Don’t Play Bejeweled Blitz If You Have Work To Do

-Bejeweled Blitz Icon-Two days ago I was taking a look at some of the top games on Facebook and stumbled across Bejeweled Blitz. I had been seeing a number of Bejeweled Blitz stories pop up in my feed but with thousands of feed stories a day, it didn’t really grab my attention. It’s a good thing I waited until recently to check it out because I just wasted hours of my life playing the game. It is seriously addictive!

The game is surprisingly challenging and while it takes a little bit of getting used to, in no time you should be clicking your way up the leaderboard. So far I’ve managed to reach 38,400 points but that’s nowhere near the 227,700 points that the player in the video below accomplished. The concept of the game is extremely simple. All you need to do is connect jewels of the same color in groups of 3,4, or 5.

The larger the groups, the larger the points. I have yet to actually come up with any strategies for the game as I hopelessly click on any combination of jewels I can find. Between the deep voice in the background yelling “excellent” every time you create a large combination of jewels and the one minute length of the game, you will keep on coming back for more.

Seriously, you’ve been warned about the addictive nature of this game. It’s not surprising that close to 5 million monthly active users are playing this game. If you really don’t have anything to do for the next couple hours, go check out Bejeweled Blitz but remember that you’ve been warned.

  3. Ha ha, I never even knew it had sound…you'd not be able to play it at work if it were on, I'd think :)

I have not seen any particular strategies other than going for four over three when you can (surprisingly easy to choose a 3 way when a four was available if your'e moving fast).

The good scores depend on luck, because you need the 2x, 3x, etc to show up early. Then if you've maxed on 4x, you can get a lot of explosions/cascades going. But you can play smoothly & quickly all you want and never go over 25K if you get no multipliers…
