The popular iJustine who recently joined the Justin.tv team has launched a Facebook application. For those of you who don’t already know what Justin.tv is, it is a 24/7 video stream of Justin Kan. Justin and a group of his friends received funding to launch a video site which documented the launch of their startup. Since launch, the Justin.tv team has added a number of other live feeds including iJustine. While you can go view iJustine live at the Justin.tv website, you can also view the show live by adding the iJustine application. The application also features a live Meebo chatroom to discuss Justine’s happenings with other visitors. When I checked out the application the video didn’t seem to be streaming properly but I’m sure they are quickly working out all of the bugs. If you want to join the other voyeuristic fans that watch iJustine throughout the day, go grab the iJustine application.

Rocketboom Comes to Facebook
Thanks to a partnership with SplashCast Media, the immensely popular Rocketbook videoblog has been brought to Facebook. Rocketboom is a daily, three minute videoblog based out of New York City. Rocketboom covers everything from mainstream news to “quirky internet culture.” Show your support for the video cast by adding the daily show to your profile. This is just another example of new media integration with the Facebook platform. Congratulations to the Rocketboom team! If you are a Rocketboom fan then go add the Rocketboom application.
Create Your Own TV Station on Facebook
While it’s not literally your own TV channel like Kyte.tv or Ustream.tv, myTV allows you to create your own channel of videos to be displayed on your Facebook profile. The application was launched by a mysterious company called Invite Media that currently has no details about their organization on their website. This application will surely prove popular as plenty of people will want to post entertaining video clips on their profile. Also, rather than going to YouTube, you can search all YouTube videos and your friend’s videos directly from the Facebook website. At this rate, soon enough everything will be integrated directly into Facebook. This application provides a very easy to use interface as it directly overlays the classic YouTube player. If you want to have your own video playlist on your Facebook profile, go check out the myTV application.
Facebook Video Launches
A few weeks ago Facebook launched a new video service for users. They officially launched a couple days ago. This video service is no competition to YouTube or MySpace video. Instead it is simply an added value service that enables Facebook users to upload personal videos. I think that this is a pretty smart move on Facebook’s part. Rather than competing with existing services they are simply expanding their existing services for individuals to put their lives online. I’m not quite sure that this is the best place to put those videos of doing stupid things after one too many drinks though, since your future employer will be checking out your profile. Although maybe that’s the benefit of the privacy settings. The interesting thing about this application is that there is no browse feature currently. So if you want to tag videos for others to see, the only people that can see them are your friends. If they added a browse feature though they would get a larger onslaught of videos given that places like YouTube and MySpace are basically popularity contests. Do you think Facebook should open up their video feature, or keep it the way it is?
