All of a sudden my recent activity is showing on my page, I do not like this, under the old settings I could and did stop this, now I can not find how to stop my recent activity from appearing on my page, Please let me decide if I want recent activity shown or not.

I have the new settings. You can no longer control who sees your friends or pages. Very irritating.

I think it is absolutely shocking that facebook just changes options and removes any possibility to limit visibility in searches so that everyone now can see full name, location and friends list. I do not want this information to be shared with everyone. I want only my friends to see who else I am friends with and not the entire world

Ironically, I’ve just experienced by far the worst privacy breach I’ve ever experienced with Facebook. During the past week, at least three comments of mine have ended up attached to posts other than, nowhere near, and (here’s the best part) by different people than the ones I intended. Evidently, as usual, Facebook has pushed a buggy update live to millions of users without adequate testing, perhaps something to do with their ballyhooed new privacy management!

I had set my son to ‘only friends’ for everything and now his school network along with his photo is available for any weirdo to find! Thanks facebook! All the pages we are fans of were showing, info, wall you name it! What a load of rubbish… we don’t really get to choose our privacy at all!

Well I think a phone call to the governmants privacy commissionor will be made tomorrow. I beleive Fb has breached my privacy by allowing me the option to not allow recent activity to appear on my wall and then taking that option away from me with out my say so. I should decide what is private to me. I encourage everyone who has a privacy commission or the equivelent in your juristriction to file a complannit against Facebook.

The new settings are completely disgusting, there was nothing wrong with the old ones at all. I hope they change them back… it’s a lost cause.

What is up with the recent activity setting?!?! This feature was the one good thing about facebook’s “privacy” and now it is nowhere to be seen!!! Bring it back!

You can control your friends list (or it seems so), just go to the box where your friends list is on your profile, click the pencil to edit, and uncheck the box that says “Show my friends on my profile”. The only negative is that your friends can’t see your list, but it is better than having your friends list made public.

Also, you can replace your profile pic with a small, less detailed icon sized picture, and while it can then be used to see if you are the ‘right person’, it really wouldn’t show much to the world.

i think we all should deactivate our profiles for a while so that might show our reaction to these new s.. privacy settings

Real “Privacy Settings” DO NOT disclose MORE information you previously set as private. Facebook is choosing to force or dupe members into inadvertently sharing more information than they chose to in the past. The transition tool is confusing - and I believe that was done intentionally. Facebook changed defaults to share info and activities with Everyone, to give apps access to all your info, to share your photo/friends list/groups to anyone who searches for you on FB. This is VERY BAD!!! It’s a huge boon to stalkers, child abusers, overbearing marketers, criminals, nosey acquaintances, crazy ex’s or anyone trying to find info about you for whatever reason. If FB was truly working to improve privacy controls, they would have defaulted to MORE privacy rather than REMOVING privacy settings previously possible and previously set. This is 10% about improving privacy controls, 90% about increasing access to FB users’ information to boost FB’s position in the marketplace. DISGRACEFUL!!! Most people won’t even realize that their info and status updates are now publicly viewable, indexed by search engines, and permanently viewable.

these new settings ARE AWFUL! not private at all, why didn’t they just keep the old ones..they were perfect! I had to go back in and change so people that weren’t my friend couldn’t view all my profile pics, there was no warning of this.
And I WANT my friends to be able to see how many friends I have and who they are and now they can’t,it doesn’t show up on my list I have clicked on the pencil icon and it is set to “show friends list” and they still can’t see it and there is not setting to change this in the privacy section

also had it set so certain people could not see my status updates and suddenly a person on that list who I verified was still on the list of people who would not see SUDDENLY COMMENTED on my status!! again the new privacy updates are completely awful!

Likewise with me, my friend list has dissappeared from all my friends and it cannot be restored by clicking the pencil icon beside friends on my profile…….

I have had no problem with Face Book till today…I can get onto the inter net but not Facae Book…what is going on? I do not understand what the problem is? I am getting tired of programs who control what I do on here….fix it or stop with the Face Book changes…tired of it.

I really hope they change the new settings because i hate the fact that i cant restrict people from adding me. I always had my account blocked so that no one can add me.. but now the only options that are there is if i let Everyone add me or if i let friends of friends add me..

and 17 of my friends de-activated their account because they couldn’t get their account sorted out and had random people messaging them. and saving their pics and using it for other purposes!

I agree everyone is talking about this, i am furious, i go to my friends wall or my private group wall and only to find that everything i have written has been placed onto the live feed?? there is no way to stop this. if i slect friends only it still posts to the live feed…i am deleting facebook, afterall we all managed perfectly well without it before, so my life wont lose any quality.. as usual with comapnies liek these they start out small then as they grow too large they dont invest in dedicated help or provide the real time ability to gain solutions, therefore they believe in being a dictatorship and forget about democracy and the neesd of its users.. they are faceless and should be renamed as such.. i want to know what they think the word privacy means as this is not privacy in the true definaition of the word but actually serves facebook ore as they seek to get more lucrative offers from google etc

there are only 2 options on who can add you as their friend — “friends of friends” and “everybody”.. even if you change your settings on who can search and add you.. people who see your wall posts can still click on you and add you! i need the old settings back… oh and recent activity showing… I HATE IT! I HATE IT! With the old settings I could hide my friends list when people search for me and it would only show mutual friends, that option isn’t here anymore.

facebook gets worse every time they try to “upgrade” it .

i’m so confused… i have it set so all of my friends can see and post to my wall, but for some reason only the specific friends that i allow to see my statuses and links can even see my wall AT ALL. also, i want my friends to show up on my profile and i have it checked, but when i preview my profile as someone else, my friends aren’t showing up.

i had my profile picture controlled only to friends..n after the new settings…even tough its still controlled to friends only..everyone on fb can see….i want our privacy back

I just spent 2 1/2 hrs fixing this horrible situation from FB!
I thought it was going to improve privacy yet it only made things worse. I cleaned up FB mess and they should be held responsible for it. Bring back the old setting or at least give us your “users” the right to chose!

I just noticed the new settings have changed so I got someone who isn’t my friend to search me and they had my email address and all other private information blazed all over the screen. I want my friends hidden when people search me, the way they used to be, to protect their privacy, too, but thanks to the new privacy settings, nothing is f**king private at all.

How do we contact people at facebook? This privacy setting isn’t very “private”.

The new privacy settings are truly disgusting. I’m just not sure how to go about filing a complaint– if anyone can help me on this please. FB suddenly has taken away my privacy rights without informing of the move. Anyway, I deactivated my account this morning.

Anyone who does a search for me now can see my pages, my interview, and all my friends. I work in a sensitive area with dangerous people and I REALLY don’t want this information visible. I cannot change it. If anything happens to any of them I will be suing facebook immediately. I may have to deactivate my account if they don’t sort this quickly. What a massive error on their part.

Recent Activities - I don’t want everyone knowing I just wrote on someones page or like someones status. This would probably make people in my friends list wonder why I don’t write them or like their stuff and it’s not that serious. It’s problematic if you ask me, causing discord with friends and family I just haven’t had the time to contact right away, whereas some of my other friends I need to talk to on a daily bases. I really don’t like that feature. There should be a option to keep it or remove it. The faster this is resolved the better. Thanks!

While I appreciate them trying to give us “more” control - did they really have to take away some of the features we had to do it?? I do not want any “freinds of friends” to be able to add me - we had the option to control that before, is it coming back?????

I’m very angry with the privacy changes. Before I was able to set my privacy so that I would never show up on a search. If I want to add someone I find them. Now I’m getting requests from people I do not want to add. It was very important to me that I only exist to the people I choose. Thanks facebook. Now I have to downright deny people and then run into them all over the place. Sorry I’m not someone who wants 650 friends and have everyone see my family photos etc. This has destroyed facebook for me. Now the setting will only allow me to choose between being visible to everyone or friends of friends, totally useless.

Facebook JACKED up the privacy settings for the wall, so now EVERYONE on your lists will know when you like someone’s status, when you comment on someone’s photo, etc…

I’ve emailed Facebook several times demanding an explanation or how to fix this issue, and no one has replied - not even a generic reply that they received my message.

In my last few messages to facebook I threatened to contact CNN, MSNBC, etc.. to inform the major news outlets of this problem, and now I’ve started contacting sites like CNN.

But I’m only one person - so please, EVERYONE, just find a “contact us” part on a news site, and submit your message as a news tip about how the whole status updates is ruining your privacy.

I can see some others personal info, photos and walls.

Even if I am not a friend!!!

I can still click on photos, walls and info and see it!!

I woke up this morning to a mile long of recent activity publishing everything including the that I was now friends with people I became friends with 3 years ago when I first became a FB member.

They have taken our Privacy away! Makes me not want to be on there or comment. I have noticed a decrease in activity on the news feed, which that change is another issue with in itself.

I hope that FB gets the point and fixes it. I have emailed them too. Why do they keep changing things that were working.

What people do not realize is although YOU may have your settings maxed to the full Privacy that they offer, if your activity is on your wall and Joe Smoe sees you commented on someones posting or status update that HE IS NOT FRIENDS WITH and they do not have their privacy settings in tact, then Joe Smoe can be nosey, click on that recent activity link and can see what you just wrote dispite your privacy settings!!! NOT VERY PRIVATE!!!!!

My biggest one is the recent activity crap. I dislike it with a passion, and I love how I was able to disable it on the old facebook. This is crap and needs to be fixed.

I was practically all over facebook trying to fix the recent activity thing before I confided in my friend Google, to please try and help me out. Then I found this thread.

Makes sense now, But a fix is still necessary. I can’t deal with people knowing EVERYthing i do. Twitter sounds like a better social website to be on now.. Hmm..

I’ve been able to get everything back the way it should be as far as privacy on my FB page except for one thing that nobody inclouding FB has an answer for:

My own recent activity showing as messy little blurbs all over my wall. Everytime I “like” another’s comment or send an app,etc, etc…it leaves those little recent activity notes all over my wall. Before the new privacy settings we had ann option to keep that from happening…that option is no longer available to us as far as I can tell. Many are complaining about the same thing and I am very surprised that FB hasn’t addressed this to the public one way or the other as to why.

Does anyone know why all of the sudden my friends cannot see any comments on my wall. The tabe that says WALL is missing when my friends view my page. Not sure what I did. I can see my wall. Hmmmmm…

This is the total opposite of privacy!! Why does the whole world need to know who’s page i commented on recently? Its none of anyones business who i talk to or whos pictures i commented on! This is super lame and needs to be fixed before i wind up deleting my account!

Facebook has become USER UNFRIENDLY TO ME !!

Facebook has rapidly become a pile of shite, every tiny activity is recorded and published to the news feed, including who said what to whom and who posted whatever on who elses wall etc etc…

In the past you could choose whether this kind of information was made public, now you cannot. In addition it should be noted that even if you remove the note of the “activity” from your own wall, it will STILL remain visible on the news feeds regardless. Clearly this is a major invasion of privacy.

I barely post on facebook now, and am considering closing my account for good, and you should be aware many others feel exactly the same way:
