Facebook Emphasizes Insights To Page Admins

Do you know how to track all of the visitors and new fans to your Facebook Page? If you didn’t you aren’t alone. Up until recently, Page insights were not obvious to Page admins and as a result many were finding it difficult to keep track of who was coming to their page. Enter the new insights box which emphasizes the quality of newly published items and how many people have engaged with your page.

The feature started showing up yesterday evening and while it doesn’t appear to work perfectly (I sometimes get 0 for “Post Quality” and 0 for “Interactions This Week”), it should make Page administrators more aware of the insights product. I regularly get people reaching out to me to ask how to track users that are visiting their page as they are completely unaware of the Insights page. That’s because the link to Page insights was previously buried.

The insights are relatively useful for people looking to keep track of where their fans are coming from but unfortunately there are still no conversion metrics for Facebook Ads. I’ve written about the need to track conversions as it would boost ad spend across the site on a number of instances. Facebook has at least improved their ads to enable users to become fans when viewing an ad which has most definitely improved overall conversion rates.

Hopefully with this new emphasis on Page Insights we will begin to see more features rolled out that help users improve conversion tracking. What features would you like to see within Page Insights?

measuring and tracking conversions is necessary.

Branding impressions vs lead generation

is something I am exploring in my industry and at a conference in NYC called leadsCon. http://tinyurl.com/leadsConNy I welcome any thoughts and expert opinions as I am doing research: 650-283-8008

I’ve been looking on the pages I administer and I can’t find where to go to for the insights. Can you help? Thanks.

i keep seeing 0 for ‘Post Quality’ as well as interactions all week, is this something that automatically fixes it self or is there anything i can do from my end?

I have two pages; both show ‘0′ for post quality and ‘0′ for interactions, yet when I click on ‘See All’, I have 58 Interactions This Week, 16 Likes, 34 Comments, and 8 Wall Posts. With this info, and over 4,400 fans, I still get the error message that ‘You do not have enough recent interactions to display geographic data. You can generate interactions by publishing more posts to your fans.’ This worked before the new feature came out.. and of course, there’s no way to contact Facebook directly..

I’m not finding much value out of it, for the small pages I run (300-500 fans). It’s almost demeaning, to see a score of 1. Maybe eventually it will scale better.

I have had a post quality of 0 since this changed over, yet I have higher than average interaction on my page. Is there a way to fix this?

The site I administer was showing a zero quality score until yesterday, but remember that the value is calculated on a rolling seven day basis. We had a bunch of new fans join this week and lots of interation. This morning the score was 102.4 with 5-stars, eight hours later the score is up to 126.9 - Definately a spike, don’t think we’ll be able to keep this up. I agree that I’d like to see guidance on realistic scores over time and how to interpret them.

Is anyone else having problems with Insights? We started our page about a week ago, and the entire time Insights has said we have 2 interactions. I know for sure we have many, many more. I’d love to do an ad campaign, but only if I can trust the metrics tool. It seems to be tracking our fan base well, but not interactions, which I think is just as important.
