Almost 65 Million Facebook Users “Like” Things Daily

-Like Icon-Want to know how popular Facebook likes are? According to new statistics we’ve collected (and will be rolling out shortly in an upgraded version of our statistics tools) just under 65 million Facebook users are liking things on a daily basis through Facebook. This is according to self-reported statistics from Facebook which until now have not been published. While more than 20 million users interact with Facebook for iPhone, this is currently the most active interaction on Facebook.

While Facebook has yet to reveal the number of users that comment on things daily, this statistic is the closest representation we’ve found to the total number of users which log in to Facebook on a daily basis. Facebook claims that “50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day”, and given that the number of active users is rapidly approaching 500 million, that would suggest that approximately 26 percent of users are liking items once they login to Facebook each day.

As Facebook provides more insights into user activity through their self-reported application statistics, we are slowly learning more information about how users are interacting with the site. Given that the number of users “liking” items on Facebook far surpasses any other interaction on the site, it’s not surprising to see Facebook’s continued focus on the “Like”.

We will be publishing more data over the coming weeks as we prepare to launch new statistics tools!

  4. Is this really that important though? "Liking" is mindless and I really don't think amounts to much in terms of importance in human behavior online. People often "like" blindly (me included.) It's a quick dismissing of something somewhat interesting but hardly the indicator of some big deep meaningful connection to anyone or anything.

  6. Nick,

Wanna ask you a question: by "are liking things on a daily basis", do you mean

    a) there are 65 mn users who has items they like on an average day, or

    b) everyday there are 65 mn users click the "Like" button

    If it's b), then it's really impressive!
