Dave Morin Leaves Facebook

-Dave Morin Headshot-Dave Morin, who first joined Facebook in 2006 to help with the launch of the Facebook Platform, is officially leaving the company to create a new startup with the creator of Napster, Shawn Fanning. This is a huge loss for Facebook, as he was one of the primary people who helped build the developer community since the platform first launched.

Mark Zuckerberg has said on a number of instances that Facebook is looking to hire entrepreneurial individuals to come and build large products within the company and one day move on, which is exactly what Dave Morin will now be doing. Dave has also gained a lot of attention as he’s one of the primary “public facing” individuals at the company. It will be interesting to see who steps in to fill the void left by Morin.

Dave Morin previously started at Apple and serves as an advisor at Rupture and now the Denver tech startup incubator, TechStars. If you’re looking to keep up to date on the happenings of Dave you can follow his Twitter account or read his blog. Best of luck to Dave at his new startup!

  2. I just left Facebook too.. wow, what a feeling to unfriend the list and delete every photo, video and post. Maybe someday if another company is responsible with privacy, I will use social networking again. Facebook suicide! It's kinda that feeling you get when got a nice project done around the house and feel more productive.
