Facebook Tutorials: How to Delete a Facebook Application

With all the new changes to the Facebook layout, some previously simple actions such as deleting an application became just a bit more complicated.

-Remove Facebook Application Screenshot 1-

On your Facebook homepage go to the bottom left-hand corner of the page where it says
“Applications.” When you click on it a list of all your applications will pop up. Near the top of the list you have the option to ‘Edit.’

-Remove Facebook Application Screenshot 2-

Once you click on ‘Edit’ you will be shown a list of all your applications. Next to each application are a set of options, Edit, About, and Remove. Click on the little ‘x’ next to ‘Remove’

-Remove Facebook Application Screenshot 3-

A window will appear offering you the option to remove or block an application. If you choose ‘Remove’ it will remove the applications access to your information.

-Remove Facebook Application Screenshot 4-

If you choose to ‘Block’ an application it will not appear in your profile but you will still be able to access the application and the application will continue to access to your information. If you want to remove the application entirely, just click on ‘Remove’ in the pop up window. You can also click on ‘Remove’ on the Edit page and remove an application that way.

Once you have removed an application it will no longer appear on your profile, boxes, or your application list.  It’s still a fairly simple process but it takes a couple more steps than deleting an application in the old Facebook.

  1. One problem with this that i discovered 5 min before i read this post, is if you gave your information to the application… i.e. your email, they still have the information and can still send you emails. "Are YOU Interested?" still was sending emails even after i removed the app, to fix this i had to follow the link in the email and remove the email and other information i had entered from the application.

  2. the idea of "block" not removing the application seems counter-intuitive. Thanks for sharing this, because I thought "block" meant you wouldn't get any further updates from that application.

  3. I do not get it. If you read the REMOVE window carefully, it said that you CAN NOT remove facebook application completely. It just "removes" the bookmark, and the link of the application from the wall, the box, etc. But it will be STILL in your Application page.

How come NOBODY comments on this fact (also in other pages after doing Google query)?????

  7. I think what you are doing is terrific, but I have a constructive criticism to offer. Many of the new users of Facebook are older people. You need to slow down your speech in the narration of your videos. Speaking a little slower and more clearly will go a long ways to making your videos more valuable for those who are a bit older and less computer experienced.

    Thanks for "listening".

  23. I mistakenly started a personal page and do not want it online. How do I remove it from your platform. Your instruction says I should click on "Edit Page" and then "Delete Page". I found those options in the "Fan" section but not in the personal section. I want to promote my company, not me. I want to remove it before anyone finds it. How do I do it?

I do want to start a fan page for both of my companies and possibly participate in one of your advertising options. But, at 66 I am not IT literate and I am having a hard time figuring out how to do what I want to do with your format.

Specifically, I create .pdf slideshows of our projects for marketing purposes and would like to add them to my "fans" page. However, you do not support that application. Is there a slideshow ap that is available with which I could create slideshows compatible with Your platform?

Also, we only serve a 5 county geographic area. Can we use your pay/click program for just those five counties? If yes, how does it work?

Does your platform allow us to create our own page such as we can do with our website platform?

I really want to try Facebook. But, help is woefully inadequate for the IT challenged. Can you provide additional assistance?

You need too click on account then look for application settings. THe list will show what is in that list to either edit settings as well as to remove items.

Just thought I post this comment to bring you all up to date.

I deleted the app from my Facebook account as suggested, but the profile is still active on AreYouInterested.com. I want to delete the AreYouInterested account completely, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that directly from Facebook and the Are You Interested website isn't that helpful either.
