The massively popular Facebook game, Farmville, is now even more popular. Farmville is about to surpass 80 million monthly active users, up from 70 million active monthly users in December 2009 and 60 million active monthly users in October 2009. If you look at these stats, it seems that the game is gaining 10 million users every other month.
AllFacebook’s Application Statistics show that Farmville now has around 31 million daily active users, up from around 27 million daily active users on Feb 2, 2009. Similarly the weekly active users now stand at 54 million up from 49 million on Feb 2, 2009. These stats are even more astounding and shows that Farmville has gained 4 million daily active users in less than 2 weeks – around 35% growth.
The passion of Farmville users is also evident from other events. When Zynga launched a special fund raising campaign for Earth Quake relief in Haiti, Farmville gamers donated more than $1 million by buying virtual gifts. On the occasion of Valentine’s Day Farmville users sent more than 220 million Valentine’s Day virtual gifts in 18 hours, such is the engagement of users on Farmville.
One of the main reasons for such high active usage stats, is the many ways in which Zynga engages with its application users. Earlier this year, Zynga launched some special Super Pumpkins, that were only available to users who were a fan of Farmville’s fanpage on Facebook. This resulted in Farmville’s fanpage blasting past 20 million fans, up from 10 million in January.
Farmville’s growth has also been a case of “a rising tide raising all boats”. Facebook now has 400 million registered users, up from 350 million users back in Dec, 2009. While Facebook gained 50 million users in the past two months, Farmville managed to acquire 10 million users – a growth of around 14% for both Facebook and Farmville.
Another interesting point that becomes evident from these stats is that out of the 200 million users who log in to Facebook every day, 15 percent are playing FarmVille.

To put this into perspective, this stat means that 1.2% of the WORLD population plays Farmville on at least a monthly basis. Wow.
I accidently clicked “block this application” to FarmVille and I didn’t mean to. Now I can’t get it back. Can you help me? I DO want to play FarmVille! I love it!
Woah! What exactly is so fascinating about Farmville that so many people would play it?
Linda you should be about to go into application settings and undo the blocking.
If Farmville is blocked, you can unblock it in Account->Application Settings.
If it’s not blocked, but you hid it from your newsfeed: Pick “Top News” in your newsfeed and find “Edit Options” at the bottom of the page to get the dialog to unhide. There’s a tab there for applications.
(You get a different dialog if your newsfeed is set to “Most Recent”. Took me a week to figure this out!)
I had great respect for Farmville, until I couldn’t excess it any more. It froze up back over a week ago. As I read in the forums, more tham 10,000 other users are having the same problem. The problem is a sign pops up and says,’Out of sync with server, Please refresh’ Well you can refresh all day and nothing happens. I wrote them an email and I did want they wanted me to do, and nothing helped. Now they wrote me and say they are working on it. But what about the money and I spent on it, will I get that back. I had over 350,000 and level 38, I just added the Chinese New Year items, planted red wheat in 3/4 of my area and now their all dead. I would like to know I can restart this back up without losing all the items I had saved!
I think it would be interesting to find out a rough percentage of how many of these accounts are second, third, fourth, etc accounts of people playing the game to get ahead quickly…
i have heard of people playing with 25 plus accounts…but none the less 80 million monthly users is impressive…much higher then games like WOW etc
i think the inclusion of these new features which require friend involvement has directly spurred an increase in fake accounts solely for the purpose of supplying those items offered by the new features…. fb and zynga both win.its similar to the tactic of yoville… more friends who play equals more coins and items for 1 player.
out of the 2 million remaining yoville players i bet well over half of them are merely back up/coin earning accounts.
if there was a means of verifying this i bet the outcome would be surprising… in that it would show there is actually substantially less real players then any of the reported numbers would indicate.. less then half in all cases where there is a reward for friend involvement like this.
Have wondered if there are subliminal suggestions planted once you plow the 1st plot! What I like about it is that you don’t have to hire employees and it benefits Haiti. Also the Farmville.com gives you a place to gather the points you need to gain the ribbons. I have a lot of friends on fb, it’s hard to find all of the farmville point click-ons from your neighbors. Fun for kids too.

Feb 2, 2009!!
I DO love Farmville but what I really, really can’t abide is when you are trying to pick up gifts and bonuses and you keep getting a message saying “On no, looks like all your bits having gone missing” or some such like or saving your farm please do not close your browser. This is happening more and more.
Wow that’s enormous I hope they make it available on consoles like PS3, Xbox360 and PSP sure they’ll earn a lot and gain more audience
Thanks I have enoyed FarmVille, but now it is getting impossible to play, all that is happening as the above folk have also experienced, so unless you can restore my farm and that things will be different, I am sorry to say I can not be wasting my precious time God has given me, in the Mighty Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I now say goodbye, if you cannot return my farm to enjoy the game as a good game should be played, I am out of here. Thanks, Luvja, Susan xxx
while i was playing farmville,a notice came ’saving your setting, don’t close your browser’.but accidently i refreshed the page and then onwards all the games on facebook are blocked
