Video Of Today’s Facebook Privacy Call

-Privacy Enhancements Icon-Earlier this morning we covered the Facebook Privacy call live. Below I’ve embedded a copy of the video of the entire call. If you have any questions regarding the new privacy settings, feel free to post them in the comments. We will be posting a more complete overview of all the new privacy settings shortly. In the meantime, if you’d like to watch a video of the full call, I’ve included it below.

hello thankss really for this good post
i need to know how to hide my friends and hot to close my profile for public

How do I remove the recent activities from my profile wall? I really hate those, and I just cant figure out how to with this!
Thank you!

Am I just blind, or did they remove the ability to control which user actions publish news stories to friends’ news feeds? It appears to be gone. Hard to see how this is supposedly giving us more control when control as powerful and important and that is being taken away from the user.

I don’t have time to watch the video right now, so I apologize. However, what the heck is up with the fact that now EVERYONE can see my friends and fan pages. I don’t even want my friends to be able to see my other friends, and now complete strangers can? NOT ok.

Also, I thought we would be able to decide which lists see statuses. Only way to do that, is to block the other lists. Seems like more work than it needs to be.

I personally think that this sucks!!! Bigtime!!! What is the use of being on someones friends list if they can block you from seeing certain post! they can use the block button or better yet just delete you from their friends list. Im having some issues with my mate using fb and cheating now I cant keep tabs on whats going on and who is posting to his profile. Being now that he can block what I see this is really useless for me! Please Im begging that you remove this feature!!!!!!!!!!! Please it makes no sense!

Cool idea. But I need to hide my friends from public as fast as I can get it. I dont care about the more simple interface if it is not possible anymore to stay private.

Thanks for providing this video. The clicky-clicky sound of typing is only slightly more than moderately distracting, but otherwise, great post, and much appreciated.

It’s the friends list changes that I really hate, have deactivated my account. Before I had a choice about who saw my friends list, now even if I disable the friends list from my profile anyone, not logged into Facebook can view all my friends. Surely for security or privacy reasons people deserve a choice in this?

I also had my account set so some of my friends couldn’t see my other friends (good for me for privacy but also for security in certain situations) now I’m not allowed to do this as they have removed the section allowing you to customise privacy of friends lists.

I know lots of people are comfortable sharing their friends lists, but for those of us who aren’t or who are concerned about security or privacy (for various reasons) taking away the mechanism to implement privacy settings regarding friends essentially means I won’t be able to use Facebook any more. From the feedback I have read elsewhere it seems lots of people share the concern about Facebook deciding your friends lists should be publicly available informatioN!

i was happily unsearchable on facebook before, well… not anymore. this BLOWS, this might just be the last straw.

These new privacy controls SUCK! Seriously.. just because I don’t want certain people being able to see most of my status updates, doesn’t mean I want to block them from writing on my wall, viewing and photos or videos I post etc. Why are they clumping up such different actions/options together as one blockable group? That is such crap. The controls before were far more customizable.

I figured out a way around the friends thing. If you go to your profile and click on the pencil at the top right corner of your friends, you’ll have a box to uncheck to show friends on profile. Now that will block your friends from your friends, and from public search. Not just from public search. So it’s not a fix for everyone, but since I blocked my friends even from my friends, it works for me.

As for April, if you have to stalk your boyfriend on facebook, you’re in an unhealthy relationship. Please break up with him and seek help.

Yes, I plan to deactivate my account right now. If I cannot have privacy in terms of my Friends List, then I am not interested in Facebook anymore!

Facebook is full of it.. We CAN NO LONGER CONTROL all of our privacy. I used to not appear in my friends friends list. Now I do. Though I chose not to be searchable, anyone (I might not want to find me, and EX for example) by simply searching someone in my family or a friend and looking at their friend list. This was not the case before, me restricting being “searched” is bogus.

i really love having a friend in face book or be a user

Trellis, thanks for the tip.

Its weird because i still have some friends who can hide their friend list from me. Is it maybe possible that if you hided your friends from someone before the privacy changes, it will also stay after the new privacy changes?

With this privacy move Facebook showed its real face.

Let’s wait for the competition to offer a better alternative.

I would not be surprised if the two enemies Microsoft and Google partnered up to fight Facebook. I hope they will.

Surely you realise that we don’t all want our friends to be visible to each other. For instance, I have friends who don’t particularly like each other. More importantly, I have friends who are well known and don’t want to be bothered by my other friends. Stop telling us you’re giving us more control over privacy when clearly you aren’t. You are already losing clients over these stupid decisions.

really this is rediculos, facebook talk about privacy n now they r making such bullshit changes sum people r free to share ther frnds but sum may not 4 sum various purpous Facebook have 2 take quick action if not many others will leave FACEBOOK soon like me,i know no one going to look at my post as i m n odinary man but this is very important note plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz take action hope 4 gud result
