Facebook To Increase Limit on Album Uploads

-Facebook Photos Icon-For those of you who use Facebook albums regularly, you will be happy to learn that Facebook’s 60 photo album limit is being increased. A number of users have been reporting the increase and have sent me photos of albums with hundreds of photos in them. The one pictured below have 175 photos in the Facebook album. There’s no word on how large on an increase it is, or if Facebook has removed the limit all together.

I’ve tried uploading albums myself with more than 30 photos but unfortunately I haven’t been able to. The 60 photo limit previously implemented for Facebook albums was proving to be an annoying barrier when sharing personal experiences. Given that there was no limit on the number of albums that users could have, it seemed to be somewhat of a pointless limitation.

As far as we can tell, Facebook is slowly rolling out the ability to upload more photos to albums. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that the service has been so spotty over the past week. Whatever the reason is, there’s no doubt that people will be uploading many more pictures as the album limitations are removed.

Facebook is currently the largest photo site in the world, dwarfing the competition with the total number of photos. The site receives over 800 million photos to their site each month. Despite there being many limiting features of the photos application (including the inability to view high resolution images), it continues to thrive, suggesting that being able to share and tag users in photos is more important feature for a photo sharing site.

Hooray! Finally they’re rethinking the album limits. My hope is that the photo limit is gone completely, as opposed to just being changed to a very large number.

It would be interesting to be able to merge old albums into one now that the limit has been increased.

I’ve noticed that few users had albums with 80-90 pictures a while ago (few weeke, I think), but stil haven’t got a clue how are this rules applied.

Thank God 60 is not enough! I made 3 albums for ASW in Vegas.

This step was probably inevitable concerning the interaction of iphoto and facebook coming up next week.
Hopefully a better resolution of the uploaded pics will follow soon.

about 3 weeks ago i was able to upload around 150 pictures to an album (i’m from the UK). plus i noticed a couple of weeks before that, that some people added 100+ photo albums.

there is still a limit. i think its 200 but i cant be certain. i cant access facebook at work so i cant check!

When, oh when, will Facebook start upgrading their photo capabilities beyond album sizes. Why can’t I edit photos after I’ve uploaded them?

When will they have better resolution?

I had noticed before that some people were able to get more than 60 photos. I suspect they did this by editing albums and moving a bunch of pictures at once into another album. HOWEVER, I was not able to do this with any album that already had 60 pictures. My thesis was that if you had 58 pics, you could move a bunch of pics into that album at once and get above 60, but I haven’t tried it. Happily, it sounds like I won’t have to.

@Nicolas–you can “edit album” and from there click on the drop-down and say “move to” . . . that lets you move a bunch of pictures at once, anyway.

I’ve been able to upload 200 photos in an album for some time now, its great!
I’m note exactly sure why… perhaps because I have a mac or perhaps I run a facebook page which has no limits for photo uploads?

Is there a certain order to this album increase, or it is by random users? From reading a few other posts it sounds like some users are able to upload 200 photos but some are not, even if they are using the same computer to do it. It would be nice to figure out when my account will have the 60 photo limit lifted…

I definitely don’t get more than 60 per album. Moving photos into a newly created album doesn’t work either. Strangeness. Perhaps it was a mistake. After all, they did leak the code for the homepage..

Another one in the boat of only being able to upload 60 while my friends can get 200. So frustrating. Any word on what’s causing it?

Its a pain in the A$$.. it wouldn’t be so bad if you could have a photo group with the albums in it..

Main Albums with sub albums.

i havent been able to upload more than 60 photos yet. I really want to! but I cant! my friends are able to do this but I dont know why I cant do this. please help me if you know how to do this. thanks!

HOW COME I CANT UPLOAD ANY THEN?USED TO BE SO EASY!

I am not getting more than 60… I am wondering what happens if 2 albums are named the same.

Its not working me also… i only can upload 60 pic…
how we can get 200 Limit ?

That helps so much! I uploaded eleven albums alone for a spring break trip >.>

But I think FB is pulling random users to beta test this..

I still can’t upload more than 60 pics per album
how do i get to do it?

‘”We sometimes test new features with subsets of users for varying periods of time. Your friends may be upload more than 60 photos to an album if they are part of this test group. Unfortunately, we are not able to manually add or remove users from the test group. You can upload 100 photos into the Mobile Uploads album. If you add more than 100, a second album is automatically created.” - Facebook’

Finally something facebook can imporve that we can all agree on…unlike all those unnecessary applications that they constantly keep asdding evey month

I am using an iMac and never had any problems uploading any pictures. As soon as the limit of 60 was lifted I have been able to add more - no problems there. Between Facebook and iPhoto it is easy and fun to do!

YES! this is very usefull to me since im a gig photographer i take way to many photos and have like 4 albums on the same gig AHH!

I can upload more than 60 via iPhoto, but not via Picasa. Picasa uploader doesn’t list my album that has over 60 photos in it.

The limits currently are:
200 photos per album
70 photos can be uploaded at once by exteral apps (like Picasa)

So a problem arises: you want to get 160 photos from eg Picasa to Facebook, but you want them in one album.

Easy!
- Do 3 uploads from Picase to FB (70+70+20)
- Merge the second and third album into the first. You can do that very easily (3 click per album) by joining my “Merge Photo Albums” group on Facebook

I am able to load 200 pictures into my face book album but wasn’t notified about this ahead of time. Unfortunately, my album was placed in a certain order, so no I have to retrack and make two albums, removing about half from my 1st one and adding again to the second one. It’s a family tree and photos have been placed according to order. Ohhhhhhh boy!!!
