A few months ago, the team at JESS3, led by Jesse Thomas, developed the original Facebook monster, an image which depicts Facebook fending off little Twitter birds. In the latest version of the Facebook monster design, there is still a Twitter bird, but only one, and it’s much less a part of the image than the previous iteration. While you can interpret what you’d like to from the image, I’d say that it means the Facebook versus Twitter battle is not as significant as it once was.

The Facebook Monster Strikes Again!
Facebook’s Link Sharing Feature Stops Working
This morning I started getting emails that users sharing links on Facebook were no longer seeing images and descriptions for the pages they were linking to. By the afternoon I started having a similar problem. Now I can’t seem to post articles on my page or profile with an article title, description, and image also included. Instead, it shows up as it does in the image to right.

How To Get Thousands Of Facebook Fans With A Single Video
As many of our readers have noticed over the past few weeks, Facebook videos now include a feature which lets you become a fan of a Facebook Page while watching the video. The power of this feature cannot be understated as a video which includes a call to action, is much more valuable than a video by itself. If you want to drive new fans to your Facebook Page, this feature combined with high quality content is priceless.

The 5 Fastest Growing Brands On Facebook For Black Friday
Black Friday is known for its ability to attract the most fanatic shoppers, some of which have even been trampled to death by the massive crowds. This year there were fortunately no deaths, however many consumers logged on to Facebook on Friday to become a fan of some of their favorite brands. While a rapid growth in fans is not necessarily a sign of how well a company will perform for the holidays, it may provide a bit of insight into what’s popular.

Facebook Draws A Line In The Sand For Third Party Ad Networks
If you had any question as to those Facebook ad networks that developers can run on their applications, question no longer. Yesterday evening Facebook posted an update with those ad networks which are safe to run and those that aren’t, in turn singling out four ad networks: Gambit, Social Hour, SocialReach, and Tatto Media. We’ve written extensively about most of these networks, however the latest added to the group is Gambit, something we had been hearing for the past couple weeks.

New Facebook Security Flaw Lets Users Tag People They Aren’t Friends With (Updated)
Want a really great Facebook spam technique? This morning a Facebook user added me as a friend and then tagged me in a post without me approving their friendship request. The post was then displayed on my wall from a Facebook Page that user was administering. I’ve heard of similar issues in the past with tagging users in notes, however this is the first time that I’ve seen someone tag a user in a status update and have it displayed on their wall.

Signs Point Toward Facebook’s IPO, Although The Company Denies It
Yesterday afternoon, the Wall Street Journal wrote that Facebook had restructured their share structure to give existing shareholders greater voting rights. It’s a step most companies take prior to going public, but when asked about the company’s intentions, Facebook stated that they have “no plans” to go public “at this time”. Despite their supposed lack of plans, chatter is increasing about the company’s desire to have a public offering, resulting in an dramatic increase in price of privately traded shares.

Stream Changes Actually Going Live Today
Two weeks ago I prematurely announced that the Facebook stream changes were going live for users and developers. While the original roadmap had an earlier date, the changes are finally going live tonight. What does that mean for developers? Not much, since most developers have most likely made the necessary adjustments to their stream stories. For users however, it will mean a different layout for stream stories (as pictured below).
