This evening Facebook posted an update to the official Facebook Page stating that over 50,000 websites have already added the Like button and/or other social plugins since they first launched last week. It’s a significant milestone for one week as it has taken years to reach hundreds of thousands of applications. Apparently many developers and website owners are dedicated to integrating Facebook features into their own sites.
Fortunately, none of the new features that websites are implementing are related to Facebook’s controversial “Instant Personalization” service. While many people are still confused about the difference between this service and the “social plugins”, many website owners see the benefit of these new services.
It’s also likely that many users find the content shared by their friends on sites to be interesting, despite the privacy implications of the new services. It will be interesting to see if Facebook continues to find widespread success with their new social plugins for the web. If most of these websites are adding semantic data, there’s no doubt that this could have a much more significant impact in the long run.

so many pages (some of which I would not have minded sharing, if I had been given the choice) fell into the "Other" group – the one you couldn't choose to hide – that I just spent like an hour Unliking pages. I went from 110 down to 39. Hey, at least my newsfeed will be almost readable now (maybe I can stop reading status updates from live bookmarks…)

oh. my comment was not related to the New Like buttons on other sites, but all the Pages *on Facebook* that I previously Liked (or was a fan of) and all those Interests that I had in my profile.
I'm assuming you will get to that issue again soon, if you have not already done so.
I like Actors – but they fall under "Others" and I don't have the choice to put them "above the fold" or below it (or hide them, or only share with some people.)

I was wondering how this is possible:
I was searching http://www.google.fr in a separate window while logged into facebook. I switched back to facebook, clicked the 'home' link, and…
facebook wants to know if I would like to translate facebook into french.
How the **** does facebook know I am looking at a google results page in another language?
and I'm not in France, so no ip address prompt.

50,000 is still actually a little lower than I would have expected. This switch has been anticipated for a while now, but it should make sifting through content a little easier now and for some reason Like vs. Fan makes a bit more sense.
There is an interview series of social media experts discussing a wide range of current social media trends and practices, that you might find very interesting.

I think there are a lot of mixed feelings about the Facebook Like Button.
Here's a video that analyzes the new feature, along with some talk about the privacy issue:

Yes I thinks Facebook Like button feature was a great concept and introducing a new way to share information with friends n family. If you decide you no longer like something, you can always remove the connection or "unlike" the content on the original site. You're always in control of the things you connect to or like.

Mera roop mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Tere pyaar ka chhaaya nasha
Yeh samaa mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Dil aaj bahekne laga
Jaane jaan meri har nazar mein
Yeh dil mein, jigar mein basa hai ek tu
Yeh doori mitaa le, gale se lagaa le
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Jaane jaan meri har nazar mein
Yeh dil mein, jigar mein basi hai ek tu
Yeh doori mitaa le, gale se lagaa le
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Tere pyaar ka chhaaya nasha
Mera roop mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Lagta hai jaise badan mein
Ho aag baheki hui
Jalne lagi meri saansein
Dhadkan hai baheki hui
Mera dil hua hai deewana
Yun zulfon se teri udi hai khushboo
Mere paas aaja, tu mujh mein samaa ja
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Jaane jaan meri har nazar mein
Yeh dil mein, jigar mein basa hai ek tu
Yeh doori mitaa le, gale se lagaa le
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Tere pyaar ka chhaaya nasha
Yeh samaa mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Dil aaj bahekne laga
Teri nazar mere dil pe
Jaadu chalaati rahi
Kuch main chhupaata raha hoon
Kuch tu chhupaati rahi
Jaane kya hua hai jo tune chhua hai
Ke dil pe nahin hai kaabu
Mujhe pyaar kar le, tu baahon mein bhar le
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Jaane jaan meri har nazar mein
Yeh dil mein, jigar mein basi hai ek tu
Yeh doori mitaa le, gale se lagaa le
Aa keh doon tujhe I love you
Tere pyaar ka chhaaya nasha
Mera roop mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Dil aaj bahekne laga
Tere pyaar ka chhaaya nasha
Yeh samaa mahekne laga
Mujhe kya hua kya kahoon
Dil aaj bahekne laga
Jaane jaan meri har nazar mein

In my experience, the Facebook like button has immensely helped my site gain more visitors, directly from people who have liked or "shared" my SwagBucks related page.
