Over the weekend I noticed a small tweak to Facebook’s Notes application for blog feeds that are automatically imported: images are now included in the feed stories. It’s a small upgrade and it may have been added more than a week ago, however this weekend was the first time that I noticed it. Previously, all automatically imported blog posts did not get an image included in the post.
The Facebook Notes application has received few upgrades over the past few years which has resulted in a number of competing applications that were built by third-part developers. While Facebook Page administrators and users in general have wanted to import their blogs to their profiles and Pages, Facebook’s Notes application has provided the bare minimum feature set. Just like other applications which automatically import feeds, the Notes application also receives a relatively low priority in terms of showing up in a user’s friends’ news feeds.
Despite the relatively basic feature set, the fact that images now show up with all newly imported notes by default is extremely useful. Images serve as an excellent call to action for any visitor to a user’s profile or to a Facebook Page. Yes, it’s a minor upgrade but I would bet that this new feature will increase the level of interaction with automatically imported notes. For those of you who are less aware of Facebook’s Notes application, you can choose to import one RSS feed which is then posted to your profile or Facebook Page.
You can edit which feed is imported by visiting the following Page.

Thanks for the update. This was about the only reason why I used networkedblogs over notes. Now that notes supports images I’m wondering if I should switch back to notes being that notes is a native Facebook app.
Your thoughts?
Hey Nick, I guess that update has been there for almost a month now. I have been saying that for over two weeks.
I just noticed this new feature yesterday. Although it may seem like an insignificant change to most people I think it’s HUGE.
I use cool photos in my posts all the time, I think it gives people another reason to click the post.
This is great - thanks for the tip. I’ve been using Ping.fm Facebook App, which is nice because it links back to my site. But Notes includes images and keeps reader on Facebook, which is probably more user friendly after all.
I have a photo blog and this solves what I’ve been trying to accomplish.
One question… I got it set up on my profile’s notes but can’t figure out how to get a feed into my Page?
Nevermind I found it. Goto notes settings.
The addition of images in the Wall post is a welcome addition. What I’m waiting for is for notes to include embedded videos from the blog posts. I’m not asking that a thumbnail be created for the Wall post but rather, that the embedded video appear in the Facebook Note itself.
Anyone know of a way to achieve this?
It’s not just embedded video. I believe any script gets stripped from the post before it appears in the Notes. Videos are likely the most common, but Google’s script for embedding Google-Books also gets stripped.
I have my feed going into my Facebook fan page, but images don’t show up…only the graphic for my fan page shows up. What gives? Any thoughts?
Thanks Nick, where do go to download the notes application?
