Did you know that the average age of a Facebook user is 38 years old? That information comes from the team at Flowtown, who has compiled the latest demographic statistics about Facebook users and social network usage in general. Perhaps more surprising was that the vast majority of users are now older than 38 years old, illustrating that the company has come a long way since first launching exclusively to college students.
One other interesting statistic found in the data was that users who are 18 to 29 use social networks almost as much as they use email. Other reports have recently suggested that the younger users (younger than 18) use social networks more than email. Check out all the details in the chart below!

It would also be interesting to break this down into gender. My suspicion is that a lot of the older users would be female

Flotown should check for spelling and grammatical errors before they publish their results. It is obvious the writers are uneducated.

In my work with college students and students in high school I have found that email no longer works. Contacting them on Facebook or Twitter is the only way to get a hold of them (aside from texting). That is fascinating about the average age – I would never have guessed that.

It would also be interesting to do this by median rather than average. 1 100 year old user skews the average older. If this was a list of facebook user ages:
18
22
15
65
Then the average age is 30. But the median age is 20. I think the median is the more meaningful statistic.

In case you're interested in correcting a typo in your "Age statistics" graph above, one line currently reads:
The average the age of social networking site's users is:
To (suggested): The average age of users in popular networking sites:

This is a very misleading article. If you read it, it seams that the average age really is 38. However, the data that was compiled is only of "adult internet users." Basically they're saying the average age of people over 18, but didn't include the huge amount of people under 18 that are using these sites.

Agree with Brittany's comment – very misleading.
