned out to be my password i tried to change my password in fear someone was hacking in but now i cant get back on to my facebook i had to change my email address to get another account but now that wont let me send requests to my friends on my old account i did nothing wrong but try to stop someone hacking into my account why am i being treated like the hacker now someone else could be talking to my friends

i was hacked on my facebook i tried to change my password but now its treating me as the hacker and not letting me in i had to change my email to get a new account but that one wont let me send requests to my friends on my old account ive tried sending e mails to my friends with no answer to i think maybe facebook is blocking them to so someone else is on my account taking all my information so what the hell happened to its privacy and safety part on there i am annoyed to its just not right facebook as far as i know was sold to google maybe thats whats causing it all to go wrong i appologise for swearing hope you get reactivated

i wouldnt bother if i was you opening another account i got locked out of my account becouse someone was hacking it i opened a new account changing my email and that one wont let me send friends requests to my friends on my old account plus i cant send them e mails becouse a warning comes up miss use of face book

i was playing a game when i got kicked off facebook, i tried to sign back in but was told my account was disabled, i have not done anything to get my account disabled so why am i being treated like this, i have e-mailed facebook and not heard a thing, i rely on facebook as i am disabled and virtually bed ridden, if i have a problem i get help/support from my friends, but now i am stuck, if i had done something wrong fair enough, but i have not done anything at all, what do i do now??????????????

My partner and I run the Facebook page for our business Boys Be Cool and two days ago both our private accounts were suspended for "posting spammy and irrelevant remarks on people's pages" , including our own page! The personal accounts, as well as the page have been suspended for 14 days. Now, this is obnoxious, unjust automated suspension! We have a vibrant Facebook community, whose life is in a mercy of Facebook's bots! We communicate with the stores and brands' pages via Facebook and they do the same. How is this possible to shut the business down for doing its business? Whatever e-mails I could find I sent e-mails that naturally went unanswered. Do you have any idea where else we could submit a complaint?

I have Decided to Contact The BBB since Facebook has refused to answer any of my emails with an explination as to why they would Disable my account after 5 years of being on there with not even 1 warning.
