This afternoon, Facebook posted that the new developer terms, as discussed at the Palo Alto Developer Garage at Facebook Headquarters last month, will go into effect starting December 16th. The new terms, which are the standards originally set forth in through the Application Verification Program, are being integrated intro the new Developer Priciples and Policies and the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Facebook has gone ahead and highlighted the changes and clarifications.

Toys”R”Us Becomes Fastest Growing Brand On Facebook

Toys-r-Us Logo

Growing between 40,000 and 95,000 fans a day over the past week, Toys”R”Us has become the fastest growing brand on Facebook. The company, which recently released its “Big Book” catalog of toys on its Facebook Page, has been experiencing tremendous growth in the past few days. While we don’t know the exact reason for the growth (we’d assume it’s the result of an ad campaign), there are a number of features within the company’s Facebook Page which drives new fans.

Zynga Announces 100 Million Monthly Unique Visitors

Zynga Logo

Last week we wrote about Zynga surpassing the 200 million monthly active users milestone, but how many of those users are unique? Today the company is sharing that they have over 100 million unique users each month. While Zynga also has games on the iPhone, it would be safe to say that almost one-third of Facebook users are playing Zynga games each month. 66 million users have played Farmville in the past month, making up a significant portion of Zynga’s traffic.

How To Send Facebook Page Updates

Send Page Update

As you may have noticed over the weekend, there is no longer an action link to send an update to your Facebook Page fans directly on the sidebar. Instead, you’ll now need to go through an extra click to get updates sent. While many Page administrators don’t take advantage of updates, the click through rate on updates has increased dramatically since the new Facebook inbox launched. We highly recommend Page administrators take advantage of this increased visibility.

This Week In Facebook: November 23, 2009

This Week In Facebook

This week has been a relatively active week for Facebook related news although there haven’t been any large announcements from the company. In addition to finding out that the company’s common shares are trading at a price which values the company at over $11 billion, we learned about SocialMedia being acquired by AdKnowledge. There were many more stories as well, all of which are highlighted in “This Week In Facebook”.

Facebook Sends Cease And Desist To USocial

USocial Logo

USocial, a company which sells Facebook friends and fans, has received a cease and desist from Facebook for violating the company’s terms of service. The BBC claims that the issue at hand is that the company is “letting people profit from their profile”, which is strictly forbidden within Facebook’s terms. We’ve reached out to Facebook for clarification on the issue, to see if there were any issues with the company selling fans. In early October we highlighted the growth in the pay per fan business model, and since then we’ve heard an increasing amount of buzz about the space.

3 Facebook Stories We Didn’t Cover Yesterday

3

On any given day we receive 5 to 50 stories to post on AllFacebook, however there’s no way for us to currently cover everything that goes on. Determining which stories to publish is part art and part science, however that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of all the things going on related to Facebook. That’s why we’ve decided to post occasional updates on the stories that we couldn’t get to the day before. Today we have 3 stories from yesterday that you should be aware of.

Google Chrome OS Is What Facebook Wanted To Be

Chrome Icon

This afternoon I’ve been watching the Google OS announcement and all I can say is that this is what Mark Zuckerberg first announced when they released Platform, two and a half years ago. Many assumed that the acquisition of Parakey was a step toward truly building the web operating system of the future. Blake Ross, the developer of Firefox and Parakey, has been working on Facebook Lite though. Joe Hewitt, the other Parakey developer, had been working on the Facebook iPhone application until recently. So where is Facebook OS?

Zynga Rocketing Past 200 Million Users

Zynga Logo

Just one month ago at Web 2.0 Summit, Mark Pincus, the CEO of Zynga, told the audience that the company had surpassed 150 monthly active users. One month later, the company’s user base has grown by a third, rocketing it past 200 million users. Monthly active users are a relatively broad metric when analyzing a company though, as daily active users are a more effective metric for measuring a company’s ability to monetize.
