If you had any doubt that the social gaming space has become a big business, this should make things clear. The cards will now be available at more than 150,000 retail locations and can be used to purchase in-game currency on Mobsters and Sorority Life, two of Playdom’s largest games.

New Facebook Game Lets You Take On Al-Qaeda Terrorists

An interesting take on the Mob Wars genre is a new game which lets you battle Al-Qaeda terrorists. The game, called “Al-Qaeda Wars“, was developed by Rage on Gaming, a company dedicated to making what appears to be relatively violent games. The company’s website includes a number of demo clips. One is of a terrorist blowing up the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the other is simply a man opening a package and getting shot in the head.

Facebook Glitch Shows Users Attend “Vidyartha College”

There’s a good chance that you’ve never even heard of the college that’s based in Sri Lanka, however numerous Facebook users are reporting that their friends are being affiliated with the school. This isn’t the first time that Facebook has had a glitch like this. Previously, users have been accidentally affiliated with Harvard University even though they never set it.

Using the translations application, Facebook was able to have the site translated into more than 65 languages in a matter of months. Facebook was translated into Spanish in two weeks, and then French followed next in under 24 hours.

Online Retailers Still Pick Facebook Over Twitter

According to a new report that was republished on eMarketer, 86 percent of online retailers have Facebook Pages whereas only 65 percent of them have Twitter accounts. However, an additional 19 percent plan on using Twitter in the next year and an additional 10 percent plan on creating a Facebook Page in the same time period. It’s an interesting report, however this is just a sampling of online retailers, or companies who are already technically savvy.

Facebook Becomes Television Thanks To UStream

What really makes television what it is? Is it the fact that it’s sitting in some dedicated space in your living room? Or is it the fact that it’s probably one of the larger monitors in your apartment or house? Maybe it’s not connected to a computer, and that’s what makes it a television (although they’ll all soon be computers). Does It Really Matter How Many Fans You Have?

Last week we finished up the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program and while some people may or may not have reached the 3,000 fan target, the real question is: does the number of fans really matter? Last night I was watching a video of Seth Godin where he says “it’s worthless to have lots and lots of friends on Facebook.” With so many people selling the importance of having fans, followers, and friends though, how could Seth Godin, a thought leader in marketing, make such an assertion?
