How To Create Your First Facebook Page Advertisement

Design Page Advertisement

This is Day 12 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.
So you’ve listened to my sales pitch about Facebook advertising and you’ve taken the time to define your company’s target market. Hopefully this wasn’t the first time that you’ve defined your target market, otherwise you are in serious trouble So the first thing you want to do is head over to the ads creation page. If you haven’t already created your page then you most definitely want to have it set up by now since we will be integrating our page with our ad. For the purpose of this article, I’ll go ahead and set up an advertisement for the AllFacebook.com page.

Zong Becomes First Mobile Payment Provider To Test Integration With Facebook Credits

Payment Method Icon

While much of the U.S. uses credit cards to make online purchases, many other countries still don’t have easy services for making online transactions. Mobile transactions are clearly a step in that direction. The first company to test mobile payments with Facebook is Zong, as spotted by Erin McCune earlier yesterday. Facebook has also confirmed that they are currently working with developers to test a variety of payment integrations.

Facebook Switching Ad Ratings From “Thumbs Up” To “Like”

Feedback Replaced Icon

Facebook will be pushing out a minor change tonight for ad feedback. Rather than clicking on the thumbs up and thumbs down icons, Facebook will be replacing the feedback systems to “like” or “X” according to a Facebook representative that we spoke with. Other subtle changes to the site tonight include the expansion of the site’s header to be the full width of the screen. While both are subtle changes, I’ve already received a number of emails from users who’ve seen the changes go into effect.

Despite Passing On iLike, Facebook Appears Still Interested In Music

Zuckerberg Spotify

Just last week we wrote about the MySpace acquisition of iLike and this week it appears that some form of agreement between Facebook and Spotify is in the works according to Techcrunch. The rumor is based on a status update by Mark Zuckerberg in which he simply stated “Spotify is so good.” While Mark may be a victim to the classic “shiny object syndrome” found in much of Silicon Valley, he probably wouldn’t have written the update had something not been in the works.

The Key To Success With Facebook Ads: Effectively Define Your Target Market

Target Market Icon

This is Day 11 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.
So now that I’ve made the sales pitch to you for using Facebook advertising, let’s take a look at what it takes to get a campaign set up. The most important thing to do first is to define your target market. What’s the demographic information of your target market? What’s the average day for your target market like? Your job as an advertiser is to connect with the customer on an emotional level as quick as possible. The only way you’ll be able to do that is to connect with them.

David Recordon Leaves Six Apart, Joins Facebook

David Recordon Headshot

After working closely with Facebook over the past few months, David Recordon has left Six Apart to join the fast growing social platform with the title “Senior Open Programs Manager”. While the title may be a bit ambiguous, it’s clear that he’ll be working with Luke Shepard and others to help integrate open standards into Facebook. Earlier this year when I spoke with Recordon, he appeared pretty excited about Facebook’s continued opening of the platform.

Submit Your Social Media Marketing Programs To The Social Times 25!

Social Times 25 Small

As the deadline for this year’s Social Times 25 came to a close last week, I received a lot of submissions. Many companies have also asked for an extra few days. Given that we’ve been busy rolling out other projects, I’ve decided to extend the deadline by one week (this Thursday, August 27th). Also, we’ve decided to allow nominations from those individuals who don’t work at any marketing firms but have seen social media marketing programs that illustrate excellence.

4 Reasons You Should Buy Facebook Advertising

Facebook Advertising Icon

This is Day 10 of the 30 Days to 3,000 Fans program. You can learn more about the program here.
While I wish Facebook Pages would start with one person and just grow to thousands of users, it’s simply not that easy. Building a fan base requires a fair amount of work and a small amount of cash. The cash is being used to purchase Facebook advertisements that will drive you new fans. If you want to approximate how much it costs for each new fan, you can essentially estimate the cost at $0.50 per fan when using Facebook advertisements. While you can rely on your natural branding ability, most companies aren’t as popular as Oprah and need to invest in expanding their reach.

Facebook Surpasses 1,000 Employees

Facebook Hiring Icon

According to a Bloomberg article this morning, Facebook has at least 1,000 employees as part of its workforce now. In an interview with Bloomberg, Mark Zuckerberg explains that since the company hasn’t “made it” yet, he would prefer that the company’s “building feel much more like a very large garage.” Perhaps after the company has launched a payment platform and extended Facebook Ads to the rest of the web they can live a lavish lifestyle.
