Facebook Apps Inspire Music Videos
Thursday, February 7th, 2008Facebook has definitely become a major part of society and now there are music videos about Facebook applications. One reader sent me the following video about the Scrabulous application and their issues with Mattel:
Wallstrip on Facebook
Monday, December 17th, 2007Today’s Wallstrip video is about Facebook. Lindsay doesn’t appear to be a big fan of the site thanks to all the ex-boyfriends that are hounding her on the site. Too bad you can’t buy stock in the insanely popular website. Howard Lindzon doesn’t think it’s such a hot site anymore. He’s “apathetic.”
Funny Facebook Parody
Monday, December 10th, 2007I just came across this funny video on YouTube related to Facebook. It’s pretty entertaining.
Is Microsoft Using Your Facebook Data to Target Ads Across the Net?
Monday, November 19th, 2007The following video explains an observation I’ve made over that past week that could prove to be the exact methodology Microsoft is using to behaviorally target ads to users across the net based on Facebook Pages usage. We’d like confirmation on this if possible, so please watch the vid, and observe your own Facebook Page usage, and watch for any corresponding ads on non-facebook websites.

Girls Gone Wild on Facebook
Thursday, November 8th, 2007Today, Fox News, the most objective news site on the planet, posted a gallery of girls that had posted drunk photos of themselves. Where did they post those photos? On Facebook of course! There are close to 5,000 photos now posted in a group called “30 Reasons Girls Should Call it A Night.” Trying to get a job a few years from now? Soon enough your boss will be checking to see if your photos show up in this group.
Close to 5,000 photos have been posted to the group so far and a few videos were also posted. If you want to find an easy way to incriminate yourself or your friends, I’d suggest getting a good picture of them after a few drinks and posting them in this group or a similar one. I knew that people enjoyed putting pictures of them after a few drinks but I didn’t realize the extent of it.
One issue with this group is that a large portion of these photos are of girls that are in high school. Parents: if your child is in high school and you want to know if they are up to no good, simply take a look at their profile because apparently they are willing to share everything with the world on there. Children: try to avoid having your parents join Facebook if you want to avoid getting in trouble! Alternatively, don’t post photos of yourself puking in a bucket. It’s probably not a good idea. Just for fun I decided to share some of the incriminating photos with you all. Check out the video below!
The Facebook News Network
Wednesday, November 7th, 2007One of my readers just sent me a pretty funny video from College Humor. It’s a video about FNN, the Facebook New Network, that is covering your personal news feed live.
OpenFaced panel: Opening Up the Social Graph
Wednesday, October 24th, 2007I’m a little behind in posting videos from the events over the past couple weeks but I will continue to post them even if the timeliness is a little off! The following video was of a panel at the Graphing Social Patterns conference a couple weeks ago. The panel included Tantek Celik (moderator), David Recordon of SixApart, Chamath Palihapitiya of Facebook, Joseph Smarr of Plaxo and Ted Grubb from Satisfaction Unlimited. The panel was a great overview on portable identities among social networks.
This panel provided a great overview. Chamath of Facebook had some memorable quotes including the concept that there is “One social graph” as well as his final statement which was that “we want as much information as humanly possible to flow across the graph and we are going to continue to build whatever it takes to get to that goal.” Not a bad goal for Facebook! If you want to know more about the panel, check out the video below:
Dan Fernandez at Graphing Social Patterns
Sunday, October 21st, 2007Popfly, a new tool by Microsoft that enables point and click application development, has been receiving a lot of buzz recently. I had the pleasure to watch Dan Fernandez of Microsoft speak at the Graphing Social Patterns conference a couple weeks ago about Popfly. He gave a pretty entertaining presentation. Now you can enjoy it as well!
