More than 10 years ago I saw Michael Jackson in concert in the Netherlands. I went 2 days. First day I went by myself y the second day with my brother.

We actually had Michael Jackson dress up day at school. Everyone broke out their glove and I even got a curl for the occasion. Several of my classmates just wore attire like his every day. I began to flip through my yearbook and began to cry over the great memories of Michael Jackson and how he impacted my entire High School.

I have some more to say, the phone rang and I was interrupted. I graduated in the 80’s. One of my close High School Classmated called yesterday and we cried and remembered Michael Jackson. Um, Michael absolutely did NOT write that letter. It’s written in broken English. He may have only had a high school education, but I’ve read letters he’s penned (one of them was the People magazine cover story in 1987; you can also find copies of it on ebay), and I can tell you the guy had a nice command of the English language.

What person who speaks American English would say “Would you prefer it when I was dead? Or when I had never existed?” Who says “I sit in an edge”? What the heck does “hammer me at the cross” mean? And what person who writes American English would spell defenseless in the British way, with a letter c (’defenceless’)? Come ON.

Your best-case scenario is that once upon a time, Michael wrote a letter or gave an interview (this does bear slight resemblance to his early ’90s interview with Oprah). And maybe that letter or interview was then translated into another language, which was then translated again, and so on, and finally was translated back into English, and the result is this grammatical oddity. I’ve also seen this letter in French on a fan site, so this may be the case. But is this letter truly Michael Jackson? Not in the least.
