Apparently I’m Unpatriotic

This morning I woke up to an interesting email:

Hi,

A Facebook user reported that your application Bush Countdown Clock violates out Terms of Use. The user reporting it selected Inappropriate or pornographic content as the violation. This person also said:

“This is anti-American and ridiculous!”

Please investigate this issue.

Thanks,
The Facebook Team

If my Bush Countdown clock is not patriotic, then I don’t want to be American. Patriotism is freedom of speech. There is nothing more patriotic than questioning and challenging the system. While I don’t want to go off into a political tirade, I wanted to share the letter with you all. Hopefully Facebook doesn’t remove the application!

  3. If you *really* want to piss them off, add eight years and create a "Hillary countdown clock".For real, though, if they ditched that app for said ToS complaint, you could get a goddamn publicity bonanza. It'd be the best thing that ever happened to this site.

  4. Well, I decided to add it as a mild protest to the protest, and I got a 404 at the final install-the-app button.

  5. Uh, well, but I do have the app running. So not sure about the 404.

  8. Wow! Minor catastrophe. The past few hundred people don't have it showing on their profile but it should work now. If you go to the application page and add it (or just click on the application) it should now install on your profile. That was nuts! Now it should be working though. Thanks so much for the heads up!

  10. While I'm a Bush supporter and may choose to find it in poor taste to my point of view, it is by no means anti-patriotic.As you mention in your post Nick, freedom of speech is one of most important and treasured rights in this country. If we are not allowed to voice our opinions and opposition we no longer have a democracy. We have a history of being able to disagree with our elected leaders and should continue to be able to do so.~Rick
