This evening the new Facebook iPhone application went live in the iTunes application directory. The new features are push notifications and contact sync. There are a number of notifications that you can receive, however you’d probably want to customize them as to avoid getting overwhelmed with constant updates. I’ve had the opportunity to play with the application for the past couple hours and I like what I’ve seen so far. Surprisingly my contacts also loaded immediately, something that the last version was having issues with.
Currently notifications can be controled for messages, wall posts, friend requests, friend confirmations, photo tags, events, and comments. If you are an extremely active Facebook user, modifying these settings is the first thing you should do. You can modify them by going to “Settings” on the iPhone and scrolling down to the Facebook application. The contact sync feature is also extremely useful as it lets you instantly add the photos of friends on to your phone.
Aside from that, there’s few additional features with the new version of the Facebook for iPhone application. You can download the application by going here. The Facebook for iPhone application is probably one of the most useful and best developed applications on the iPhone. It also is extremely popular with over 23.5 million monthly active users and over 11 million daily active users. What else can I say about the application? Nothing!

about time they got this update in.. this is a great update and i am so glad it came out. i think this is very overdue but i rather some things come late and well put together which seems to be the case here. so far the app is working as told.

Nice update but there are a few bugs when sync contacts … a few of them appeared with a different pic and url and some other person which definitely I don’t know showed up :/ …that would be the only issue in my case cause other than that everyth else is cool
I think this app sucks. It replaced my boyfriends’ picture with someone I don’t even know. As well as many other people in my contacts. I would love to uninstall it.
Anyone else notice that it pulls profile pics for people you have on your phones contact list, but not as a friend on facebook.
For example, it pulled down the profile pic for a work contact i have on my phone whom I don’t have as a friend on facebook. Even when I do a search for this person on facebook i can’t find their profile or non that match the pic and i’m searching the right name, no names are found. I figure this person’s profile is hidden because they are somewhat of a high profile individual (politician).
What concerns me… is my profile pic being synced to other peoples phones that have me on their contacts through work, but not on facebook?? And is there a setting for this?
I checked another name on my phone whom i don’t have as a friend on facebook. When I search their name on facebook, I can see their profile pic, but there is also about 20 other people with that name. My name is very unique though, as is the other person I mentioned whose picture it synced.

I originally synched my contacts and loved it. I then changed my facebook email adress and lost my synched contact photos. Is there anyway i can get them back?
A couple days a go I was able to up load pictures to face book that were but to gather with picture frame applications then the next day I could no longer up load them I have a lot of neet pictures I want to share with my friends. I uploaded through the free face book app. On my Iphone does anyone know how I can restore this so I can one again up load these neet pictures? Thanks!
how can you get back into the contact/photo syncing to change a setting? the screen popped up when i first updated and now i cant find it anywhere.
can anyone tell me, can you see groups on your iphone? i cant seem to find that either, only pages.

i didn’t have any issues with deletion on messing up the address book. i just found it weird that after enabling push notifications i started receiving push notification from someone else
i got notifications that someone i don’t even know commented on something i didn’t write… othewise i like the app.
My wife has an iphone and the contact picture sync worked on her phone but not mine. We even have the same itunes account but different facebook accounts.. any ideas??
is there an on/off in the settings on the iphone and on facebook itself??
BTW I have updated it and to no avail.
Go to the FB app and go to your friends. Upper right hand corner you will see the sync button. That will import the new pics in.
